A little U2 feel here? Unless what I think are "jangling" guitars down in the mix is a synth. I was going to agree with emeraldsoul on the drums, but hey; your song, your production. I do agree on the vocal processing, well done! Tom

The Incredible Genesis of King Jethro's Pink Gong
DeeringAmps replied to Bajan Blue's topic in Songs
You hooked me with the stylus drop and the "ticking" scratch in the vinyl. From the title I was expecting some Wild Man Fischer or Captain Beefheart, but alas, some real 21st century King Crimson maybe? Anyway, well done, well done indeed; definitely throw some thumbs up for sure. From Somebody to Love to Pink Gong; pretty broad palette here man, good on ya. I'm a fan, no doubt about it; even without your outstanding vocalist, you are gettin' 'er done! Tom -
That's you on the background vocals too? Nice. I can hear some Roy influence there. Maybe just a tad brite? Especially that guitar hard right around the :55 mark and again later, its during the I'll never be...The walking wounded. Tele maybe? Could be the Bose cans... Thumbs up! Tom

Always love me some slide and pedal steel (notice I didn't say pedal steel guitar? I can play a guitar; pedal steel, not so much) Another tender love song (that matches the hat!?). Story well told. Tom

Très bien sûr! (english translation "very nice for sure") Your song, your mix; but for me the guitar on the left is just a bit too loud. Don't know if its the level or the effects, but the guitar on the right "sits" better in the mix on my "cans". All in all, well done! Tom

Bjorn, Martin and Gary have said it all. Really beautiful! If the "dry" version is not de-essed; Leave It Alone! If it is; Leave It Alone! Take a listen to some Carrie Underwood, there's plenty of "harsh esses" there. Again, simply gorgeous. Tom BTW, I get decent results with FAbFilter ProDS.

Hey, I warmed up the crowd for Hanoi Jane and Tom Hayden (he pissed me of though! What was his bs deferment?). Played a fund raiser, voter registration event for McGovern. Sorry! Ok, my blood pressure is almost back to "normal" (did I take my meds this morning?). Great job, and as Bjorn and Kenny said, Allan Sherman brought back some fond memories... Two thumbs up!! (at least) Tom

Nicely done! Have to agree garyburn, I can picture a beautiful Christmas morning with just a "skiff" of light snow. Maybe just a "hint" of snowed in, could that be, reindeer tracks? <begin rant> Had some "issues" with Spotify, its a free hosting service, and I understand why they want you to "create an account"; but is it really a "bargain" for the artist if visitors have to jump thru a bunch of hoops? <end rant> Sorry to "rant" in your thread, but two potential listeners (read that as potential fans) had issues; and in my case I have an account! Tom ps: SoundClick seems to welcome non-member listeners, don't know what the "user" end is like; just sayin'...

I have to agree with Steve, your’s is much more “pleasing” to the ear. I’m not sure I would pan the fundamentals hard right, but that’s just me. I really struggle with brass, (I’m a guitar player, what can I say) so it’s always interesting to hear someone else’s approach. ? for sure! Tom

I’m always down for some “furry paws” and wouldn’t think of bailing early! Fell in love with that intro beat and you kept me riveted the whole 6:48. Well done for sure. Tom

I’m hearing a little Stones on this one, but I’ve said in the past I think Doug is Doug. Sounds like you’re enjoying that tele! I do think you need to check your timing on the outro though, that one guitar is just a bit late (early?) sounds “off” to me. Tom

I feel like I’m looking at a painting and it’s evoking all these auditory expressions. Or, maybe something trapped in a 50 year old fat cell has found a way out, they say it happens; flashbacks? Anyway, I wouldn’t change a thing, it really does “paint a picture” for me. Lovely ambiance on this one, I really did feel like I was “floating” in it. ?? Tom

I feel like I’m “Cruising’ with Ruben and the Jets”! Man Freddy, I wish I had your knack for storytelling, I really do. You know, I kinda think it’s done, you can polish it up, but I think there’s a chance you’ll lose a little of that raw (I hate using the word, but I think it applies) authenticity that defines Freddy J. Tom

I get the raunchy rock reference, or maybe garage rock. Does, as Freddy says, have a bit of a Link Wray influence. I see it in a scene where the “minimalist” feeing doesn’t distract from what’s on the screen. You say you feel like you’re growing, stay at it! Bring us some more. Tom

Yikes, you’re asking for trouble!

The “word” on SSD’s originally was that you shouldn’t constantly write and overwrite. So for OS use or samples, you write to the drive, then you read from it. I’m sure it was recommended not to de-frag an SSD, because again you are writing/rewriting. Modern SSD’s maybe not an issue? When Jim at StudioCat recommends SSD for the audio drive, I’ll be “all in”; until then... I haven’t googled it lately, maybe times have changed. Tom
-
Old school here: OS: SSD Samples: m.2 my system supports 1 and VSTi load so fast from the m.2 it would be a “waste” for anything else. Superior Drummer loads “yesterday”! Projects: still using WD Black drives. Until the last word comes in that write/rewrite is not an issue on SSD that’s where I’m staying.

I think this and “So Much More” could be the basis of an operetta. I’m very much enjoying your work! Tom

I think I caught the underlying message, or maybe I’m just “reading” something into it? As to a review; well done ?! Now that’s live guitar work, not some kind of loop? If so, nice “chops”, nice chops indeed. Tom
-
I think some work on the segue to make the transition less abrupt. No concrete suggestions unfortunately, but I do think that’s how I would approach it. Not my genre, but you held my interest to the end. Tom

Surely the music and video work well together, and I totally “get” the underlying subject matter. Just not sure how the video and subject matter are linked, but a big A+ all around. Tom

Always a pleasure to hear MrsDaryl. I’m giving the Pickled Fizzies a big bunch of thumbs up! ? ? ? Tom

Firstly, I do believe you’ve got things properly organized now; and btw, you’ve been busy, I am impressed and maybe even a bit envious. Fine guitar work indeed, hopefully he will “take bow”. I actually enjoyed the horse racing, but l’m involved in the equine business.., Yes the echo needs to go, that’s an easy fix. If you stay with the race just let the announcer finish it. Of course, if the video goes a different way, its all moot. I take it you mostly are adding video to your projects, not scoring to video? All in all well done. Fix the end and move on, pretty obvious you have plenty of material. Tom
