  1. Totally cool. And this also works on Clip Gain. I just tried it. I've always had to switch to the move tool to pull down the gain in a entire clip. Always something to learn here. Thanks.
  2. My 6i6 is different but I think we share the same Mix Control software. In my screenshot you see the toggles where you choose line level. Not exactly sure but I think you would use TRS balanced cables but possibly no difference using XLR connections. I'm only thinking that there might be some sort of automatic bypass of the pre amps if you use TRS or TS 1/4" jacks. XLR might always use the Pre amps. That's a question for Focusrite which probably is in the manual or tutorials. You would then set the input to Line and then you may still need the Pad engaged if the signal is still too hot.
  3. Go to the Focusrite support page they have excellent tutorials on most of their hardware.
  4. Not familiar with how the Notation view works and somehow think this might be what happened to you. I work in the Piano Roll View ( PVR) and the velocities for each note show in the controller pane below . They are easy to edit in a variety of ways I mostly use the smart tool on the top/ middle of the note blob and drag it up or down. A little dialogue box shows you your amount as you work. So it's not clear if you are using PVR or just the staff view to edit? You must have done something that highlighted all the notes and change the velocity to max. Question- did you save the CWP file before closing? Cakewalk always asks you to save. If so when you open the CWP are your velocities still as you set them?
  5. The reason you probably couldn't drag and drop from Cakewalk directly might have been the simple instrument track? But I just tried drag and drop from both a midi track and a Simple instrument track and it created midi clips on my desktop. The clips play fine in media player or VLC. It also dragged back into Cakewalk and created a new midi tack just fine. If you select only the midi track and use from the file menu- Export Standard Midi File , you won't get that dialogue.
  6. To add, if you press the T key the tools menu pops up at the mouse pointers location making it easy to change tools quickly. There's a few places where the smart tool isn't so smart and I might need the Move tool.
  7. Thanks @msmcleod for mentioning disable One Drive. I never thought about that, I also have Dropbox running> But what if you just disable the Internet? Would that stop them from using DPC ? I have a very similar machine to both of you and sometimes it starts to run slow. First thing I do is disable the LAN adaptor. Seems to perk it back up. To the Op- Have you tried running Latency Monitor? They also have a great little tool called WhySo SLow that I ran and it recommended I add more RAM. I only have 12 GB so that made sense. It's free and seems highly recommended. Latency monitor shows I'm on the edge with Internet on but super low with it off. https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon
  8. I think they are telling you to use the direct monitoring feature which of course has zero latency but ya, you won't hear any vst effects from the DAW.
