If the music software is going on this way (online, online *****), maybe I will go back to hardware only! Usually I only have my old laptop connected to the internet. My main production system gets rarely internet access for some installation things that cannot be done offline (e.g. NI). But never when I am working on music. And as my recording room in the barn has no internet the older W7 pc there has almost never a connection (like this W7 is more secure like W11 ?). In respect of Waves I have decided some years ago not to use their plugins (main reason is the plugin shell trouble and authorization).

Thanks! That's also what I have found out (manual). And yes, actually I meant activation. Great idea, but to use the demo to find it out is an overkill IMHO. In some cases it even does not show this. Besides I think it is sad that many(most?) plugin providers don't unveil the activation requirements!

AFAIK this has always been like that. Once I asked support if it is possible to install a new instrument purchase on a 3rd computer and only on 1 of the existing authorized computers and they said yes! That meant you could decide for each instrument independently 2 authorization locations. Regrettably this has changed for EZKeys 2!

I am disappointed! There are 2 things that are a degradation: The EZkeys 2 Core library cannot be installed without the Product Manager anymore! Like that I guess you have to re-download on all your pcs. I have 4 EZkeys 1 packages that I have distributed on 3 computers. It seems I cannot update all to EZkeys 2 (only on 2 computers).

Maybe they will have even more ideas in the future! ?

By the way, it maybe also a performance aspect if all 100 plugins used in a project access the internet (to check version ...) when I open the project! Is this the future? It is like Windows (I don't know about Mac!) that needs all the power on my laptop if I start it and the internet is on! That's crazy, you are not the master of your own hardware anymore!

I don't like that too many programs/plugins (try to) access the internet on my PCs! Do you really know what all of them do on your systems? Can you be sure that all of them are programmed safely? I think the risk of fraud grows with the number of programs accessing the internet, that's that simple IMHO!
