Console 1 - 5 Reasons you might want one
chuckebaby replied to Blades's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You have no idea what your missing. Before I had a control surface (mid 2000's) I didn't know what I was missing either. Now I don't know how I would survive without one. -
Practicing To Drum Groove & Change Tempo With Sustain Pedal
chuckebaby replied to T on Y's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You wont be able to control tempo like this using a sustain pedal. You can probably use the sustain pedal to "Move to next marker" as you mentioned in previous post (CTRL+SHIFT+PAGE UP). But not to increase tempo by 4BPMs. Not even sure you can use it to control "increase by 1 BPM" Wish I had a better answer for you. EDIT: I re read your comment again and it appears you already have a tempo map created, So follow @Blogospherianman instructions below. Unless someone has something easier to use. -
I can tell by your screen name and avatar your a guitarist who probably enjoys rock/metal. This is my main gig as well. I write all my drums in the Piano roll. I've tried the SS but I just couldn't work productively. Though I will admit, it was probably me not knowing everything there is to know about the SS. I just get in to a groove using the PRV. Back when I first started using it for drums, bass, exc it would take a whole day just to write a drum track. Now it takes less than an hour. I use a lot of copy/paste, select+drag functions to speed things up. Made this video like 7 years ago, but I still work the same way.

Reminder... I would also mark @scook last comment as the best answer (it covered everything). It will help others in the future find solutions to their questions easily.

I was going to attempt to add to this but Steve's last post really explains it all. Its simple.... Select all/Create In and Out points, Export, done ! PS- nice touch on the French links Steve

Once your step sequencer clips are done you can change them back to standard midi clips. which is easier to work on sometimes. they can be easily turned back in to step sequencer clips as well...and vice versa. Right click on the clip and choose from the pop up menu: convert to midi clip / convert to step sequencer clip
-
Is there a reason ? It is always best to make a back up of your completed midi file (step sequencer file) once you complete them. If Cakewalk ever fails to open/corrupt project, you can kiss all that hard work goodbye.

My gosh, I haven't seen this in years. I could have sworn Cakewalk changed the default behavior a year or so ago. Because it was happening to everyone and their brothers. Using an older version of Sonar ?

Probably beat up question about solo / un-solo Midi tracks

I have to agree with @scook. Avoid using IT when your using multi out. If you are really hell bent on doing it your way... may I suggest using CNTRL groups. -
Help me understand CW by BL please
chuckebaby replied to Gary Edelman's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I can open projects that I made in Sonar X1 Producer (2011) using the new Cakewalk by Bandlab. So (for me anyway) I've been pleasantly pleased. Your taking a risk with anything you use. even some of my old Rackmount gear doesn't always work like it did 10 years ago. Software is very similar. we can only hope to open projects made 10 years ago. Luckily, im doing just that. -
By the way... The work around for this right now is to create the markers (or tempos) and save the project as a "Project Template".

Have you dug in to the Mackie Control protocol ? As in open the Mackie control preference menu ? you can assign almost any button, anywhere. You can also use "Midi learn/ Vs. ACT to assign knobs and buttons. I used to love ACT back in the day, but it has become dated. Though I totally respect where your coming from. you want to work comfortably and you know how ACT works. I understand that. But I believe makie Control has more depth, as in you can assign any button to perform actions such as "Bounce to clips" exc.

No it uses Mackie Control.

I must have confused the X touch mini with the X touch compact This is the one I thought you were referring too.

Cakewalk shortcut defaults only use the PAGE UP/PAGE DOWN buttons for one shortcut. Navigate through Markers - CTRL+SHIFT+PAGE DOWN/CTRL+SHIFT+PAGE UP. Would it be easier to map out a tempo ? -
It's Mackie Control (like the regular X-Touch). Still pricey though (around 3-4 hundred for the mini X) Here's another option that works with ACT and is fairly cheap.

Neither do I. Let me try a few more tests on my end.

No probs @martin I just checked in this latest version and CV pops up upon re open of saved project. Make sure you have Lenses set to "None" and make sure you don't have a Screenset "locked". let me know how it works out.
-
The only thing I can think of is either A- Screensets B- Lenses They are the parents in charge of layouts.

As technology advances, (example: newer Operating systems are released, DAW's are updated to new versions), older plug ins can be prone to issues. Those plug ins are over 10 years old. Doesn't mean they are bad plug ins, Sonitus plug ins are dated as well, I still use them. However.. I tend to throw caution at using any plug in as a reliable FX when it hasn't been updated in a decade. Those 3 plug ins I mentioned in my previous post ARE a great example of being "dated".

If the play head was moving (and meters moving) but no sound was coming out then it sounds like a soundcard selection issue which is easy to remedy. As Steve mentioned, the online help/guide is helpful. Look at configuration set up

@Medicine Head For what its worth, I gave your idea here 5 stars. I can only hope someday in the future this is possible. Im guessing its in the way the faders are in blocks of 8. The WAI can be shifted, but cant be divided.
