  1. I have V Collection 8 and also have SQ80v. The augmented stuff doesnt interest me, I also found them system hogs, so for $99 upgrade I would get KORG MS-20 V + a few of the existing instruments upgraded. Its a hold off for me anyway :D

I also have FX Collection 2 and can upgrade to 4 for $69 .. seems it has 4 new additions

    https://support.arturia.com/hc/en-us/articles/9023960780700-What-s-new-in-FX-Collection-4-

    Again I dont think so

However for €87 I can upgrade my ableton 11 to the new v12 .. so most likely thats the choice I will make

I own the xils one , dont know what s different with this one ,  i also found that cherry poly s can be cpu hogg from time to time ..

And they can be a cpu hog, i think, for one reason in certain presets - when it has this MAX VOICES option or similar and its dialed up:

Otherwise I find there vsts quiet good and dont take up too much resources  inside projects vs other vsts like say Arturia

Any reason to even think about FL Studio if I have Reaper?

I have CW and then also have Reaper, Ableton, FL Studio, Reason Intro 11.

I ended up with Reason Intro 11 purely because it has a plugin where all its instruments and efx can be used inside other DAWs. I use Reaper because other band members have MACs and cannot use CW so great to pass projects from CW to Reaper on there MACs and back.

I bought ABLETON at a reduced price, probably via Black Friday because I really like its Session view for creating ideas. Closest  in CW is the matrix view but that needs alot of attention still I think.

I then picked up FL STUDIO, again at a sale like currently .. I like some of its internal EFX and instruments and again use it for creativity. I think its worth the punt for the price and lifetime updates, new versions etc

  4. And also remember if you do use loops and FL Studio Cloud does not cut it as good as Loopcloud, you can still use loopcloud in FL Studio via its usual VSTs. So integration of Loopcloud is pretty much sameas FL Studio Cloud really

  5. @satya Just had a look while installing fresh copy of FL Studio on a system with new SSD.

From inside FL STUDIO  it Looks like I get FL Studio Cloud ANNUAL for €19.99 ( vs the €49.99 ). Bit of a no brainer considering I dumped LoopCloud recently as the best they could do was €80 for the year

Mmmm thats interesting. If i click on CHOOSE THIS PLAN on right I get this:

  6. @GoncaloL I have a good few of there plugins for drums, bass, Guitar etc. I find them uselful for ideas creation and started things.  A recent synthwave track we are doing - it started with a drum groove from the obviously 80s VICE ( drums ) plugin. Synthwave style being what I call new 80s music ( eg the 1975, The Midnight, FM-84 etc )

    https://www.ujam.com/beatmaker/vice/

I am a guitarist but like the idea of again using them for even guitar ideas / inspiration - even the presets - which I then might transfer to me actually playing a similar line after or a mix of both.

  7. In a nutshell @PavlovsCat .. the music industry in general got repeatedly destroyed from late 90s on once the MP3 ( Napster etc ) came to the fore. The concept of FREE Music was born. The rot set in further as the years passed and Music as a product lost its value completely. The expectation of Music being FREE is now well and truely embedded. Why should I spend my cash on Music i can get it FREE at xxxxxxxxxx ...

I dont think there is any way to turn this around now

  8. Got this email this morning from

    https://www.wusik.com

The email content is at that link above, front page. the gist is:

"The Covid-19 pandemic has brought about unprecedented challenges for people around the world, and the music industry has not been immune to its effects. Sales of virtual plugin instruments and synthesizers on Wusik.com have seen a significant decline since the pandemic began. This decline has had a profound impact on my ability to sustain and grow the business ..

.. I need your support. My goal is to raise at least $1,000 per month on Patreon. This financial support will not only help me maintain the existing projects and plugins but also enable me to invest in the growth of Wusik.com."

It is interesting and def seeing it here in Ireland ( major center for all the biggest tech companies in the world - Dublin Silicon Docks etc ) .. all these tech companies are aggressively downsizing staff wise. So much empty office space in Dublin now, there are moves to convert it to private use converted to appartments etc.

Recently saw that EPIC announced a good few 100 layoffs.  One thing covid period did is see a certain irrational exuberence in the tech industry who for some reason went off on huge recruitment spree's and now, having employed too many, are cutting just as fast.

I imagine Wusik and other plugin developers at the smaller end of the market are suffering with this cost of living squeeze going on globally where discretionary cash is what gets hit first, especially in the hobbiest end of things

I have a feeling WUSIK is not the only biz of its kind finding it tough now ( I can put my hands up and say I am finding the going tough particularly since early 2023 ), I imagine more will surface in 2024

    I'm not having these issues.

