  1. The new Export Dialogue lets you select the song ending. Its very well done now as this was a huge complaint for years. Use the time selection
  2. The new Add Track dialogue allows you to select the output for both audio and instrument tracks. But I like your trick too. Never thought of doing that. And like all things Cakewalk there’s more! you can also select the tracks , go to the Tracks tab and use Selected Tracks output.
  3. By plug ins do you mean VST instruments? Are they now out of sync with the audio tracks?
  4. On the topic of DX. I just found 30 I didn’t know I had ! I downloaded those delays posted above to my “testing “ computer in the office. First I got sidetracked by Cakewalk update, then after I installed them I got hugely distracted by organizing my plug ins. I test everything on this machine before committing to my main DAW so it gets messy. There was a lot of stuff in the un categorized file. Lots of doubles and then I started noticing a lot of DX with very plain names like Reverb. Looks like Sony Vegas ( Movie Studio Plat ) dumped about 30 of these into one of my VST folders. Talk about un glamorous GUI interfaces. Most are 2 sliders on a grey background. I opened the Plug in Manager and Excluded them all. Then I spent the evening trying all the plug ins I wasn’t sure about and one by one excluding most of those too. I then put what was left in the proper category folder. So now I’m a tidy hoarder. Not one of those who parks their car outside because their garage is full of junk.
  5. Thanks Bill. I had already tried most of those. But The Sanford stuff looks interesting I downloaded 4 things from there, I also didn't have the La Grange. The Boz delay seems to be $ 30 can. The hard to find feature is the sync to host. Sure most you can set the tempo, but if the song has a tempo map with changes things get ugly.
  6. Ya that used to catch me too. Just open the Automation lane and you will be able to edit the track. You just can't edit while the automation is superimposed on top of the track.
  7. How many Mute buttons do you need. There's one in the Track Pane, the Inspector and the Console view of each instrument plus the midi track if it's split. It would actually be a real bad idea to have one on the actual VST GUI as those are most time hidden and there would be a 100 posts from people wondering why they have no sound.
  8. I use regional effects too and it’s no problem at all. I use the Render option the minute I’m done. The rules are 1. work with short clips. 2. Work with a copy of the original 3. Render right away when done with the clip to release Melodyne 4. Save the project often as you work If you find you need to redo a clip just delete that clip and use Ctrl drag to pull it from the original as a copy. Keep the original copy above the working copy but muted. This makes it easy to drag copy.
  9. Both the old dialogue and the new give you an option to choose how many instrument or midi tracks are generated. The default is the max and if you choose mono that doubles them. But all I do is this after I’ve inserted multiple outputs and I only say want 4 of them Hit F. This will spread them evenly so you can see them all Starting with the first track I don’t want point the mouse at the track number holding Ctrl. It will turn orange Drag the mouse down the track numbers to select the unwanted tracks. Delete The tracks are created based on output order for most synths. The exception is VST like Addictive Drums which outputs seem pre assigned to kit pieces so hard to delete tracks.
  10. Yet probably another of those Basic Workspace issues. They say it’s to not overwhelm new users but if they insist on hiding half of Cakewalks features how’s is anyone going to know they even exist. That right hand mini track view has always been there for me but I realize it’s not part of the basic workspace.
  11. This is a Simple instrument track. An Instrument track is just audio and needs a separate midi track. If you try to record to an Instrument track it records Audio. If you record to a Simple instrument track you get midi. What to me is wrong is the icons seems ***** backwards to what they should be.
  12. Everyone is different. I think the downside of all this free powerful software is it leads to folks making things way more complicated than they need to be. A great song can be 1 track with no effects. There’s a million examples of this from the past. Myself I was happy with an 8 track and a compressor and reverb in the rack. Running a small studio taught me that it’s all about the talent and performance not the gear. I used the same set up for dozens and dozens of recording sessions using the same room, mikes and gear. There’s a huge difference between all those recording that is only due to what was on the other side of the glass. Ah but there we go again, old farts complaining about how these youngsters not having a clue about the art of recording . Apologies to the OP this has nothing to do with your issue.
  13. At this point I would un install all the software that came with the Nektar and see if the problem goes away. Also make sure the sample rate is set correctly in all locations. Windows, Cakewalk and the ASIO panel for the interface.
  14. I just figured out that the side bar on the right , if you’re not seeing it you can drag it from the right, is actually called the track view. It’s a mini view of the track pane. I’ve used it for years without knowing what it was called . Difference is you can just show midi tracks. If you select auto lock mode you can hold Ctrl and select multiple tracks. Note the pencil or the lock. As it is, it takes 1/2 second to view the track or tracks you need from within the PVR so no need to do that in the TV.
  15. That’s a very small list of VST’s compared to the majority of users. Someone just posted about their collection of 1,600 VST’s. I never have to freeze tracks. But I’m not doing movie scores either. Just pop songs. Those are at the most 16 -24 tracks. Everybody is different. And I also don’t use more than about 12 different VST instruments or 12 different effects. I have about 6x that installed but I stick with my favourites. So I’m not overly concerned about retrieving sounds in the future. I have old projects I’ll open and I never use what I had originally used anyway. I move on to newer stuff. It’s always better. So what you might want to do is use the track note pad and write out what that track used and the settings etc. it’s found in the inspector.
  16. Good question but for most of us we install Splat and leave it there because it takes up very little room. I think there’s some sort of danger in uninstalling it because of shared resources. @scook will know for sure.
  17. So what you just did would add method # 10 for inserting instruments ? FYI if you just insert a new midi track and point it at the VST you wish to use this would be the typical users choice. This works for both instruments set up with multiple outputs and not. Don’t get channels and outputs mixed up.
  18. In my navigation video I show you how to manipulate the workspace and save it. Or simply hide the views you don’t want using the shortcuts. Once you learn Cakewalk you will definitely want all the options. Im glad the video helped. I hope you take the time to watch them all. They are made to be watched in sequential order.
  19. What many do like me is record the wet live signal with the effects and split it ( at my Boss tuner). And record a second track dry at the same time. Best of both worlds. But I almost always use the wet track. Myself I need to “play” the effects especially delay.
  20. Splat only had a serial number. This was the change from X3. Prior to Splat you used the serial to run the install and then activate with the second number provided. With Splat the activation was automatically done but you need to be on line . Look in Help for Activate . Note the off line activation no longer is available as that server is read only now. Been a long time so I forget why you used to get demo mode That would not bother me because I see no point in using it anyway . Why use a buggy outdated version when there’s a much improvement version that works with out fuss ?
  21. You can hold down Crtl and drag the clip anywhere you want and it will be copied. Works both midi and audio . Just don't let go until it's were you want it. And helps to turn snap on to the appropriate value. I use 1/8th note often.
