  1. Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I currently own the guitar VIs that came with Komplete 12 Ultimate CE, and although the sound quality is quite good, the flexibility in getting the pattern I want is poor. So, probably like most folks, I just use them for inspiration. And that's why I'm interested in the Acoustic Samples' VIs: they seem to allow you to create an arbitary strum/pick pattern. Cheers...
  2. I just watched a few videos, and these VIs seem very versatile and also sound good. Can any owners confirm (or deny)? $99 for all four seems like a good deal...
  3. My update of Synsations started off slow (showing 2 hrs to complete), but actually finished while I went downstairs to make lunch (~20 min).
  4. I already have two preset packs and don't even own Ovox yet. I hope they run a sale on this soon...
  5. I've been spoiled by Convology XT, DragonFly, LittlePlate, MuVerb, Oril River, Polaris, ProtoVerb, Raum, Rev Plate-140, etc. ;-)
  6. The plugin I mentioned (part of the Ozone 8 suite) is also called Imager. I was responding to someone who asked if they could use the Imager in Ozone, so I assumed they meant the full version. Izotope should give the free version a different name like Imager SE or Little Imager (like SoundToys). Cheers...
  7. Thanks, Larry. I tried it, but all the presets sound the same. Oh well.
  8. The reverb doesn't seem to be available anymore. Just flying VIs.
  9. You can also narrow the stereo image using Ozone Imager. In fact, you can specify *any* width you like (in four separate bands) from -100 (mono) to 0 (normal) to +100 (wide).
  10. A few months ago I discovered the SansAmp PSA-1 in my collection of plugins while looking for something to fix a poorly recorded guitar track and this was the only one that worked. It produces some really unusual sounds. I had forgotton I installed it.
  11. I use the Ozone Imager on my 2-bus for exactly this purpose and it works great.
  12. Yes, I agree. And that's why I don't understand all the grief about WUP. If your plugins continue to work after your support expires, who cares what they charge for WUP.
  13. Just curious, why all the anxiety over the WUP? Is it really necessary that you purchase an update plan after your 'free' year of updates expires? Why not just take a pass? In all the years I've been buying plugins, I don't recall even one that became incompatible with the DAWs I use (the obvious exception was the transition from 32 to 64 bits). Has it been the case that Waves plugins in particular become incompatible over time? If not, I'll just continue using my current plugins without paying for the WUP.
  14. Definitely different styles, but I've learned a lot from both of them. There are so many really talented folks putting out how-to videos today that you could spend your entire day just learning. So my strategy is to watch one in the morning and then put the new info to work in one of my mixes before it's lost. It's hard to believe that I once made music with just a 4-track Tascam Porta One and no Internet. How primitive!
  15. The Dan Worrall videos are very compelling; there's something about his voice that really enhances a plugin. I guess that's why there are so many of his videos out there. He's like that movie trailer guy: "In a small town (bang!) ... lived a man (bang bang!) ... with a dark secret (bang bang bang!) ...
  16. I certainly don't need another delay, but watched the video out of curiosity. This is obviously more than just another delay. Has this ever sold for less than $49?
  17. I agree -- high EQ numbers are OK. I just applied this to a second mix and the results are really *fantastic* -- very musical. I like the EQ on this thing better than the Maag EQ4 (which has been my goto character EQ until now). However the compressor is truly bizare -- I've tried it on a few things and it makes everything sound bad. Then again I thought the same thing about the (Waves) SSL Comp within the console. However as a stand-alone plugin it's great and is used often. The deesser on this thing seems like it could be used in the expander mode to add some vibe to a mix; and this is easy to do given the ability to listen to the frequency you want to hype. Overall it's definitely worth $25. Cheers...
  18. Thanks for the suggestion; the problem seemed to be my setup. I tried again today and got it to work without having to first bounce audio. It's much more convenient to work 'live' this way. Cheers...
  19. I just tried the demo of the Focusrite Console and noticed that I needed to dial-in some very large EQ gains compared to what I would typically use with other console emulations. Also the compressor is the least transparent of any that I've ever used. This is the first time that I've used a Focusrite Console and am wondering if this is normal or if I'm doing something wrong. I should mention that in the end I did managed to get something fairly decent sounding, but was surprised by the settings I had to use to get it.
  20. I picked up Stutter Edit and successfully applied it to a clip on an audio track. However I prefer to apply it to a VI in realtime on an instrument track (in Cubase) but have not been able to get it to work. Stutter Edit responds to the data on the midi track, but it does not modulate the audio on the instrument track. Has anyone been able to do this?
  21. Hmm. It looks a lot like Cableguys' ShapperBox. I wonder if it also needs to contact its license server every 7 days like Vocal Splitter.
  22. Do all WA Productions plugins need to contact a licensing server every 7 days?