This sort of thing is why it's a good thing to do to list your system specs in your sig, as I do.

In addition to what's listed in my sig, I also use the Realtek onboard in my laptop (WASAPI Exclusive) and a Presonus Studio 2|4 (ASIO, natch).

Dont know what it is tbh.

Via ASIO or WASAPI exclusive I get the same thing. CW audio glitches, gaps and eventually falls over with Audio Engine drop out - on various project files with midi, just wavs, both. Pre this version I had no issues for a long long time, worked like a dream. It seems I am not alone here either.

I am also noticing presets, particularly in ARTURIA vsts being dropped / reset every time I open the project

I also have Ableton 11 Standard and Fruity Loops .. along with Reaper, all working perfectly. I even recreated the same project in all 3 DAWs and they all work fine with it - 3 audio guitar tracks, 4 midi tracks using Arturia synths and efx.

So for now, sadly, Ill have to stick with Reaper & other DAWs listed to get work done. In CW I have over 50 projects at various stages over the years. Im just hoping another bug fix turns up for CW or the new version comes along soon, sub or otherwise

    SPEC - Core i5, 16gb Ram, 2TB Samsung Evo SSD, Audient EVO 4 I/F ( Asio )

I use it a lot and I've noticed no difference in that respect here.

Just like me, many here seem to have issues with Audio dropouts and the like since recent update.

I wonder is it a Audio I/F diver thing that it and CW latest update are not playing nice together? We all use an Audio I/F but different ones. For example i use an Audient EVO 4, other Focusrite and so on. Are people who are lucky enough not having problems using an I/F thats plays nice with the latest CW update?

Might be helpful if people w/o issues and with mentioned there Audio I/F and spec maybe?

Besides the audio dropouts this new update seems to have screwed up my VSTs, started getting errors in projects that the VST could not be found. Have had to reset and rescan. Also the presets originally selected get lost.

Since yesterday I have been having the same problem as other users, crashes in the audio engine... I have followed different recommendations in the ASIO configuration and I have also reinstalled and updated the version of Cakewalk by Bandlab and none of this has solved the problem. ..

    Doc1_1.jpg

I have not been using CW for about 2 months on my system. I have been working with a project in REAPER with another band member who has a MAC so can not use CW in this case. Came back to CW and updated it to current, also re scanned plugins etc.

Working on a simple project with 3 guitar / Wav tracks, 5 midi tracks using arturia synths ( same project is in REAPER ) . Unusable, audio dropouts regular, sound dropping out and back, crackles regardless of what I set the buffer size too. I am using an AUDIENT EVO 4 with latest ASIO drivers installed. All this on a core i5, 16GB ram and 2TB Samsung EVO SSD.

For comparison -  Reaper is having no issues what so ever with a carbon copy of the same project ..

BTW I am getting the same drop outs and crackles even with the inbuilt crap sound card using WASAPI etc in the system with CW but not Reaper. I also notice the sound quality not great, bottom end gone, very toppy, nasty

This is all new, was not happening at all 2 months ago, rock solid when I was working with project containing 30 tracks or so

  12. I get you @Carl Ewing .. And from what you describe most of your subs are for software that is used to make money from clients so they pay for themselves via charge built into client fees?

Where it becomes a drain to speak is things like ( optional I know ) Spotify, Netflix, Prime, SKY TV and the like + all other ESSENTIAL monthly bills.

I was more flagging that already some of these subs are increasing and thats an issue .. they are almost stealth increases year on year OR every few years and I would be afraid once we are all on the sub hook for everything we could theeen see a pattern of endless year on year monthly sub hikes.

Many people BTW do not ( and they should ) look at there monthly bank statements and query same on a regular basis. I have had clients who discover a sub for say an antivirus they stopped using years back and they are still "unknowingly" paying monthly/annually for it.

Where I really noticed this sub creep was in biz accounts online. I started paying Quickbooks €14.99 a  month  a few years back now we are at €25 for same thing. I will be looking at that shortly to see if I can step down to lower sub.

    https://thehustle.co/11052019-free-trial-subscription-creep/

    https://innotechtoday.com/subscription-price-creep-is-real-heres-how-to-push-back/

I suppose I am also seeing this alongside the high cost of living last year  or 2 ( inc food ) in Ireland and the off the scale Energy / Motor fuel costs now + rent and house prices and the like. It does all add up esp if much of it cannot be clawed back from  a client fee

In music terms I am not a music biz .. just a personal muso/amateur
