There is a way to automatically save the downloads.
Use an app that can automatically copy files that are created in user specified folders to another location.
I have done this in the past but forget which app I used.
They are downloaded as ISO files, so you need to mount them before installing.

Sure, I could do that.

Or since most Kontakt instruments live inside a single folder, I could just zip that folder after installation and save the zip file somewhere. If I later needed to install it again, I could just unzip those files and point NA to the right location.

Or NA could just ask me if I wanted to keep the downloaded files and save me the trouble.

You can also extract them with 7zip, probably with some other archive tools too.

 I wish these companies would allow you to go into your account and download the exe. files.

90% of the time any NI update is a fail and retry.  That why they have that uninstaller utility which is a rebranded Window Installer Cleanup.

Amazed at the amount of code they write in the registry.

Some VSTs  like Massive if you delete the 32bit they want you to put it back in and you can get the latest update.
