Issue With Groove Clipping in Odd Time Signatures
Colin Nicholls replied to Xechno PSI's question in Q&A
Make the clip to groove a whole multiple of 1/4. For example, when I create a 7/8 groove clip, I make the clip two bars long. I have also had to remove notes from the clip *after* enabling groove-clipping and before stretching it out, in cases where I have a 1/8 rest at the end of the 7/8 bar... that probably doesn't make any sense but if you experiment with a sequence of 7 1/8 notes, in two bars, then groove-clip it, then remove notes, then stretch-fill, you'll see what I mean. -

That's pretty nice; well done. Looking forward to trying this one out.

@Gerry 1943, top right of the menu bar. Here I'm using my own custom workspace but "Basic" is one of the options. -
Audio Dropout Toast Messages Not
Colin Nicholls replied to razor7music's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You could try setting your interface to insane buffer sizes, etc, to force Cakewalk to show you what it would do for real dropouts. Or similar. -
I guess this question is for @Craig Anderton - do we have any Techniques articles about Cakewalk to look forward to, or is it a done deal now that it's a free product? If so it's a shame because it seems to be that CbB is actually gaining new users, based on questions I see appearing on Reddit and Youtube comments....

No mouse control on playback
Colin Nicholls replied to grovmusic@yahoo.com's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Do you have a USB audio interface? Are the mouse and audio I/O sharing a USB Hub? I may be way off-base but I used USB Tree View to map the ports on my DAW so I could be sure that my Focusrite USB interface was optimally connected and there were no possible conflicts. That said, I have no idea if this is your issue but it's probably worth an investigation. -

2020.04 Early Access installer now available!
Colin Nicholls replied to Noel Borthwick's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Can't you create an arrangement with multiple copies of the section? And then commit it to the project? (not something I've tried, just thinking on the fly) -
@fonolit, just in case it helps: Timeline editing in Cakewalk, reloaded

In Sonar/Cakewalk? Per clip? I don't think so. You can set the clip header colors for the whole environment using the Theme Editor, of course (Track View -> Clips Pane -> Clips) but the clip-specific options only cover clip body foreground and background.

2020.04 Early Access installer now available!
Colin Nicholls replied to Noel Borthwick's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This was attempted a couple of years back, but the results weren't productizable. And now that Cakewalk is free, you'd have to be insane to think that the costs associated with such a development are recoverable. -

Updated to 0.9.6 to cover version 2020.04 because I was updating my themes anyway and I figured I'd just Get It Done. See top post for URL. -

Nice work! -
If the MIDI track is muted, it won't play. If another track is solo'd and the MIDI track is not solo'd as well, it won't play. Otherwise, it should work.

When you want acoustic instruments to sound "acoustic", nothing beats a microphone in an acoustic space. The difference between using my piezo equiped nylon string guitar wired vs recorded via a mic was so different, I stopped trying, and used mics. Of course, if you want that piezo sound (it is useful for some use-cases) then you're good.

The same thing happened to me just now - I guess my browser cached it - pressing F5/Refresh manually in the browser brought up the latest version 0.9.5. -

Uh... there wasn't a deadline :-). Your post about the Transport Background was the trigger for me to update the doc earlier today, so yeah, it's included. I didn't use your images, though, I generated some new ones. Oh, and I see a spelling mistake. Oh well.
