  1. Ah, the "Ask This Every Time" checkbox must have been unchecked. Open up the synth rack, and click on the "Insert Synth Options" button:
  2. It should pop up any time you insert a soft synth:
  3. It sounds like you've changed your insert synth options at some point. Cakewalk always remembers the last settings you used. From what you've described, I think you're expecting it to be set to Simple Instrument Track. Make sure Simple Instrument Track is checked on the dialog when you drag/drop:
  4. What are the specs of your PC ? It may be you've not got enough memory to cope with the extra instruments / samples.
  5. The easiest way is to drag the effect from the FX browser to the FX bin on your audio track: Note: for things like reverb, using the effects bin directly on the track may not be the preferred way. There are other ways such as using buses or aux tracks, however if you're starting off, just go with the method above for now until you get comfortable with it. For things like AutoTune or Melodyne, you may want to apply the effect directly to the audio (destructive audio editing) so that it applies the effect permanently rather than use the effects bin like a traditional fx rack in real-time. But it depends if you're using it as an "effect" or for correction. There's more in the Cakewalk documentation: https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=4&help=EditingAudio.24.html For AutoTune type effects specifically, MAutoPitch from Melda Productions is pretty good, and its free with their "free bundle": https://www.meldaproduction.com/MFreeFXBundle
  6. The best way is to use the like button on the bottom right of their post: The member will get a notification, and a point added to their reputation score.
  7. Cobalt is one of my favourite synths. It's my go to for lead sounds. It's very similar to the Korg DW8000. It was discontinued for a long long time, but the old 32bit demo worked in the meantime. I'm so glad Les Sanford has recompiled it for 64 bit.
  8. To their credit, they have vastly improved the stability of NI Access. When I first bought Komplete 11, I was absolutely raging at it (and I rarely lose my temper). Any slight delay in the download process (such as my cron job on another machine downloading a backup of my website's database), would mean it timing out and starting again from the beginning. This was totally unacceptable given that some of the installs are approaching 10GB or more. I mean, of course there's a likelihood of your download speed going up and down over a few hours - in fact, I suspect my ISP started throttling it at some point. At least now it recovers nicely, and will quite happily continue from where it left off.
  9. My NI hard disk was corrupt, and I spent AGES trying to work out how to replace the installers on it after repairing it and some of the files ending up too damaged to repair. Thankfully it works now, but as you say - everything is so out of date, it ends up downloading it all again anyway.
  10. Looking at your system specs, it looks like your system should be performing much better than this. Also, I see that your sound-blaster does actually have a dedicated ASIO driver. Apart from your audio device, your PC is a slightly better spec than mine, and mine runs pretty quickly. I'm wondering if there's a hardware fault somewhere - possibly with your soundblaster card. It might be worth removing the soundblaster and see if it improves things at all. If you've some way of running a diagnostics on your motherboard, that might be worth doing too.
  11. A good quality mix. Vocals are slightly loud for my liking, but well EQ'd and a good sound. The mix seems to be pumping a bit with over compression. This may be what you wanted, but personally I found it a bit distracting. Apart from that, a great cover.
  12. Things to try: First, disable autosave, and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then it may be something accessing the files whilst Cakewalk is saving them. Make sure any cloudsync programs (DropBox, Microsoft OneSync, Mega etc) aren't syncing your project, or global audio directories. Make sure your project/global audio directories are excluded from any virus scanners. [Edit] - Even if autosave is off, you could still have hangs/crashes if any cloudsync or virus checkers try to access your audio files whilst Cakewalk is running. Make sure nothing but Cakewalk can touch them.
  13. If you've been using ASIO, it's likely that your on-board device won't be recognised as it's unlikely it's got an ASIO driver. Try switching over to WASAPI or install ASIO4ALL.
