    If you haven't rebooted your computer since the problem first occurred reboot your system now, then do a full VST Rescan. Sometimes the VST Scanner gets stuck and if that is part of the problem until you kill the process or reboot things won't change. To perform a full VST Rescan: 1. Go to Edit > Preferences > File - VST Settings. 2. Under Scan Options, select Re-scan Existing Plug-ins and Re-scan Failed Plug-ins, then click Reset. 3. The following confirmation message appears: “This will reset configuration settings for all your VST plug-ins to defaults. VST Plug-ins will be unavailable until a VST Scan is performed. Any custom configuration settings will be lost. Are you sure you want to do this?” 4. Click Yes. 5. Click Scan. The background VST scanner scans your list of plug-ins. When scanning is complete, you can reapply any custom settings to your plug-ins. Note: After performing a full VST rescan, clear the Rescan Failed Plug-ins and Rescan Existing Plug-ins check boxes, especially if Automatic Background Scan is selected. Leaving all of these options configured simultaneously can lead to a continuous scan loop.

    Another thread got me thinking about arpeggiators. I realized that the ones I have are bound to a particular synth or sampler library and most can't export the MIDI pattern of what they're playing which can make it a hassle if you want to enhance the part (let's say double a part with another instrument) or change the instrument. Yeah you might be able to use Melodyne and convert the audio to MIDI but that's a lot more work/hassle than just using something that can generate the MIDI patterns (arpeggios, chords, strums, finger picking or whatever) in the first place. These are what I found. List is in alphabetical order. Unless noted the following are only arpeggiators. Arp4midi by xoxos (Windows) - free! ArpLite2 by SynArp (Windows) - free! BlueARP by Oleg Mikheev (Mac, Windows) - free! Cakewalk FX Arpeggiator - MIDI FX plugin comes with Cakewalk/Sonar. Cthulhu by Xferrecords (Mac, Windows) $39 >> Arpeggiator, Chord analyzer & generator hypercyclic by mucoder (Linux, Mac, Windows) - free! Kirnu by Arto Vaarala (Mac, Windows) - free! Kirnu Cream by Kirnuarp (Mac, Windows, iPad) - €35 >>standalone/plugin versions, chords as well as arpeggio patterns, ... midiChords by VST4Free (Mac, Windows) - free! >> Chords & basic strumming, imports Cubase/Nuendo Chorder .xml presets, ... Obelisk by FrozenPlain (Mac, Windows) - $25 >> Chords generator only RandARP by CodeFN42 (Windows) - free! Riffer by audiomodern (Mac, Windows) - €49 >> random melody/pattern generator. Not really an arpeggiator but can (kinda) be used as one. I haven't used any of these so have no personal comments other than Cthulhu and BlueARP seem to have the most positive buzz online. Feel feel to comment about what you use and your experiences good or bad.

    I'm probably not the best source of info but... Songwise I'm not really into strumming. I mainly use these kind of libraries for playing melody lines or playing arpeggios. The couple of times I needed a more complex 'finger picking' I already had specific patterns in mind and wrote the MIDI out manually. A bit of APITA but handy for long repetitive patterns or doubling (2 different guitars panned hard L & R). I've been thinking of trying Cthulu or something similar to see if that could generate usable patterns but haven't gotten around to it. If I do chords they tend to be simple ones, R-R-5 or triads, played as accents for example on the 2 & 4th beat. If I'm looking for something more complex I'll usually just break out a guitar and play it.

Just a little experiment. Don't know how long it will last. A guitar with personality and character. Most people sample the nicest guitar they can get their hands on, but we went for the most interesting. This is over 10000 samples of a Defil Tarantella electric guitar made in Poland in 1972, which is a lot like those cheesy old Japanese and Italian electrics of the 1960s, but even weirder. We sampled it as a 6-string, as a 12-string, in Nashville tuning, and both electrically and acoustically. This is basically the ultimate quirky indie guitar, and a terrible guitar for death metal unless you're making death metal ironically.     Lol. I'm not sure how one post could ruin an otherwise useful feature. I'm more concern that lack of usage, the reason I created this post, would be a much bigger factor. But your concern is noted, it actually was always my intent to remove the tags in this post after a couple of days so that it wouldn't be an issue. Hopefully more people will become aware of how useful tags are and start using them in their OPs.
