  1. MusicMaker is actually a free application, but you don't get the $40 credit to buy stuff. My biggest worry is that if I like this that $10 purchase could get expensive. I did some searching and apparently ACID loops work within Music Maker. I have a pretty big collection of those. Of course, they might not work with Songmaker, which is the only thing that intrigues me. Still this could be more fun than the actual versions of ACID, because they crash all the time. Sometimes I just want to drag some loops in like the old days. There are a bunch of freebies on Producer Planet. Even if I don't like Songmaker, that $40 can buy a lot of sound effects in their store, something I definitely want.
  2. In case you didn't see it in their description on their site, the Orchestrator was made in collaboration with Sonuscore. Also, if you didn't see this video in the 200+ Page thread in VIC, it is hysterical.
  3. I've been waiting for them to get to six, but I guess they know that a lot of us are--so it appears they are going to make us wait a bit longer. I would like to get these soon, but I suppose from a certain light it could be better for us. When we make our first bundle we'll have greater choice.
  4. I always thought they were two brands of the same company.
  5. I've liked everything I've ever bought from Sonuscore/Boom. I don't know if I fully understand their marketing approach on this, though. They've positioned it more as a Boom library and the angry name suggests extreme sound design weirdness like Byome or Turnado. But three of the example videos are about vocals.
  6. I have the Steel String Guitar, which I bought for $18 a few years ago. I highly doubt all of them will ever sell for that price, but probably one or two will. 8dio prices their stuff all over the place. A guitar could turn up as a free gift with purchase for all I know. Even though I have a lot of guitars from other companies, I do like the sound of this Steel String. There are a lot of really cool-sounding preset mixes. The main problem I have it is the strumming engine--because it doesn't loop. You want the strumming to continue when you hold down the keys, but it doesn't.
  7. https://www.strezov-sampling.com/products/view/jade.html €287.40 (€479) If you own Balkan Ethnic Orchestra or Rhodope 2 Ethnic Bulgarian Choir, log in to find out abut further discounts. This 1.1 update adds a Guqin and a Bawu, Tibetan bowls and some other percussion, but the big thing is more multi-patches, so you can play different articulations from one patch. That was one of the biggest complaints people had about the first addition. Kudos to Strezov for listening to their customers and making this big update. I look forward to trying it out. When this came out there weren't so many Chinese libraries out there, but since then OT came out with Phoenix, NI definitely has one in the works, and Tarilonte says he is working on one too. Perhaps more significantly there have been a lot of top-level solo instruments that hit the market from Three-Body Technology and Ample Sound. It's not practical for a big library to have all the features that these ones offer for single instruments. I think this is all great, The big question for a new buyer is whether they want to buy a large library like this (and get a ton of instruments) or if they will want to focus on the more full-featured solo libraries. JEO also has a lot of Mongolian stuff, including two choirs, plus instruments from Japan and Vietnam.
  8. I never would have figured this out without all of you. Thanks!
  9. Half price sales with Cinesamples happen all the time, but I've never seen anything like the package they offer in this for $409. ($1644) Includes CineBrass PRO CineStrings SOLO, CineWinds PRO CinePiano Taylor Davis CineBrass Descant Horn. Just looking at the rest of the deal, the big ones sell for two hundred during the 50% off sale. Anybody who has had their eye on Cinesamples... Also it's a good time to get Tina Guo Legato if you don't have it yet.
  10. This is volume two of my three part series on sound effects. The focus is on Ibrido Zero and Soundweaver, but I also show one of my personal tricks: how to make a sound effects instrument. I demonstrate in Kontakt, but it works the same with any sampler, including free ones.
  11. I like the Stefania Maratti flute from Fluffy Audio, and there's a sale on at Fluffy now. Really nice sound and easy to play. They also have a flute freebie. If you're looking for a jazz/rock flute, then Orange Tree Samples' Passion Flute is designed to be that.
