  1. GREAT NEWS - Alex and Geddy just announced that RUSH is back on the road 2026 with every show in part an homage to Neil: Here are the dates SO FAR .. Lucky US people 🙂 .. love the symbolism of the 3 birds in this pic 🧡 AND the new drummer is the amazing ANIKA NILLES .. Check her out live here
  2. @Amberwolf Ill keep ye posted The 80s being a very good time for Madonna I decided to go that route with the "remix" - plenty of distorted overdriven guitar in the chorus. Used UJAM drums - the BM-VICE 80s drum plugin, 4 to the floor with occasional tamberine off beats. We stripped all the EFX off the Maj vocal stem as best we could so I could re effect it with straight forward verb using Echoboy and Raum. With the guitar in the verse I made up 2 new counter lines. Chorus guitar using plenty of whammy and overdrive. So did it this way as a back to the 80s remix, maybe the way it would have been done then, as the track was done in 1998. This rather than the usual "dance2 DJ remix type thing. Not sure if i can post it here, probably not .. However I wonder if people are at Labelradar can they search for an artist and see a comp submission. I am under COLOURTIDE ( www.colourtide.com ) .. Its an originals project since late 80s, same members. Resurgence last 3, 4 years with use of cloud as some members area abroad in US. putting together 12 - 14 new original tracks at the moment. One is at the website above called "GETTIN ON"
  3. Not out of it yet .. new notification: "Thank you for taking part in the Beatport presents: Madonna Global Remix Contest - "Ray of Light" Contest! The submission period has now ended and the curators will continue reviewing the entries. You'll receive a notification if you make the finalist shortlist (if you haven't already). Best of luck!"
  4. @Nitrate Audio The competition link is: https://www.labelradar.com/contests/madonnarayoflightglobalremixchallenge/portal STEMS link on the right, I think you have to sign into the competition to get them. BUT the deadline has passed so maybe they wont allow stem download anymore
  5. About the stems for this Madonna RAY OF LIGHT competition. We found more flakeyness The vocal line particularly is all over the place BPM wise, it changes throughout. We had to use melodyne pro to sort this out somewhat. I dont know if this was from the original recording back in the day 1998 or what.
  6. Thanks @Amberwolf - Like I said FLAKEY. Does beatport own labelradar? If not then you would imagine Beatport should have the say as to whether paying LR members get bumped to the top and not much heed paid to the Free people. If it is that way then all there remix challenges are a complete waste of time unless you pay LR. should be an email even to say you are entered subject to review
  7. Entered/uploaded submission for this remix competition yesterday. Still have not had any emails or indication I am entered or not. Sounds kinda flakey tbh. Or its very busy I imagine. I wonder is it enough to have it submitted at labelradar? Deadline was over hour ago 11.59pm pt or 6.59am gmt

  9. Any way I think TONEX is a great innovation. Do not have the pedal yet BUT will wait for black friday and see if any deals on that
  10. Fair point @IK Multimedia .. in my case above I just was highlighting a better price Europe vs USA. Plus it has this GROUP coupon that reduces the price further. As to how JRRshop manage there taxes that is surely there responsibility?
  11. To BUY tonex is now €49.99 vs €149 at: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/tonex/index.php?p=info#top VAT is added if outside US HOWEVER am i right in saying this is the same software at JRRSHOP? https://www.jrrshop.com/ik-multimedia-tonex.html If so its $49.99 but when GROUP is used its down to $41.99
  12. Bump .. @Noel Borthwick .. any way to customise the UI colors in NEXT? Is BLACK / Dark the only theme?
  13. I tried this, didnt buy yet, just wondering how it works at JRRSHOP? It doesnt allow you to choose your 5 plugins, just goes straight to cart/checkout. I assume you get codes to then use over at UJAM?
  14. As with most software these days its SUBSCRIPTION or ONE TIME PURCHASE here - this is the 2025 edition pricing: https://www.coreldraw.com/en/product/coreldraw €30.75pm OR €779 ONE TIME So i know this deal is for 2024 edition BUT at €60 ONE TIME its a no brainer really if it floats your boat. I used to use it ages ago but stopped upgrading once I found AFFINITY. The Affinity suite when NOT ON SALE is €179 ONE OFF inc tax. On sale it has been as low as €99 I think .. https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/
  15. As @pedwal wally wally wha said - check the AUDIO folder insire the cakewalk project folder. In there should be the WAVs of the audio takes? If so, at least you can rebuild the project from them. Also for project files ( .CWP ) isnt there an auto save on? If so I think the autosaves go into the "\Cakewalk Projects\Audio Data" folder?
