Once you learn Cakewalk you will definitely want all the options. Im glad the video helped. I hope you take the time to watch them all. They are made to be watched in sequential order.

What many do like me is record the wet live signal with the effects and split it ( at my Boss tuner). And record a second track dry at the same time. Best of both worlds. But I almost always use the wet track. Myself I need to “play” the effects especially delay.

Splat only had a serial number. This was the change from X3. Prior to Splat you used the serial to run the install and then activate with the second number provided. With Splat the activation was automatically done but you need to be on line . Look in Help for Activate . Note the off line activation no longer is available as that server is read only now. Been a long time so I forget why you used to get demo mode That would not bother me because I see no point in using it anyway . Why use a buggy outdated version when there’s a much improvement version that works with out fuss ?

You can hold down Crtl and drag the clip anywhere you want and it will be copied. Works both midi and audio . Just don't let go until it's were you want it. And helps to turn snap on to the appropriate value. I use 1/8th note often.

Cakewalk is free. Why don't you download it and install it. You have nothing to loose and a lot to gain. The automatic tempo extraction is just one example of many new features your missing out on. And Not to mention the zillion bug fixes.

There have been Zillion bug fixesThere are a dozen or more excellent features added. The program is identical otherwise so there’s a very small learning curve. Just download and install it and try it out Each version is its own install and you can have them side by side. Platinum uses The Command Center or CCC to download and activate. The CCC should be in your my product folders when you log on. Download and install. Then run it. That will give you all your goodies. The server is still working but if it is shut down then that’s the end of Splat and all those goodies. So to me only a fool would not have all of that downloaded and stored in a safe place. There’s well over $1,000 worth of software sitting there in my case. We are told it is best to install the older versions first and CbC last. Good luck.

Once you have a tempo map the metronome will play in time to the audio. But if all you need is one click on the downbeat of each measure then a drum VST and a midi note assigned to the hi hat or a side stick placed on that downbeat will do the trick.

It will be before the amp if you plug your guitar into it and plug the pedals output into your interface. This is what I was trying to say. Sorry if you thought I was saying you still had to use a real amp. As I said in my first reply I sometimes go directly from my Zoom pedal into my interface. As long as your interface has the correct input impedance it should work fine.

I just did a similar project we’re I had narration for a full 12 minute track. I needed to break it into around 1 minute each. What I did was insert 12 new audio tracks. go to the one minute mark of the original and S to split. Now turn on ripple editing drag the remaining part down to the empty track and let go it will fly back to start Now repeat the process until you have your 1 minute or ? Tracks all in their own track Now go to export and select it as clips and it will create separate wave ( mp3) files for each track I had to use the Tracks Trough entire mix so it would go through the master bus The clips option should result in the export files being the correct length The way I do it with tracks they are all the same length matching the longest file Staff is aware of this and said they would look into fixing it

So why don’t you do like I do and plug your guitar into the pedal and record it. As I said I will mostly record this way. Amp sims come in handy but they are not a replacement for the real thing. Even if you bought the re amp device it might sound horrible and that would suck.

The easy way out is just use a delay pedal in the box. Which amp sim are you using? There are lots of options. Problem solved. There's nothing special about the boss delay pedal. I find it a bit grainy compared to the Mooer.

I have the distortion pedal in my pedal board for using as a boost. I actually get my overdrive from my amp, It is a Blackstar and has a ton of effects built in so I have that option as well. I also Have a Boss Digital Delay pedal as well as one made by Mooer. If buy amp you are meaning the Amp sim then yes it seems you would need a re amp box. But did you just try connecting it to your interface and back in without? If your interface has 3/4 output then use one of those and then try different levels using the faders found in console view to the right of the buss pane. Its often hidden off screen.

What Greg said. Saving a project as a midi file is 100% future proof. Example I still can open midi files I made on an Atari in 1985. With very little fuss I can add instruments and it’s good to go. With pure midi projects most of your work is in that midi data. I also take all my projects even if they have audio and use “Save As “. And uncheck the Copy Audio box and save them to OneDrive. This gives me my midi backing tracks complete with instruments and effects and leaving the audio tracks blank but all ready to go to lay down new material. This works especially well for midi only projects. I have over 200 CWP files stored on OneDrive and they take up very little space.