  12. For the record, single synths are $5 each at Plugin Boutique (Affiliate Link)
  13. The performance of "Hot Cross Buns" made me very emotional, thinking back to my school days. I played this on my Tonette.
  14. Jason, I hope you will continue the Chinese series with an Erhu. There are several available, but there is not yet one great Erhu out there. I think with the technology of the Qudi, Amplesound could do it. An Ample Sound Erhu as good as the Qudi would become a necessary buy for anybody doing not just Chinese music, but world music. I'm working on a YouTube video comparing all the Yangqin virtual instruments currently available, so I'd of course be interested in what you could do there, but there is already one superb Yangqin on the market. I have no doubt Ample Sound could do something that would be equally good and take a different approach. I would love to hear an Ample Duduk. The Duduk is the only non-virtual world flute I own. But Tarilonte's is really good and I think that Ample Sound is poised to take Chinese instruments further than anybody aside from Three-Body Technology. We need you! Now I'm struggling with what to do about your sale. 😪
  15. I got their Viola Untamed during their intro offer. It is not a typical solo string instrument. It's more in Ben Osterhouse territory, very unique and imaginative.. While I don't need more standard solo string instruments, I will definitely be on the lookout for future sales of their bass, cello, and violin. I'm expect their approach to the piano will be equally special. I am on the lookout for the next sale.
  16. It would be hilarious if YouTube censored me for violence done to fruit and vegetables. I sure hope they do. As a lifelong publicist, I could really run with that story. Thanks for the advice. I'm really focused on my YouTube channel. If anybody ever links to this (like I'm doing on social media and on this page) I always want it to go back to my channel.
  17. Yes, it is an accurate portrait of my mental state.
  18. FYI, this is instrumemt is more commonly called a Dizi in virtual instruments. There are two main kinds of Dizis: The Qudi, which is the one most commonly sampled, and the Bangdi, which is brighter. Generally when you buy a Dizi, it's a Qudi.
  19. Do you like watching a watermelon blown up in ultra-slow-motion? Who doesn't? What about hitting a banana with a baseball bat? Or dropping an egg into a mousetrap? Then my newest video is for you. I admit that it is a product of me learning how to use Adobe Premiere. I also think my version of the Tchaikovsky music using the Cinematic Studio series sounds pretty decent.
  20. I hope that someday UVI does an update that allows Workstation and Falcon to make full use of multi-core computers. This is the main problem with Falcon. Such a great synth but you just can't layer too much without your computer getting tired.
  21. Chris Siu's video sold me on this. First, I didn't know that the cello instrument also has two legato patches. That makes it much more useful. And the harp isn't a standard orchestral one--it's a kind of Noire kind of thing which adds textures to what you play. Plus the typical sound design we know from the Origins series. If you don't have the Origins one it alone is a steal at 10 euros. I paid full intro price for it and was more than happy.
  22. I got this yesterday. This is my first Creator Series, and I was surprised to see that you can get up to 9 drums/percussion instruments on one note! And some of these are pretty poweful drums! I'm sure it is well explained in the demos, but it didn't sink into my head, as when I think of a kit, my brain is programmed to think of it as different instruments on each note. With this you can get a huge kit on one note. And when you start playing these patterns... let's just say full versions of the MIDI files are aimed mainly at the very LOUD end of the spectrum. The demos make this clear. If you make epic music, this will rock you. And I could see how somebody could do a cue for an action movie just using one of the presets. Certainly you wouldn't need much more. At the same time, each production kit has versions that are only high or only low. So you can get some nice variations there. I can see myself using those the most. There are some really great things in there. But what really is great about it is the high quality of the sampling and MIDI patterns. They add up to drum beats that sound as real as they are dynamic. With all the great drums recorded I can make more modest kits for myself that will work very well for my needs. I'm happy with my purchase.
  23. Simeon, Somebody said in VIC that it was very demanding on CPU. Do let us know what your experience is. 😀