  16. So as the title says - Any way to change the "theme" colours in NEXT? Had a look in preferences, nothing there. Is the black theme it, no way to change?
  17. Am I noticing changes in CW Sonat since this latest update - Cakewalk_Sonar_Release_Setup_31.07.0.084? 1. The 15 sec timer seems to have dropped to about 5 or 6 seconds? 2. When you close sonar after that initial timer screen and reopen, the timer DOES NOT happen again. The release notes say "The Free-Tier of Sonar does not display the membership promo page when successively restarting the application."
  18. I had an old version of NEXT installed that did not work anymore, uninstalled it a while back. Through the Product Centre I installed NEXT again and surprisingly saw this up top right: In previous versions this was not there, it was 30 day trial type stuff. So have they now gone and done the same thing with NEXT? Made it "Free" for core tools usage but you pay for MORE? LOOKS LIKE IT:
  19. YES @ilunga But if you install the Product Center and load, it gives you options to install Cakewalk Sonar etc .. as per image below: I have an old version of NEXT installed which i am about to uninstall, same goes for CbB ..
  20. Mike at CREATIVE SAUCE has answered some Questions re the new FREE tier Sonar: Might be worth reading the comments under the video also. I am sure more observations there
  21. And @Brian Walton .. Sadly so many people use Macs AND PROTOOLS still. This goes for many studios also. Jeez I HATE protools. Our drummer is one of them, .. luckily our keyboard player who is also a sound engineer has protools, so he has to make a protools project out of the reaper project - essentially using stems
  22. Yes .. every so often we still have to do a login to bandlab/renew license type thing with CbB. One could argue this is not too far off whats being asked with the new Free Sonar, that is, wait 15 seconds and off you go. It has to be mentioned too i suppose, that the new Free Sonar will be regulary updated now while CbB will no longer be. To wait for 15 seconds, I dont see that as a big issue TBH, but then that me. I have quiet a few DAWs i collected over the years - Ableton, FL Studio, Reason, Waveform 13 Pro, Reaper, latest free Studio One, Luna - all installed but mainly use Cakewalk and Reaper. In a band with 4 others, three have Macs, two have PCs - Reaper is a good solution as a reasonable DAW for CROSS PLATFORM Work. I then use Azslow's ReaCWP installed in Reaper which allows you to open Cakewalk/Sonar project files directly in Reaper and from there Save as .rpp reaper project file. https://www.azslow.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=57 Outside that, of all the other DAWS, I would use ableton the most. I never paid full price for a DAW. Over the years I would avail of black friday and other offers to climb on the ladder, then upgrade from there. Actually I did pay full price for Reaper - princely sum of $60 I am happy with the Cakewalk / Reaper usage along with Azslows tool to open CW projects in Reaper. Best of all worlds .. especially when working with Mac band members as Sonar is not available on MAC. As a band and as we are scattered all over - US and Ireland. We use the cloud exclusively with Reaper Project files. Shared Google Drive folder. All project folders uploaded there. We all open them from the cloud in Reaper, do our edits and additions and then SAVE DIRECTLY to the Google drive folder .. not using the local computers drives at all. The google drive folder is added to windows/mac file managers via google drive for desktop: https://support.google.com/drive/answer/10838124?hl=en
  23. So - things you can do during the 15 second evaluation screen: Ill start - Go make that cup of Joe - Tune de guitar
  24. On the Reaper License thing. This blog post explains it pretty well: https://nolabelnoproducernolimits.com/indie/production/reaper/reaper-license/ Your Reaper license is a perpetual, one-time purchase. You don't ever have to pay for it again. But . . . Upgrades You can use whatever version you buy, until you die of old age or AI-driven robots enslave us all. In practicality, you'll want to upgrade. Your Reaper license covers two versions of Reaper. So if you buy @ version 7.34, you'll be good until version 9.0. This will likely last a few years. I've done the math and my Reaper expenses work out to just a little over $1/month for the past 14 years or so. What If I Don't Want To Upgrade? Don't, then. You'll miss out on new features, but Reaper is yours to use. MY COMMENT: I did go looking ( NOT VERY HARD ) for this detail at the Reaper site and tbh did not find it very obviously. Not even on the purchase page: https://www.reaper.fm/purchase.php
