  1. Not fair! Your the one being rude to someone who is trying to help! I put a smilly to show my tone which was trying to be jovial. All I saw in your screenshot was a lock beside the Workspace icon. So I assumed this was on the track view. I found it, and I opened the help module and it told me what it was, The scroll lock, and it sure made prefect sense to me as to what it was. I google the term and found this. From the documentation: Auto scroll lock in Clips pane While editing, you can prevent the Clips pane from scrolling horizontally during playback. This allows you to focus on the edit location without worrying that the screen will eventually scroll away from the edit location. When the Left Click Locks Scroll option is enabled (default behavior), the Clips pane will not scroll if you click any object in the Clips pane. When you are done with the edit and want the Clips pane to scroll again during playback, click in the background of the Clips pane to clear auto scroll lock. To enable/disable auto scroll lock Click the Track view Options menu, point to Click Behavior and choose Left Click Locks Scroll on the submenu. This works but Now I don't see that icon? It's replies like this that make me realize how much time I'm wasting here. See ya later.

    Sample packs

Zombie Thread-- This is a 2 year old thread the OP is long gone and hopefully found what they needed 2 years ago.
  3. Yes your double posting. That is not cool and it’s confusing to follow. With issues like this you should always add the version you’re using. You say the latest but there’s 2 Possibilities the official release and the early access

    I'm stuck with MIDI

Try my video on using midi tracks in Cakewalk let me know if it helps. My goal is to make these tutorials for people just like you and any feedback is welcome. This is #12 of a whole series so you might benefit from watching them all if your new to Cakewalk.
  5. Did you watch the videos? It’s very clear on both audio and midi connections.
  6. Yes it does take more than a week. It’s taken me 20 years ? I don’t have time to do a point by point for your list of things you think Cakewalk doesn’t do but it actually does if you know how. I think the only item on your list is the chords or whatever your using. Sounds like an interesting feature. I have Audacity, I’ve had it since early days. It great software but very basic in features compared to Cakewalk. I consider it more of a wave editor than a DAW. I also have Wave Lab which is not free and it’s not really any better than Audacity. But as with any software you developed a workflow and it is hard to change. And in the history of all software there’s never the perfect one. Cakewalk does 97.3 % of what all the others do. And each does it differently which is why everyone will choose the software that seems to fit to their workflow best. You should probably stay with Audacity and just live without the missing feature if they don’t hold you down.

