Possibly a few details of exactly when this is not working would help clarify your issue. Saying that restarting Cakewalk fixes the issue points at something you are doing is different than normal. I find it far to easy to accidentally hit one of them. Possibly not even realizing it. (Still I'm too lazy to go thru and disconnect the ones I don't want.)
