Well, I just checked every Avenger expansion. Sadly for me, almost all of them are indeed dance oriented.
Lots of acid, disco, doorstep, drum & bass, hardstyle, hip hop, house, moonbahton, psy, rave, techno, trance, trap, tropical and whatever EDM genre you’d like.
It’s obvious what Avenger’s main orientation is and I’m definitely not into that.
Furthermore, the few non-dance Avenger expansions I could verify are clearly not on par with Falcon’s huge library of ambient and organic patches and expansions like Fluidity, Plurality, Ether Fields, VOKLM or all the Simon Stockhausen collections.

@Fleer - if you become familiar with Avenger, you can simply turn off the arps and suggested patterns. What you get then for each preset is a wonderful palette of well-curated sounds that work together to use as a starting point of a song with your own ideas and your own playing.

  2. I have Avenger 2 now.  Loading it, it requests the Factory Content.  Where do you download the factory content from?  I'm searching all over for it to download fresh from Vengeance.  Anyone know?   I have the Avenger 1 content, but this new version has new content I believe.

Oh! I found it!  It's in the Expansions area.  It's listed alphabetically, under the Fs.  Vengeance sure could make that more obvious!

  3. In September 2023 Positive Grid released version v2_6_1_6290.  It's fantastic.  Some new amp sounds. The DSP is improved. The sound is killer.  The UI looks fantastic.  Totally digging it.

In Nov 2023 they release version v2_7_0_6600.  On my Windows machine (I use Studio One Pro) the screen resolution is zoomed in for Bias FX 2. I only see a portion of the UI for this VST.  Going to their website they have some troubleshooting tips.  None of them worked.  Seems like they put the burden of having the screen look right for users on the users, rather than in the UI design.  It's a pity.  I rolled back to the previous version and everything looks as expected and sounds great.  Seems like I may be stuck on that version at least for a while.

    Sigh!

Yeah, I definitely can relate, Lionel. I'm trying to limit my spending -- and doing pretty well at it (not perfect, but pretty good!). IK's B3 plugin that was recently on sale sounds really good and I somehow let it go and will let this one go too. I suppose -- depressing as this sounds -- I sometimes rationalize that as much as I love this stuff, I really have no physical ability to play any of this stuff very well (due to tendinitis and 20+ years of not playing combined), so that -- sometimes -- helps me to reign in my some of my gear acquisition syndrome. Although I am in love with the sound of a B3 and other organs and took organ lessons as a kid (my mother and eldest sister were both music teachers and we had lots of musical instruments in the house, including an organ -- unfortunately not a B3 though -- but we had a Leslie speaker and a Wurli. Hence, I have a great fondness for those sounds.

@PavlovsCat  - one of the easy answers to being able to get nice playing even if held up by tendinitis or amateuritis is EZKeys!

  5. Top notch sounds and capabilities in Avenger!  Including drums that can be included or not and modified for a selected preset.  Avenger blows me away with great sounds and presets each time I use it.

Each preset pack has a good selection of groupings, such as synths, or pads - and each preset pack also has sequences which really amaze and often include drums etc.   While those sequences are really well done, for me, they are also over-automated.  Meaning I have to turn off stuff like the arps or drums on a sequence preset to really use it in on my own song composition. Or at least I have to figure out how to modify and/or control those automated aspects to fit my song,

Even though I am an admirer of Avenger and their (expensive) high-quality preset packs, I actually use Spire much more often. I find with Spire I am easily able to find the same high-level quality preset sounds like you hear in Avenger but without all the automation.  That’s preferable in my case because I’m trying to create songs rather than use someone else’s preset that practically is already a song (as you hear in Avenger or also similarly in Dune 3).

With that said, this 50% sale on the Avenger 5-pack is a rare event and a very good deal if wanting to expand on Avenger. Hard to pass up!
