If you are talking about the piano roll view....only select one track. And you'll only see the notes for that track.

As an alternative to automation, I often use separate tracks for the same instrument. Even for something as simple as slight volume changes. If everything is on one track, a change upstream means it will sound different downstream and you'll end up making more work for yourself.

Does your keyboard have a DIN output (5 pin circular plug) and are you using a DIN to USB converter? If so, the cheap ones are crap and that could be the problem.

Cakewalk doesn't know that your markers are the beginning and end of your song. It assumes when you export, you're exporting the whole song....unless you highlight the markers...ie create a sub-range.