    3/4 quantize

Change the time signature in the Transport module. You should have done that at the start so you timeline , metronome and other features would be correct. Then you quantize to a 1/4 or smaller but not a whole.
  8. Only way I know of to label chords is using the markers. I’ve done it a few times when I was real bored. Any how this is a feature request you should post it there.
  9. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Arranging.21.html You should really learn how to use Google. I had no clue what it was either but I got the answer real fast didn’t I ?
  10. Lots of Tutorials available on how to use Cakewalk. Look in the Tutorials Sub Forum. You won't get far using the hunt and peck method, Cakewalk is complicated but doesn't take long f you do a little education first. Have fun, it's a great hobby. This is my link. https://sites.google.com/view/cactus-studios/cakewalk-tutorials
  11. You need to set your key and time signature in the Transport module. I found this antique version tutorial video which seems to be all there is. I do believe nothing has ever changed with staff view, https://youtu.be/-nM_Cxk3sM4 Further digging I also found this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ6cLFj1Emo I guess there's never been a big demand for the staff view. There's probably 100 tutorials on "making beats"
  12. I also have a whole series for beginners as well as many others. Go to the tutorials sub forum and start watching. My Channel is in my signature
  13. Not sure anyone but Izotope can help and seems they had the correct answer. Update. It’s always on sale super cheap. I got mine for free with a Plug in Boutique deal.
  14. Yes this is still broken and seems no end in site. Wonder what the hold up is? Just a note for others. If you do manage to download Cakewalk the installer will be in your download folder. I myself copy these to a folder so if I need an older version there are all there.
  15. Thanks that’s good info about how outdated my machines have become. A new build is long overdue but we bought an old house and the renovations have zapped us even though I do all the work. Im not thinking I’ll ever play live as a solo act anymore so plan A is to try and sell off all that gear and invest in the studio. Building is more of a challenge right now as Parts are a bit low in supply. especially any video cards that are for gamers. And the cards recommended by video forums are like $1,000 yikes! And all The reasonable priced stuff is what is out of stock. So to buy time while I gather the cash to do this I’m thinking I might just buy the much needed video card and put it in the office computer.
  16. Dang. You learn something new just about every day here. I’ve never found that menu either. Now I’ll have to add this to my Inspector tutorial. While making the video I poked around every little detail and most certainly found a few “ new” menus. Most I’ve never used and probably never will, but then how often does Left click do anything in software.
  17. I got it. I have one of those myself. I keep just in case I need W7 for hardware reasons. But come to think of it, haven’t fired it up for probably a year now. I guess I should.
  18. I think the issue is your clip is stereo? I’ve only ever converted mono bass or guitar tracks. Also I don’t think you can use the drag and drop with drums. Especially if it’s a full kit. That would totally confuse Melodyne. Also I always drag it to a midi track not an instrument track but that shouldn’t matter but you never know. I would try and use drum replacer. But it doesn’t work well with cymbals or toms. If you didn’t know this trick I’ll also add You can create a midi track with drum replacer by dragging the drum replacer track to a blank midi track.
  19. I have 3 Computers with CbB installed. Two of them are Desktops and one is a Laptop used for remote recording. The desktops are, one I built my self, and one is an HP Pavilion HPE series. I was fine with the one I built myself as I used pretty good components and choosing an i5 processor at the time was a budget choice and all I needed. ( see pictures for details ) Then I was given the HP when my Mother in Law passed away. It had an i7 so I figured I'd now use this as my Main DAW. It came with W7 and a ton of the expected bloatware. My in laws had missed the free upgrade but I managed to score W10 free using the Accessibility back door. A bit later I decided to put a 250 GB SSD drive and I managed to re install W10 but it was a weird experience and as a result the drive ended up with 3 partitions. Sloppy work on my behalf. It's all worked just fine as my Cakewalk needs are very simple. I'm not a plug in crazy person. I work much as I always have for 30 years. But now I'm editing video and rendering is real slow. So I feel the need to upgrade. The options I see are: 1. Buy off the shelf Machine. Cost $ approx. 1,000 - $2,000 Pros- Will be compatible with W11, I'll now have 3 computers, all ready built and parts are compatible, guaranteed to work perfectly 1st time ? extended lifetime Cons- I'll now have 3 computers, it will need massive amounts of tweaking to get rid of bloatware etc. It will probably have cheap components unless I up my budget out of reach. Probably still need a good video card. 2. Build my own as in the past. Cost approx. $ 1,000 - $2,000 Pros- should be compatible with windows 11, No Bloatware, better quality components including video card, Quiet , Extended lifetime Cons- Lots of time to research, I understand parts are hard to get right now? have to buy W11 outright, weirdness because I'm limited in knowledge about building so not guaranteed to work 1st time. 3. Upgrade the HP Pavilion Cost ? $ 500 - $ 800 Pros - save money, recycle perfectly good parts, easy fix and within my field of expertise. Can stay with W10, already in studio. Cons- Limited lifespan re- W11 incompatibility issue? needs more parts , RAM, fans, a new power supply. New hard drive for OS means a few days or time to re build system. 4. Upgrade the Home made i5. Cost $ 300- $ 500 Pros- Even cheaper to upgrade because it has better parts already. Has 500 GB SSD for OS already so don't have to re install anything. Cons- Limited lifespan re- W11 compatibility, have to move it 20 '. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Upgrading the HP = My plan was the new 870 EVO 500 GB to replace the 750 Evo 250 GB. All new ( faster) RAM to make it 16 GB and a Video card as recommended by those who do videos. The i5 My Build is my office computer. It is fully loaded with almost everything the HP has as my backup. It already has a 500 GB SSD so I don't need to go through the hassle of a new OS and 2 days worth of installing my stuff. I think the video card is my bottleneck right now and no matter which way I go I'll be buying one anyhow. But here's where I need help from you wonderfully more knowledgeable people. Is the i5 Office computer going to drag things down? I would think there's a small difference between the 2 machines CPU wise,, is this so? this is what is I guess the important part. Please look at the specs of the 2 machines and advise which one I should upgrade or should I just replace and buy into the future. I'm not against swapping components either. Thanks for your help. HP graphic card
  20. You don’t mention what Reverb?
  21. I tried that and for some reason it doesn’t work. On one computer it worked the first time and now it doesn’t. Personally if I put up a Web site of any kind and people tell me it’s screwed up I fix the issue ASAP. How hard is it to post the Documentation on a proper secure site. It’s a pretty important part of marketing your products as well as providing seem less support for new users. Not everyone will find this forum in a Google search
  22. Thanks once again @scook I need to have a clear understanding of all this as I produce the tutorials. There’s already way to many out there that have miss information. I first try the documentation but as you know you need the precise keywords to find the info your after So then I just try dozens of scenarios and try and draw my own conclusions. @Tim Smith Yes this is why it is always best practices to choose the midi input device you are using as the input to the track you are recording. As said otherwise the default input setting might use both your USB input and the Midi connection from you interface. Then to compound the issue you might have midi data being sent from a 3rd source , the soft synth output. This is why I like to use the Add Track to insert a synth. It lets me choose the input. And it remains set until you close the project. So this saves time as well. I also keep only my Controller checked in preferences/ midi/devices/ inputs. All other inputs and all outputs are disabled. I only will enable them on the rare occasions I need them.
