  1. Agreed. As it is, if I get motivated, I will try to copy over the preset FX parameters from the AL 4 version into the AL5 presets manually, and then save them in AL V so that I will not have to open AL 4 unnecessarily. I'm lucky to still have AL 4 installed, and Doug is also lucky they gave him a copy. But both versions are covered by the same license serial, so that makes sense to me.
  2. I humbly disagree from my perspective, and I fully understand what you are saying. But that's OK. We all have our personal preferences, and I don't expect anyone else to have mine. YMMV. I choose to spend my available budget on things I NEED. Since I don't use retro or lo-fi very often, I don't really have much use for instant inspiration for this technique. I waited my whole life to go from LP's and cassettes to digital hi-fi, so I ain't gonna go back now (very often).
  3. Maybe preset compatibility with legacy presets, as shown in the pic above? I got the same message with some presets in the Vangelis bank, but not all. It's real and the affected presets do not sound right in AL V. For example, when I open Blade Runner Blues or Blade Runner Strings in AL 4, they sound much better!
  4. The instructions are pretty clear. Took me about 15 minutes to patch that up. Saved as a User preset for future use. If you don't already have Voltage installed, plan on another 15 mins. YMMV! Good luck! For extra credit, try patching it without looking at the pics in the article, LOL!
  5. Step by step tutorial, using a free synth! It's a Music Radar article from last year. Posting for anyone interested that may have missed this. https://www.musicradar.com/news/jean-michel-jarre-best-synth-sound https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/voltage-modular-nucleus
  6. No, but get you some Luftrum Bioscape, and YOU can be like Pedro! And that is a beautiful piece, from the list of Bioscape demo tracks at the Luftrum site. https://www.luftrum.com/
  7. Well, I've compared RC-20 with several retro manglers that I already have, Arturia TAPE MELLO-FI, iZotope Trash 2, and Waves Abbey Road Vinyl. Conclusion for me is that Trash 2 has the most mangling options and presets available within categories [Distort, Drive, Faulty, Fuzz, Heavy, Retro, Saturate] along with filtering and effects. How about "Cassette", "Earbuds", "Home Recording", "Vintage Soundtrack", etc.? TAPE MELLO-FI has a cool "crappy radio" preset, as well as a few others along with a basic interface, and Abbey Road vinyl has the most realistic musical retro effects. I'm going to pass on RC-20. Although it probably has the most relevant features in a single interface. Probably a no-brainer for $19, if you don't already have similar tools.
  8. My thoughts exactly! Nori is amazing, and I have all of his banks for SynthMaster 2. Need to get me some more of the Arturia banks by Nori! In addition to Richard's Devine's work with Arturia for the Matrix-12 V, I also have several brands of synths with his presets included, including AIR Loom II, AAS Chromaphone packs [Epicycles, Microsound Textures], Tracktion Biotek 2, and Waves Flow Motion. I probably need to pick up Richard Devine's Signature banks for the Arturia DX-7 and Buchla Easel.
  9. I woke up "tomorrow", and still scratching my head... ?
  10. I downloaded the demo of RC-20. Is it just me, or does every preset (except the vinyl) make a track sound like total garbage? ? But the price! LOL. ?
  11. UH-oh! Good thing I haven't updated yet! Still on 11.0.12. ?
  12. Live 11 allows one defined VST2 folder path, and also allows you to select a custom VST3 path. I leave the VST3 at the default location. For an extra VST2 path, what you can do is place a Windows shortcut in Live's defined VST2 path that points to another folder, such as the Cakewalk VST2 path in Program files. That works for me here. Then they show up in Live's Plug-ins browser as VST listed under "Cakewalk VSTPlugins - shortcut".
  13. Yup, with Plugin Boutique, the exchange rate with PayPal gets me every time. I end up paying slightly more in USD at the final tally than what was quoted (obviously not real-time) in my shopping cart. ?
  14. I believe that is correct. What you would need to do is host your chosen VSTi instrument(s), AND the VST2 effect inside of a Unify VST3 plugin as a wrapper, in a Cubase instrument track. You could then apply the VST2 effect to the instrument(s) hosted in Unify, and that audio would be mixed and sent out to the Cubase track that is hosting the wrapper. I did notice that Kushview Element has both VSTi and VST versions, but have not tried the FX version yet. The instrument version works great!
  15. I'm all in for "Underground Yodeling"!!! ?
  16. I realized a while back that I did not have the discipline or patience to organize and then sift through a massive sample collection. Now I am organizing and sifting through a massive instrument preset collection instead. ? I think that the advantage with this method is that presets are much easier to audition within the context of the track. You can quickly alter them by changing the MIDI pattern, either by playing the part yourself, or using a MIDI pattern generator where you are in control of the pattern/chord elements. I don't think samples are quite that flexible.
  17. FYI, Bapu cheated because he let the forum mods here transfer his legacy post count over from the old Cakewalk forum when it was locked. What a head start! ?
  18. Bapu probably beat you to it.
  19. Yes, I have also experimented with the Amadeus Symphony in Kontakt. Great full range, all-in-one orchestral patch that is! Luftrum Bioscape has some very cool ambient presets for Kontakt as well. https://www.luftrum.com/bioscape/
  20. The current Sonitus plugs should be 64-bit DX, in your 64-bit Program Files path. The 2-pins (dots as you call them) vs. 4-pins appearance depends on whether you have the Cakewalk mixing engine set to 64-bit precision or not, and does not determine the "bitness" of the plugin itself. See scooks link above for the details.
  21. Tony Banks is the legend!
  22. Using Wotja as a MIDI generator, ambient sound banks should come in handy!
  23. The Vangelis banks have got some great CS-80 patches!
