  1. Thanks Tim, I got it. It was already set according to the directions.
  2. Thanks HIBI but when I launch Cakewalk, I don't see anything that says "Options". Can someone please explain how I get to that?
  3. Yeah John, In Registry Edit> ASIO>Audiobox ASIO Driver is listed. But again, that's good to know.
  4. Wow, thanks for the extra effort John. Alright, I just ran that latency mon and it says, "Concl: Your system appears to be suitable for handling... without dropouts". So that's great to know. Btw John, Have u given any thought as to why Modo Drum worked perfect for me on WASAPI but is having problems with ASIO? Keep in mind, I'm still pretty green with Cakewalk(despite watching all ur videos 😋). So for all I know, it's a setting on Cakewalk or the computer that I'm overlooking/ unaware of. Like a format setting or something...(?)
  5. Cheers John! Yeah, aside from MODO Drum, ASIO works great for my VSTs and audio. I'm really starting think Promidi is right that my computer just isn't quite up to snuff.
  6. Thanks. I know ur right that I could use an upgrade and Im glad to know about the graphics card thing. (Still weird that it worked fine on WASAPI though). Yeah, the buffer size is usually on 46.4 msec, 2048 Samples. For tracking though, I speed it up to 11.6 msec 512 samples so there's not much latency.
  7. Thanks Andres. Just to make sure we're on the same page, it popped worse the further to the right/safe I set it. But it basically acted up regardless of where I set the buffer size. Man, I don't understand why Modo Drum worked perfectly when I had the driver set to WASAPI. I only switched it to ASIO because WASAPI wouldn't let me record audio. Just midi.
  8. Interface is an Audiobox 96. "Graphics adapter" is a bit over my head but it says under Device Manager> Display Adapters> Intel(R) HD Graphics. It says it's the "best driver" and is up to date. (Is that open GL2 compatible?) Fwiw, I think u may have something with the graphics issue cause MODO Drum is much higher detailed visually compared to the SS5 drums. Btw it was odd, with the MODO drums, the clicking and popping got worse the slower I set the buffer size. Like it had the opposite effect. Don't know if that helps shed some light.
  9. Hi Promidi. Sample rate is set to 44100 Bit depth is locked(grayed out) on 24 Buffer size is full safe(46 Msec) Computer is Intel Core i5-2400 CPU 3.1 Ghz RAM 16 GB Running Windows 10 Pro It only has one drive(Solid State)
  10. Hi guys. I was using the free Modo Drum vst(which I love) but it started giving me bad clicks and pops. The prob started when I switched from WASAPI to ASIO. Note, the performance tab showed plenty of memory available. I'm now having to use the Slate SS5 free drums which gives no problems at all. Could the prob be that Modo Drum file size is much larger or could it be I need to download it again with the right driver? I'd love to use Modo Drum again so any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
  11. Oh, my bad. You prob said Windows update in the video and I misunderstood. And great to know the midi info is there to stay. Thanks for the help and all ur videos John. (When I win my Grammy award, I'll give u a shout out 😉)
  12. Got it John! In preferences > midi> devices>inputs, i had my interface unchecked(don't know how I did that). Thanks a lot man! Btw, I really liked the redone videos but u scared me when u said the TTS-1 may become incompatible with a future update. If that ever happens, I assume I wouldn't lose the midi track info correct? IOWs, can I just assign those same midi tracks to a diff soft synth/vst instrument?
  13. Thanks a lot John. I've watched many of ur videos before but I've probably forgotten a great deal. I'll def go watch em again. Cheers!
  14. Hi guys. Ive been laying audio tracks for the last couple months but I just went back to punch record on a soft synth piano track and I have no signal showing. I also tried it in a new project then with diff driver settings to no avail. I'm still fairly green to routing stuff. Can yall please give some troubleshooting tips on how to fix this. Thanks!
  15. Awesome, I got it now guys. I thought they meant to hold left click on the marker and a "delete" option would appear. I didn't know they meant to use the delete key. Y'all saved me. Thanks so much for the help!
  16. I followed Cakewalks directions on how to delete markers but it doesn't work. How exactly do I delete markers? (Thanks in advance!)
  17. Thanks Scook. Id love to go back to wasapi but it stopped recording audio. It's just letting me record midi. So yeah, asio seems to be my only option.
  18. Thanks for all the responses guys. Btw, I do have a high pass on bass, drums and most instruments so I dont think it's a low freq thing. Also, my soft synths are the same level as my audio tracks so I don't think it's an input recording level issue.
  19. No bud, it's working backwards. Moving the slider to the right to a slower "safe" buffer speed like 46.4 msecs causes more clicks & pops during mixing. So I always leave it to the left on 11.6 msecs. Fwiw, when it was set to wasapi it worked correctly. Also on wasapi, when I set it to a slow buffer speed there was a delayed response when I pressed play, stop, etc. IOWs, it worked as it should so as to look ahead but set on asio, there's no change in control response time regardless of where I set the buffer speed. It's like it's unable to look ahead.
  20. Thanks John. Btw, your Cactus Studios vids have helped me a lot. You're a good teacher.
  21. Hi John, I watched ur videos and everything seems set up right in windows & cakewalk. My ins & outs(and playback/record timing master) say "Audiobox ASIO Driver In/Out" and Driver Mode says ASIO. Something just seems outta wack. Like how I get more clicks & pops when set to a slower buffer size. Again, it worked & sounded better on wasapi. I think I'm gonna borrow my brothers interface and download the driver for it to see if possibly my interface or driver is the issue. At least it'll rule that out.
  22. Thanks Jonesey. Im using an Audiobox 96 and the driver is set to ASIO. But you may have hit on something cause I was actually getting louder and better performance when I had it set to WASAPI. Now with it set to ASIO, it cracks and pops more and is not as loud. I only set it to ASIO because WASAPI stopped recording audio. It was only letting me record midi. From what Ive read, I think I may have created a format issue for WASAPI. Anyway, I know ASIO is supposed to be the better, go-to driver but I'm getting the opposite result. Any light you guys could shed on this would be awesome. Cheers! Btw, for some reason with ASIO, I also have to keep the buffer size set to fast(11.6 milliseconds) even when Im not tracking. When I set it to a slow buffer size it starts cracking & popping. IOWs, it's working backwards. Maybe I have something set wrong? I just dont know.
  23. Thanks my friend but I'm pretty cautious esp with headphones. I was just wanting a bit more volume from my monitors so I can sometimes FEEL the music when I'm listening back. I like to mix as I go and hearing a loud, fat mix when I'm done with a session keeps me inspired. I keep the ca-2a leveler on the master which helps it sound polished & fat but I'd love a bit more volume(without cranking everything & clipping).
  24. I appreciate all the advice guys. Btw, did I mention Im 70% deaf? Just kidding. Anyway, I'm still pretty new to daw recording so there's surely things I'm overlooking or just unaware of. I'm about to record now, so I'll try to apply all this good advice and let yall know how it works out.
