  1. Thanks, Aaron. I'm intrigued by the concept.
  2. Aaron, I still just can't quite wrap my head around this compressor. I've had it since the inital release but its operation is not intuitive to me. It would be great if you would make a tutorial video.
  3. I was thinking about this and searched around to see if the subject was already covered. Has this been discussed? Most other major DAWs are.
  4. Yep, that's what I had to do.
  5. I love the rooms, especially Studio 2 for drums but the secret weapons are the plates, the chambers and the booths.
  6. I did a reinstall of TRacks and now it's there.
  7. I grabbed it but I don't think it has a standalone vst. I've only been able to run it inside TRacks. Am I missing something?
  8. Wouldn't that require a monitor controller as well as the Studio box? That may be an added expense some folks may not want. It only has one ST I/O. I would think you'd have to run mains out to the box and then to a controller to switch between different speakers. Also, you would then have to open the software to switch profiles. A bit clunky for a multi-monitor setup. A system-wide software solution is a more elegant solution, I think. I still think Arc Studio is a great idea for a one monitor pair setup. Perfect for a little workstation rig.
  9. That's how I do it, sort of. All tracks and AUXs come into the SubMix, where all the bus processing is. That feeds the Master, which has meters and HP sends (after 2-bus effects, before correction), which feeds the ARC bus, where the correction plugins are. That outputs to my mains. When exporting, I just turn off the FX bin on the ARC bus.
  10. Turning off room correction before bounce, for me, is just muscle memory. It's like forgetting to hit the record button and the artist wants to murder me after missing a perfect take. Lesson learned quickly! I think the Studio box is a good solution for studios with one set of monitors and an interface with comparable A/D/A specs. For me, it's not a viable option as I have multiple monitors and a live room with listen-back speakers. I use an Audient Nero as my central monitor station and it's one of the best studio purchases I've ever made. Amazing little box, really. I also bought the RME UFX3, in part, because of the converters. It sounds amazing. For me, I think the box would be a downgrade. I'm not sure I'll upgrade to ARC4, personally. Though I have both, I prefer Sonarworks to ARC3 in my studio as I think it gives me a more accurate picture of the low end in my room. And, with the cans profiles I can use it with cue mixes. I just have to remember not to be an idiot and turn off the correction!
  11. I know there are Virtual channels in Console. Maybe there's a way to do it using them?
  12. Do you have an interface with loopback? Although I haven't tried it I imagine it would work. I have a MOTU M2 with loopback so now I'm wondering if it would work with it as well. I don't have time today but I'll give it a bash and report back.
  13. I just tried it and it works great with Sonarworks. I don't have a current calibration profile for ARC3 so it wouldn't load but it works as expected with Sonarworks. TotalMix lets me route anything to anything so I use an unused MADI I/O with loopback.
  14. Where do the files download to? There is no settings tab in the Product Center.
  15. I use Element all the time but never thought to use it with ARC. I use it to build VST chains and use loopback in RME's TotalMix FX to track and record with any plugin in real time.
  16. I don't think I would want to have this hardware box be the last converters in the chain instead of the converters in my RME UFX3.
  17. I've been using Element plugin host for this and it works flawlessly and is free. I use the loopback in RME's TotalMix FX with an unused channel. I use Element to build FX chains, which I can then use to track through in real time. https://kushview.net/element/
  18. Yep, that was it. Thanks a mil, Jonathan! Not sure how that got checked.
  19. Hi all, Not sure how it happened but I suddenly cannot start a new project, set the metronome and hit play and have the audio engine start. I get one beat and then it cuts out. Any ideas? I can't start a groove in Superior Drummer 3 by hitting play either. I must have inadvertantly changed something, methinks. Thanks for the help. Tommy
  20. I agree. I have it and love it. Great on just about anything.
  21. The Rolling Stones mobile recording truck had a custom Helios in it. Think of all the records made on that console!
  22. It's one of those boards I would have loved to have tracked through but I'm sure they wouldn't have let me through the door because I was, like, five 🙂. It does this wonderful thing when you turn the bass EQ just on; there is a lovely "whump" in the low end. Hard to describe but you'll hear it when you do it. It wasn't a subtle console so there is a ton of color. Push the pre and it gets growly in a great way.
  23. It's a Helios emulation and I have always liked it. They got the low end bump when you engage the LF right. The UAD version is my absolute go-to for tracking electric guitars through Unison. I have often used the Kramer HLS on the tracks after recording.
  24. I really like Bandcamp. In my genre, Celtic music, most of the bands and artists I love have their music on Bandcamp, which is where I buy their music. I've discovered quite a few new ones as well. And they are artists who tour extensively, both in Europe and here. I don't know what their total share of sales come from Bandcamp but it's very easy to find and buy their music. Also, a main plus is the ability to download 24/48 wave files of the recordings, not just lossy files. I retired from touring and live performances twenty years ago and nowadays that is really the only way to make a living as a pure musician. By that I mean someone who's career is primarily performance-focused. I was that for decades but in order to continue to make a living in music I had to adapt and change as life changed. Marriage, kids and all that comes with it made me need to change my lifestyle and my strategy. For the last couple of decades I've run a small recording studio and have enough clients from that, along with teaching, a bit of session work and some consulting, that I don't need to rely on the income from album sales or touring any more . So for me, Bandcamp is a perfect place to put my music and send clients and others to it check out and maybe toss some money my way.
