  1. Regardless of how a GUI is made, it can be designed with customization in mind if the company chooses to do so. The original X series Skylight interface was not, but it was somewhat adaptable. The new one probably less so. Is what it is.
  2. Confusion is an understatement on this matter. If there's good documentation or videos explaining how Workspaces and screensets work together, I've not found one.
  3. 1. Did you start by creating a brand new template or using a different one? 2. Try clicking the global record button in the Mix Module on and off.
  4. Once you setup each Screenset the way you want it, simply hit the top row number keys to toggle between them. Keep in mind that Track View is the main view while Console View, PRV, Staff View, and all others are Multidock views. While in them, hitting D key will toggle the Track View. For Screenset 1 you can have Console View in the Multidock and use D to toggle between it and Track View. Or you can have Console View in it's own Screenset, but the D key behavior will be the same. Inspector and Browser, as well as the other views, can be added to or removed from any view or float independently. Browser can also be docked in Multidock. Naming each Screenset will help avoid confusion. To save the Screensets for future projects, save the current project as a Project Template (eg. myfavoritescreensets.cwt) in the Project Templates folder and it will show up in the Start Screen under New Project. 5. Images are still broken on the https version, so to see them in context the "s" has to be removed. Don't know why this can't be fixed. Removing the "s" from https doesn't always work in Chrome unless the right settings are in place but not sure what they are. It works without incident in MS Edge.
  6. Yes it's oddly on the legacy site but clearly labeled "CakewalkSonar". The link is all I know about but it seems pretty straight forward.
  7. The orange Toasty Sonar reminder only occurs when you're online. I might be concerned if my DAW is offline because I won't see it or know why CbB is shutting down in the middle of a session or project when a date sensitive detonation device that may have been implanted in the final update goes off.
  8. Not in CbB. "Customization\Backup/Restore Settings" is in new Sonar. https://legacy.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=CakewalkSonar&language=3&help=Introduction.34.html
  9. They do it on TV all the time . . . A person could also look for free sample sources online.
  10. Basically they're someone else's custom themes.
  11. Been a while since I've used that. For me, V-Vocal can only be used in 32 bit DAWs as it crashes every 64 bit SONAR/CbB I have, so it's unusable here. It also doesn't seem as intuitive for separating out different sounds if it can at all.
  12. Looks like v4 was the last one to work with Win7 but you might ask Celemony about those points. info@celemony.com
  13. I think you can Save-As the project to a new folder and only necessary files will transfer over. They should all be date stamped by right click > Properties, tho modern Windows Explorers can goof these up at times.
  14. Your best bet is to record the samples "clean" in a "quiet" room or else only record during the quiet cycle of equipment like refrigerators. Noise separation is hit and miss for most software. Normally they rely on a constant sound that can only be isolated if that sound is already singled out somewhere on the recording. But since some sound frequencies overlap, removing them can still cause some degradation to the remaining sound - which can give the underwater effect you mention. Melodyne can sometimes separate such sounds into blobs that can be individually deleted. It might work with Sonar 8.5 as a VST but may be better used standalone.

  16. Most obviously definitely Them Themes . . . "Old Cakewalk" = Cakewalk by BandLab or CbB Sonar Free Tier vs CbB: 1 Arranger track vs many Arranger tracks No Plugin Oversampling vs Yes No Elastique Pro vs Yes No POWR Dithering vs Yes
  17. Works here. Screensets will maintain track and bus CV strip widths but have trouble maintaining hardware output strip widths. Projects saved with narrow hardware strips will occasionally open with wide strips. A bug inherited by CbB from earlier versions but never fixed. A similar bug is with PRV track pane width and settings. They have to be reset each time project is opened even if screenset is locked. More tips: Screensets can be renamed for quicker recall. Each Screenset has it's own Multidock which can have different views than the other screensets. D can be used to toggle between a screenset and it's Multidock - unless it's empty. Best way to keep a favorite Screenset group is by creating a project template.
  18. Even tho documentation says: "Window Layout. Load the saved window layout, including size and position. This option functions as a global screenset, I'm not so sure. Workspaces will ultimately reset custom Screensets, even when returning to None. Another reason I avoid them. They also seem to do weird things with track icons. I use large icons but when switching Workspaces it tries to load large icons in small icon spacing misaligning the strip height in Inspector.
  19. It's not foolproof so let me know how it goes. Screensets are included in the Manager only to display or not the module. I've noticed when loading a project with a custom Workspace/Screenset combo, the main custom screenset loads with no numbers lit in the module. Great if you never change to another screenset. The moment you do the default screensets take over. Only way to return to the custom screenset is to reload the Workspace, and then only #1 will load. Ugh. Nice thing about Screensets is that they can be renamed differently in each project.
  20. Although Screensets are per-project, the default sets are loaded and used in every project until you change one before saving a project. FWIW, using Screensets, Workspaces, and Templates together can create confusion and a lot of users have been tripped up due to not understanding exactly what's going on with them.
  21. Great. All I know is, tho it worked without incident, I kept getting reactivation errors with 2024.07. With 2024.12 you get the never ending toast reminder about Sonar when online. Not even in compatibility mode?
  22. This is what Screensets are for. Once they're set up how you want them, just hit the Screenset number (or top row number key) to flip back-n-forth. Screensets are project specific. Workspaces are global affecting all projects until changed.
  23. Can you automate the Global PC Enable button in Sonar? You can automate individual PC modules ON/OFF in CbB, but there's no option in the dropdown menu for the Global button, which remains lit when they're all off.
  24. It helps when users post in their native language as most browsers have a translate feature.