  14. I agree, given that purchasing a new audio interface is off the cards, using the on-board sound device might be the best bet. The drivers are likely to be more compatible with Windows 10. Personally however, I'd recommend WASAPI over ASIO4all for on-board devices, but it's worth trying them both,
  15. Yes, Addictive Drums came with previous versions of Sonar Platinum / Producer. A comparison of the versions, and what came with them is here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Cakewalk-By-BandLab-vs-SONAR-Versions-Comparison-Chart-4282018-m3750958.aspx
  16. I'm assuming this is an instrument track? This should fix it: 1. Create a new instrument track with AD2 2. Select your original AD2 track, select Edit->Copy Special making sure "Copy Events In Track" is checked 3. Select your new track, select Edit->Paste Special 4. Drag any additional effects from the old track's FX bin to the new track's FX bin 5. Delete you original AD2 track. If it's not an instrument track (i.e. you've got separate MIDI / Audio tracks), then what probably has happened is that the output of the MIDI track has been changed after you froze the track, and possibly the original audio track deleted. Breaking the link between a frozen MIDI / Audio track is what causes the freeze icon to be greyed out. To fix it in this situation: 1. Create a new Audio & MIDI track 2. Insert AD2 into the synth rack 3. Set your new Audio track's input to the new AD2 4. Set the MIDI track's output to AD2 5. Select your old AD2 MIDI track, and drag the clips over to the new MIDI track 6. Delete the original MIDI track.
  17. There's no way to get it, unless BandLab re-release it. Meng did say that Rapture Pro was likely to be re-released at some point. Hopefully the other instruments/effects/ProChannel modules will eventually become available too.
  18. Sonar X3e Producer works fine for me on my Win 10 Laptop (Windows 10 Home 64 bit). I thought at first I may be running as Admin or with some compatibility options, but I'm not. However, even using WASAPI the buffer size has to be at maximum. CbB is is practically at the minimum buffer size. There's no contest really - by all means install X3e to get the extra plugins / softsynths, but use CbB.
  19. Looks like you need to run chkdsk on the drive. It may be just a glitch, or it may be that your drive is damaged. Either way, run chkdsk. If the drive is damaged, backup what you can and transfer it to another drive.
  20. It's worth noting that a video file contains two codecs: one for the video, and one for the audio. An MP4 is a container for the video & audio, where both the video & audio have their own codecs. It's quite common for MP4 files to use MP3 as the codec for the audio.
  21. Track templates combined with drag & drop seems to work. Extra audio tracks are created, but they can be deleted afterwards. Still, it feels like a workaround... I'd still like a real track copy between projects ?
  22. This is what happens when you try to drag/drop with instrument tracks: However "Duplicate track" within the same project works fine with instrument tracks. Adding a project selector to the "Duplicate Track" dialog, showing all open projects would be an ideal solution.
  23. The issue for me isn't isolating a folder of tracks into one project. What I want to do is insert tracks into an already populated project from an existing project. For example, I'm writing a song, I've got the intro, verse and bridge. I suddenly remember a project with a 16 bar section that might work well as a chorus. I want to be able to open that old project and copy those tracks into my new project. Intuitively, I'd expect to be able to drag the tracks from one project to another - or at least be able to select the tracks, press CTRL +C, go to my new project and press CTRL+V to paste them in. Not only can I do not do that, but so far I've yet to find a workaround that will reliably allow me to do it.
  24. The only reason I tried freezing the tracks, was to fix the issue with instrument tracks. With instrument tracks, if you don't freeze, all the tracks get pasted in the wrong places and the tracks are left in an unusable state - i.e. MIDI clips can end up on audio tracks, instrument tracks think they're frozen but unfrozen clip data is in there, but no way to unfreeze them etc. Although freezing before copy/pasting seems to get around the issue, I'm not totally confident that the tracks are not in some way compromised. And as you say, things are missing. I was hoping that the track template workaround would do half the job, and cut special/paste special would do the rest. But it seems there's gaps. @Noel Borthwick - any advice on how to copy a track in its entirety from one project to another?
  25. Ok, found a workaround for this. So when using instrument tracks: Select all your tracks in source project Export as a track template In new project, insert the track template In source project, freeze all of your tracks Select all of your source tracks again, Copy Special Paste Special into new project, starting at the appropriate track, with "Replace Old with New" selected on the dialog Delete the extra audio tracks it's created at the end Note: It's really important you create your track template with the UNFROZEN tracks, otherwise after pasting into your project, the tracks get into some half frozen state: the MIDI data is in the track, but it thinks the track is frozen & has not linked up the audio, so you can't unfreeze it.
