Recommended Posts

a new user has posted a thread about using music to get to/for going to sleep to (to to!) but it's an only post so my paranoia kicked in slightly and i didn't reply there, however i semi-regularly go to sleep to ambient music, so here's a good couple:

sun electric -live 30.7.94

gas - pop

any other recommendations?

I've got hundreds of GB's of what I call brain/mind audio.  Some of it is definitely designed to help you fall asleep.  Ironically, I woke up stupid early (1:30 am) and am just about to go back for more sleep!  (I did get a lot of work done though!)

I'll see what I have that applies and upload some for people to try.

That said, I've been really enjoying several YouBoob channels that feature background music for work and concentration (they're mostly Classical).  Here's two:

Oh, and for the Trance lovers out there, here are a few of my favorite channels there! 😁

I tend to download everything so I can play them offline!

Have you ever tried a YouTube video explaining quantum mechanics?  Works a treat every time.

similarly i often put radio 4 on, the talking just too low to intellectually engage haha

Heres what i posted on the new persons thread…

“Im the opposite. If music is playing I think about it and listen attentively to the many aspects of the music. It kinda wakes up a part of me. I remember going for a massage and having to ask for the relaxing massage type music to be turned off because it was engaging me rather than relaxing me.”

I do much better with something like @Xoo said, a boring lecture or interview.

understood! it's about finding something that you don't have to intellectually engage with 🥱

That, and most people don't realize how much all the frequencies bouncing around their homes keeps their minds active!  I'm talking lights (you want dimmer red lights before sleeping, blue and white are very stimulating!), and all of the electronics (phones, WiFi, etc.).

Now, for me, being the nerd that I am, I can get into a lecture about quantum mechanics even to the point of inquiring about or correcting aspects if I could! 😆

The best sleep environment is in complete darkness and silence, but I've had a few roommates that tend to sleep with their lights on and the TV blaring.  Then they wonder why they're so tired in the morning! SMH...
