  1. Never affected with W7, but I'll try it. kontakt 6 player with NI session drums samples. Same thing happens with AD 2. -EDIT- Hey @Max Arwood Shutting off AV protection had no effect--but worth a try. Thanks
  2. That's another issue. I don't get a toast message to tell me the dropout code. Toast messages for loading the project, etc. but the dropout is a mystery.
  3. I posted solved too soon. I still get dropouts when the drum sampler starts the first couple times I hit play, then it's fine for the rest of the session. Ideas?
  4. BTW @scook -- Any idea if this might also be why z3ta won't load? Do you know where the default location of those reg keys are?
  5. That totally worked!! Thanks! Somewhere in the troubleshooting process V-Vocal was fixed too. I did so many things I don't know which one worked, but thanks again!!
  6. I checked the permissions in the folder security settings. I'll check it in the registry. Thanks!
  7. Thanks @scook I gave the Shared DXi folder and all the subfolders and files Users full control. When I try to register the dlls, I get these errors (first two) When I try to unregister, I get the 3rd error.
  8. Just to unclutter my UI. Melodyne has been sketchy ever since a couple of CW updates ago, but if I re-analyze the audio I can get it to work well. Haven't needed V-Vocal since I use Melodyne.
  9. I get a cryptic error message that it's corrupted or not installed correctly. I'll post a screenshot when I'm back in studio. Thanks for the unregister tip. That's how I've been trying to register the dll's. I didn't realize that's how you get rid of them appearing in CW.
  10. Hello All I tried for the last time to get V-Vocal and Pentagon I to work in CW. I'd like to keep them in the tool belt if I could, but I don't need them enough to spend any more time trying to get them to work. So, how do I remove V-Vocal from appearing in my region FX list and how do I remove Pentagon I from my soft synth/sampler list? I think I get rid of Pentagon I from my vst plug in manager, but not sure. Any help is appreciated!
  11. It fixed this playback issue on this project, but I still get dropouts on a previous project that I completed just prior to the OS upgrade. There is no toast message with a code for what's causing the dropouts. Hopefully, I won't have to remix the previous project and it stays fixed for future projects. Anyway, thanks again.
  12. Not sure if anyone else would like this feature, but many times I want an exact copy of a bus, including all fx and plugins.
  13. Hey Max I'm not sure I understand what your suggesting. The early access program? Would like to know.
  14. I have not. I'll try it. I'm surprised at how many settings changed or need to be changed after the upgrade. Many thanks!
  15. Hello Group This post is part of a series of issues I have since upgrading my os to W10. I have the beginning of a new project with just about a dozen audio tracks. No fx. Really basic. I also have one instance of Addictive Drums and that midi groove starts on measure 9. Once I hit play, I get dropouts as soon as the drum part starts, but only for the first 2 or 3 times I hit play. After that, it all plays fine. I deleted the AD tracks and inserted a kontakt drum, and the exact same thing happens. It acts like my memory buffer isn't utilized until the 4th or 5th play - if that makes any sense. Recording is fine. Any ideas?
  16. If your reference tracks are old, you will not hear them mixed as loud. There have too many articles on what's been termed, the 'loudness wars' to post them here, but a simple search will show you that over the decades, music has been produced louder and louder at the expense of musical dynamics. The problem now is the consumer and the artist. They want loud, because if your track is played against another artist's and there's is louder, consumers will think the louder one is better. Also, hopefully you're using a mastering plug in or app to balance out all your tracks on the album so your listeners don't have to keep reaching for the volume button. I fight the loudness stuff. I do push more now than I used to, but I leave headroom. Lastly, if your tracks are too loud, they will sound like cr*** after you upload them and YouTube processes them. Good luck 👍
  17. Great input. I did see with the company's hardware focus, they are definitely PT oriented. The cost between their native and HD plug-ins is worth noting, so thanks for letting me know for CW the less expensive native is the way to go.
  18. Hello Group I just learned about McDSP. Before I demo their plug-ins I wondered if anyone here has used them and what do you think? Still reading up on the difference between native and HD versions. Thanks!
  19. UPDATE I uninstalled kontakt altogether and reinstalled and it fixed my issue. Yay!! Now just have to find what's causing my dropouts and I'm back in business.
  20. Hey all-- I'd like to jump in here too, if it's OK. I use kontakt regularly with Cakewalk and have a bit of an investment in their libraries. Ever since I upgraded my OS to W10, kontakt crashes when I try to play a library's midi file. It crashed in standalone and as a plug in. Here's the error when it crashes as a plug-in. I wish my W10 upgrade worked as seamlessly as others have posted about, but this is one of a couple show-stopper errors that started with the W10 upgrade. The biggest is the dropout with no explanation (no toast alert). :-(
  21. My understanding of the purpose, and how I plan to use it is to give me insights into how a track would sound with different arrangements. Once I settle on one, I would use ripple edit to set it in an acceptable way. Did I get that right?
  22. I'm mad at AMD processors right now. We bought my wife a Lenovo laptop with a Ryzen 7 processor and we have had nothing but issues. Opened multiple support cases and none solved the issue. Now it's 2 years old and the support period is over and she still has issues. This rant is to try to make me feel better. This is the first AMD CPU I've purchased and it's a lemon!!
