  1. “This free Win10 utility essentially takes from you your Win7 serial and in exchange gives you back, legitimately, a Win10 serial/installation, so you exchange one for the other; you won't be left with both” You sure about that? I’ll have to test that. I cloned my W7 drive, pulled the original and set it aside. I then ran the utility on the cloned drive for an “in place” W10 upgrade. Swapping drives is no big deal... course I’m on the road, so it’ll be a while till I can report back. t
  2. Oh yeah, wind in my hair, sun on my face, and I can taste that sweet salty ocean air...
  3. We’ve drifted off topic, but what the hay; we are in the coffee house! t
  4. So the artwork, this is the character Isabel Merton? Not sure I hear “slowly coming to terms with killing her estranged brother”, but not having the full context... I must say the tune stands on its own just fine, held me for the full six minutes; well done. Looking forward to more of the story. t
  5. Martin, you’ve got another good one going. A few rough edges to sort, and some good comments and avenues to pursue. I like the drums, I wouldn’t change the intro, although the cymbal hits late in the tune don’t seem to sit in the same space; that I would work on. As always wish we had the lyrics so we could follow along; in French is fine. Keep us up to date! t
  6. I agree, but, the tune carries itself, that bass line rocks! The guitars, simply great. Would I mix it differently, probably. But, this thing is a hit! The subtle secondary vocals, oh man. I don’t know why, but this thing screams Keb’ Mo’ and I don’t mean in a bad way. I mean real blues, real authentic blues. I don’t have nearly enough thumbs to rate this one. I am now officially a fan. t
  7. Never a dull moment, it’s all part of the performance. Jesse, we love ya our avant-garde brother. Keep us on toes! t
  8. Excellent use of verb and delay. Really liked when the vocal came back in dry. That little click on the left, woodblock? I think I’d leave that out. I’ll have to agree the “brass” is a little weak, but as Tom said, not a deal breaker. Overall, thumbs up! t
  9. Forum etiquette, you want others to listen and comment, you listen and comment. Thank you Starise. t
  10. Misery does love company! I couldn’t help myself, mybad. t
  11. Been there, done that; can you put a little gravy on that stuffin’ please. t since we have another Tom, and my father was prone to calling me “little t”, I think I will begin signing “t”.
  12. Oh yeah, loved me some “Low Spark” back in the day. I hear some Traffic and some Straits. Well done Paul, big “thumbs” here! tom

Definitely a little Shankar/Harrison vibe. Probably because that’s the influence we know. Must agree the “voice” is especially well integrated. All the samples are especially good. Tom
  14. Hang in there Wooks! Lots of positive energy coming your way. Tom
  15. SampleTank 3 for me, consequently I stopped installing IKM Vst3’s. Tom
  16. And maybe this is the reason I haven't installed the upgrade yet! And that I don't care where the VST2 dll is placed. S-Gear VST3 failure Tom There have been more than a few VST3's that haven't played "nice" with CbB.
  17. @steve@baselines.com Thanks for doing the research and updating us all. Tom
  18. Hey John, The message/story line here is great; the lack of rhymes in most of the verses; its really about the message. Love the drum track, excellent bass line; however (boy I hope I don't have this wrong) it would really "shine" if it was played and not a midi track. I "play" in bass lines on the keyboard a lot, but sometimes I gotta pull the bass down off the wall and play the bass line. Overall, "thumbs up" man, I like it! Tom
  19. I'm assuming, we all know what that does, that yours is a serious question (this is the Coffee House though). From the Mayo website: More-common forms of radiation, such as electromagnetic fields from power lines and radio frequency radiation from microwave ovens have not been shown to increase the risk of glioma. The drivers in headphones would qualify as creating an "electromagnetic field". So, are they a risk? Given my complexion, I'm more worried about UV rays; one of the "benefits" of being Dutch/Irish, transparent skin... Tom
  20. I think Tom's comments are spot on. Fine composition. If this is a "snapshot" of your work in the 90's; so be it. I had an EMU Proteus MPS Plus in those days. I thought it sounded great! As to balance in the mix; as Tom said, bongos up a bit, and I'd bring that vocal up just a tad as well. The other Tom
  21. I'm teased! Now get focused. Good Luck! T
  22. Right of the bat, the percussion, the B3; brilliant! Now the bad news, I can't squeeze hard enough to help ya; nor do I have a first rate vocalist for you. Sorry, cool tune though; some one will come along. Small niggle, the guitar solo is a bit "thin" sounding; needs some, well you know, that part you squeeze... Tom
  23. Finally, I get me some Black Pickguard Tele, so kudos from me! My only niggle, wow that kick is totally dominating the mix. I love the definition, that click; but... So thumbs up here, just work that kick into the mix. Tom
  24. Owens Corning 703 is the super dense insulation often used in "sound proofing" (actually what you are trying to do is "absorb" low end and low-mids, reducing "standing waves") studio spaces. In this case it is exposed to the room, in front of, not behind, the drywall. You then cover it with fabric, John Sayers recommends covering it with plastic first so as to not absorb too much high end. The result, especially in a small room, is that it is "tight" (claustrophobic); before the plastic went up it was a bit "unsettling" on first visit to the project. T
  25. ? I love ambiguity in lyrics and titles; so good on ya there! Well done BTW. Tom has summed it up succinctly! for whatever reason FireFox and/or the forum software is not allowing me to hit the enter key and leave my signature. Or, a "sad" emoji (not about the tune, just the stupid software); oh well.... the other Tom
