  1. This is a good song that is very close to a good mix. The performances are rock solid, and I think John's ideas are worth trying. This will be stellar when you get it just so!
  2. If you ever meet Steven King - beware!! You could write a story based on this. Maybe you already have~~~
  3. Aside from all the mixing suggestions, this is just a cool song with a hint of Talking Heads kind of vibe. I like your voice very much, and I think that doubling it makes sense, like Mark said. I like your responses to some of the critiques; I feel a strong sense of confidence in your work, and I look forward to hearing more.
  4. This is so beautifully conceived and executed that it shows off your mastery of sound and light. Universes get started this way!
  5. Thanks, Freddy! Maybe it's time we put our heads together. I've always appreciated your support. Steve, being a fan of yours, I really thank you for your kind words!
  6. I think this is a terrific recording and song! Though I'm not a fan of Landr, this works OK for this song. I like things that are a little different, and this sounds just fine, as is, to my ears. I'm looking forward to your next song!
  7. What a pleasant surprise! This is so different and clever that I'm in awe. It's very professional and polished and deserving of a large audience. A+
  8. You've gotten good advice here on the mix, but, overall, this song has the potential to be a gem. The lyrics are quite good, and if you make the vocal shine, this will be stellar. Well done!
  9. This is a nice way to start my day. Your unpredictability is one of your greatest talents.
  10. I love the sound of this, and especially the Iridium. Superb production all the way!
  11. A beautiful song sung in a lovely setting just adds to the depth of the message. Thanks for sharing this with us!
  12. Thank you, Paul, for your time and kind words! Cheers to you, as well!
  13. Another classic from you! The words made me nostalgic, so close to events that I've been through. I really like the chord progression in this, as well as the arrangement, which is quite sophisticated and unpredictable. All in all, very inspirational.
  14. Everything about this is top notch! These lyrics really speak to me, so kudos there. Keep it up!
  15. Makke, thanks for taking the time to listen and respond! Glad you liked it.

Just what I said about turning the vocal up. All else is clear and well panned.
  17. Classic! A cut above, etc., etc. Time for a video of you playing?

Jack, you have such a unique approach to songwriting that makes it interesting to listen to even if the mix is a little off. In this case, my only crit is that the lead vocal could be louder so that the words can be understood better. Overall, your voice is well recorded and clear, just not quite loud enough for my old ears. You write interesting songs, and I can hear the time and thought that goes into each one, so let those lyrics shine!
  19. Wow, I really like this song! Your vocal is very strong and convincing and well performed. This has a retro vibe, yet a modern sound. A little less reverb would make this sound closer to the listener and more intimate, but I like reverb, so it belongs regardless. Good songwriting!

I never get tired of hearing a Fender guitar played like this. I might bring the background instruments up in the mix, but it works quite well, as is. Good job, Makke!
  21. Hi Tom, thanks so much for your kind words! The overly colorized f/x clips are using a stock video f/x in Vegas 12 called "unsharp mask", and the light beams are an f/x called "rays". I fiddled with them a bit and ended up with what you see. I have much to learn when it comes to making videos, but I hope to catch up a bit this year, as I want to make more videos. Cheers to you!

    Camp

We've come a long way since camp Granada (hello mother, hello father). I used to live in Portland in 1986 and hung out at Apple music. I wonder if we ever ran into each other. Anyway, if I ever go camping again, I'll remember this! Nice job, David.
  23. OK, I'll pay the ransom! The dead can dance (I've seen them). I love the sounds and textures that you've created in this. Another inspirational piece for synth fans like me.

This is the kind of music that I like to listen to when I've had a hard day. It makes me want to get my acoustic out and play it, but I never get the results that I want. Maybe all it takes is something inspirational like this.
  25. Rex, you made Audio-Technica very happy, I suspect. I've used the AT-4033 for years and have been very happy with it. This song is beautiful, and sounds very pleasant over all my playback systems. I hope that it gets the airplay that it deserves.