Sorry if I came across wrong, my wife always has to warn me ! And I actually appreciate feedback about the videos. If they are not clear enough then I need to see what I can do to change that. And right away before they get spread across the net. I totally deleted my last series last July because I wasn’t happy with them. They represented 2 years of work. My entire reason for this new series is that anyone who watches will learn how to use Cakewalk 2021. Not Sonar like most of the other tutorials. And I’m trying to be as precise as possible. What makes it so hard to teach is the fact there’s more options and menus than should be required for any one task. They seem to not remove old pieces of the program. I guess my fault seems I wanted to demonstrate all the options instead I should just go “This is how you do this”. And screw the other 6 ways you could also do it.

Well the TTS1 has certainly become unstable. Just yesterday for the first time in a long while. It did the sudden disappearance act. It was a midi file I opened with it loaded, only 5 tracks. I had had it open like this a few times as I’m using it to demonstrate replacement of TTS1 tracks with other instruments. With no warning Cakewalk closed and that was it. No dialogue to say why. I reloaded it at it never did it again so this almost seems random.

I’ll have to look it up but intrusive must be the opposite or intuitive

I’ll vote for this idea. I hate opening the pro channel just for this very reason. I’m forever having to minimize each module just so I can see what the heck is in there. The EQ takes up half the space.

Making the tutorials makes me dig into all corners of Cakewalk. Places I don’t always use routinely. The Event List. It’s sort of super clunky to use in regards to selecting a track. I was thinking a mini track view side window like the PVR How about removing all the old menu items left behind from old version and only keeping say 2 at the most. I counted 9 ways to insert an instrument track. And now there are 2 different dialogue boxes that will appear depending on which method you choose. How hard would it be to say link inserting from the synth rack to the new improved dialogue box. Most of the software I use will only have one menu and one dialogue box per feature or action.

Myself if I’m using a pedal it is going to be where it was designed to go. Directly from my guitar and Before my amp. I rarely record electric guitar directly because electric guitar needs an electric guitar pre amp to respond to. The whole thing with playing electric guitar is the pick ups, the pedals and the amp all reacts to your playing. And your playing is effected by the sounds you’re getting. You play to the effects. My preferences is to use my pedals and amp to get the sound I want and record it. But sometimes your not dead sure and then a boring dry guitar track might work better. I often record both the amp and a dry signal. My Boss tuner has 2 outputs. Some interfaces offer a dedicated hi z jack which is a decent option if your plugged in directly. If I do go direct I use a Zoom multi effect pedal last in the pedal chain. My delay pedal is second last My overdrive pedals first. If I want clean and dry I just put the Zoom on bypass mode. The Zoom seems to give me a better punchy track than if I go directly from my guitar. But the thing is there are no rules you can’t break. So just try it. It will either give you a sound you’re after, or suck.

Yes you might want to file that ticket. It should have worked. I’ve done that a zillion times and it has always worked. Only thing I can think of is that the drive your copying to has an issue but that makes no sense too

Funny thing is there's a thread I just read where the OP is mad about the Basic workspace complaining there's way too much stuff still?? Sorry folks, Cakewalk has a lot of stuff. If you don't like that then use Garage Band. I use a lot of software that has a zillion menus. That's what good software needs to have more than basic functions.

Ya, I have scanned all the freebie Delays and downloaded a few. Not even close. It seems odd because delay doesn't have to be as complicated as a lot of them seem to be. I got spoiled by my Yamaha 01v delay which had tap tempo and a very similar interface as the Sonitus. I have been trying the Voxingo Tempo delay that seems the best so far,

I suggested this way back in this thread but the OP has not seemed to follow through with proper trouble shooting. Also MsMcleod pointed out the multi channel set up also involves setting outputs in the VST. The screen shot clearly shows the Cello routed to the Master LR output. My Video very Cleary shows how to insert a multi channel set up using the TTS-1 as example. The instructions will be the same for any instrument that supports multi channel set up. People need to realize that the instrument tracks inserted represent OUTPUT not CHANNELS. That is set within the VST. I believe the corruption might be using this weird Append Instrument function?? I actually had never heard of this feature but I see it is in the track pane dialog. It might have become corrupted in a update but because no one uses it, nobody caught it yet. There is many things not done right here so starting over is best way. I would start a new project, follow the instructions in my video, and drag the midi tracks to the new projects.

You can drag the audio tracks to the time line and that should create a tempo map of the song. Then make a midi drum track with whatever sound you want on the down beat.
