  1. I also have a vintage Roland JV-1080 in the closet, that I haven't hooked up in years... never could afford a DX7 either, LOL!
  2. Skippy demonstrated the TX816 Unify patches on his livestream on Saturday. He mentioned that he had the original Yamaha unit, but with only 2 modules, because he couldn't afford all 8 at the time, which was something like $5,000. His parents owned a music store at the time and had sent him and the store's piano tuner on a road trip to see a Yamaha demo of the DX. He was hooked on synth programming from that point on. He's a happy camper now that he can run all 8 modules!
  3. Yamaha TX816 Factory Patches UNIFIED (w/Link) All you need is PluginGuru Unify to use this. It leverages the bundled free Dexed DX7 FM synth emulation that Unify includes, and is able to load DX7 factory patches. https://forums.pluginguru.com/unify-patchbook/yamaha-tx816-factory-patches-unified-w-link/ The TX816 was a rack synth with 8 DX7 modules. So Unify emulates this by using 8 layers of Dexed, with some custom tweaks by John "Skippy" Lehmkuhl, to make some big FM sounds!
  4. And there are other good reasons to check out Unify! The ease with which you can add instrument layers to a unify preset to build up big layered sounds is one. And the fact that you can do so without needing to pop open the original synth GUIs speeds up the loading and is a more efficient use of your system resources. https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=layer-stack-view You can have as many layers as your computer can handle. https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=threadpoolsize All Instrument layers are processed simultaneously, in separate threads. https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=cpu-meters
  5. To avoid problems, I would recommend installing Cakewalk on the system "C:" drive under "Program files", then put your Cakewalk content elsewhere, such as the "D:" drive.
  6. Direct link to Rapture presets, including Muz3uM at Wayback Machine here: https://web.archive.org/web/20171011201724/http://patcharena.com/downloads/index.php?subcat=83&ENGINEsessID=c870f94b8eb7558f15df27f760e71ae6
  7. https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/baby-audio-parallel-aggressor "Spank" and "Heat" are all you need to know! Unless you prefer "Dry". ?
  8. Is the Cakewalk audio engine dropping out? Have you tried switching the Audio Engine button off/on instead of restarting plugins? The Audio Engine button https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR X2&language=3&help=Recording.24.html
  9. It looks like the links are dead. This link still works! Just hit the download button to get the zip file. https://web.archive.org/web/20130822062233/http://patcharena.com/downloads/comment.php?dlid=1009&ENGINEsessID=2311519e0788658009b3c9b74f5c4351 From the readme.txt:
  10. The 2018.11 Cakewalk release contained an updated version of BREVERB 2 Cakewalk edition. You may have issues if you try to use the older .dll from Sonar.
  11. Nah, cool your jets! I'm a dude! ? Do you really think that chicks dig Genesis???
  12. I wonder how many women use non-gender specific user names on forums so they don't have to deal with that s h i t? ?
  13. This is a bonus for Studio One 5 users of UJAM virtual bassists v2.1. The key switches are already mapped and named in the Studio One 5 menu, so no manual key switch mapping is required. And the bass can follow the chord track, with the virtual player adapting to the changes in the chord track. A short tutorial demo:
  14. Have now completed my UJAM virtual bassist collection! ALL at sale prices!
  15. MOST DAWS HAVE MOVED ON TO 64-BIT OS VERSIONS AND 64-BIT PLUGINS, AND REQUIRE THE USE OF BRIDGING TECHNOLOGY TO SUPPORT 32-BIT PLUGINS. SO 32-BIT PLUGINS HAVE EFFECTIVELY ALREADY BEEN ENDED. BUT OLD PLUGINS WILL NOT SUDDENLY STOP WORKING IF YOU STILL HAVE THE MEANS TO HOST THEM.
  16. That was a nice thing to do. I understood your point, but unfortunately some folks probably will think that Reaper is free, due to it's open ended "nag" policy. We don't need to be encouraging the intentional breaking of software license terms. And as you said, $60 ain't that much for a DAW with great community support, and frequent updates.
  17. 60 days of free evaluation is a great deal!
  18. This free PDF eBook called "How to Make a Noise", by Simon Cann (293 pages), was published in 2007. It featured the original Surge Synth as one of the synths used in his examples for synthesizer programming, as well as a few other popular VSTi synths of that time, including Cakewalk z3ta+. Click the link contained on this page to get the download: https://noisesculpture.com/how-to-make-a-noise-a-comprehensive-guide-to-synthesizer-programming/
  19. You are quoting the VST3 licensing options here. I believe Matt was referring to the now deprecated VST2 licensing terms.
  20. Robert Bone shows his last visit to this forum as last Saturday. Just hover over the link to his name above and you will see a member status popup.
  21. Just keep it simple, and start with sforzando! ? I find that I need to open the TX16WX manual EVERY time I attempt to use it. It's probably the best all-around free sampler, but a bit of overkill for playing a sound font.
