  1. This is how Cubase works for the transport. I could never get used to it always being in my way.
  2. What you are doing is similar to using hardware synths. The only difference is the midi data doesn’t leave your computer. You insert the tracks you need and then assign a channel to each track or tracks for each instrument needed. Then choose FL studio as the outputs for the tracks. This part I can’t verify as I would think you need a 3rd party midi routing app that Cakewalk can see. Look in preferences midi devices output for that.
  3. To add about using 3rd party loudness meters The paid version of You Lean loudness meter allows drag and drop analyzing of audio including dragging a track. This not only gives you total peak and LUFS but if you make settings for your target levels the graph will put markers where you go over those limits. So you don’t have to search for peaks in real time. I find Cakewalks meters are just fine for most recording and mixing applications. But I like more details when editing.
  4. Dang, learn something new every day. Now I'll have to re do the Video 🙃
  5. That's an interesting way to put it." Stable Version". The first release of Next we would assume and hope will stable as they are building it from the ground up. Once people get to test it we will no doubt find a few "bugs" Bugs and Stable are 2 different things with software. Example the currant version of Cakewalk is very stable. The only way to crash it is to use an incompatible Plug in or use a pour quality audio interface and drivers. But there's always a few bugs lurking. Bugs don't necessarily make software unstable, they just cripple features. When it was Sonar Platinum it had hundreds of bugs and it was more unstable. Now it not only stable but has only a few very minor bugs that hopefully will be killed in the upcoming final release. Any left over bugs will have to be fixed in Sonar.
  6. An easy way to gain space up there is use the Short cut C. To hid the control bar. You will be surprised at what gets done without it. And when you need it just press C again. Working on laptops I find keyboard shortcuts are more important. Especially D for multi dock I made a video about using 1 screen
  7. I don’t look at the meter I look at the numerical read out as that always holds on to the highest peak reading until you re start playback. But if it serious level management I want I will use a 3rd party meter like You Lean or Melda MMeter. That also gives me RMS and LUFS which is better info about the track.
  8. @azslow3 The reading is using 48hz and in Cakewalk preferences. I thought about running the RTL utility by Oblique but its not that important to me. I just thought it was of some interest to share that Behringer drivers seem to be on par with other household brands these days. I’ll agree that the advertisement for ultra low latency is misleading but I tend not to pay attention to advertising as I grew up in the 50’s when they told you smoking Camel cigarettes was recommended by more doctors than any other brand. Because I don’t use real time effects, latency doesn’t bother me. Example I’ll be using the X18!to record 14 tracks at an upcoming live show we are doing in a week. It belongs to my son and we’ve been using it as a live mixer since last fall. I hadn’t tried the USB interface feature and was super impressed with how easy it was to set up and use with Cakewalk. The USB output is independent of the live mix. This is the critical difference from other set ups I’ve used. The laptop will be running both Cakewalk and the Mixer software. My son can also control the mixer from his tablet so will fine tune the mix from out front. The other guy has his in ear monitor mix control on his cell phone. Im using a second laptop to playback split stereo backing tracks. I could have dumped them into Cakewalk. This is more bulletproof. We will also have a 6 camera video shoot happening run by a guy with 40 years of experience. I’m finally going to have live videos for most of my original songs! Sorry about the side track. But I will be using the Real Tek audio on my playback laptop like I have for the past 20 years with out issues. And it’s not the ASIO driver involved.
  9. @User 905133 thanks for re-posting the question in a polite format. @Lord TimThat’s what I figured. Not sure what the rules are for people beta testing. Are they expected to keep silent or are the testers allowed to make open comments in the early access forum? I signed up for Next but haven’t gotten any mail yet. Are people testing already?
  10. Instead of the windows minimize have you tried using the short cut D? When I use one screen I use the D to hide show the multidock. Shift D makes it full screen and once full screen it stays that way as you use the D to hide /show. When I use 2 monitors I put the multidock floated to the second monitor. I have 2 workspaces, one that is using 1 screen the other with the multi dock on the second monitor. I see why you would be doing this backwards but I can also see it would require swapping Views in the Display settings first. I've never done that so not sure if this works. But anyway I see no reason the D key would not remove the multidock from the second monitor.
  11. Behringer @ 256 ms buffer = 14ms. @ 64ms = 5.1 Motu @ 256 ms buffer= 16.2 @ 64ms = 6.1 My Focusrite is @ 256ms= 17.2 ms @ 64 ms =7.3 So the Behringer is pretty good for a more or less medium quality interface.
  12. You open it in the editor, sounds like your trying to do it on the track? The editor opens in the multi dock so possibly you have it on a separate monitor?
  13. Yes I guess it will be up to the driver . I was unaware of this fact until I did a bit of research when making my audio set up tutorial. I noticed that in WASAPI mode Windows audio settings shows various bit rates available, but in ASIO it is always 24 which is also greyed out in Cakewalk. I started looking at the specs for interfaces and it seemed true of all the brands that listed this. Thats when I noticed a few lower end interfaces were only 16 bit. Only mention of 32 bit was with $$$$ interfaces using none USB connections. Interesting the Zoom uses 32! I think that is what Ulf was getting at. 48/24 is about as good as it needs to be considering what music ends up being played back on these days it is really overkill.
  14. It’s odd that the default is to put them in the excluded list. We call them the hidden gems. Seems strange to include a free plug in then hide it from all but a tiny group of users who accidentally found them.
  15. Almost all modern Audio Interfaces are set at 24 bit. I see you have a Zoom. It is possible it is set at 16 bit. So as he said there’s no reason to record at 32 bit and possibly only very high end interfaces are capable of it. Cakewalk uses 32 bit for rendering as that eliminates any errors in the number crunching. Melodyne uses a totally different rendering system and it will be 24 bit.
  16. Behringer makes a decent ASIO driver for most of it's products. I have an X air 18 and I have never had an issue with it. Its an amazing piece of gear. The performance on RTL is a bit sub standard compared to my Focusrite and Motu but it most certainly is an ASIO driver. If you want proof simply open sync and caching. None ASIO driver do not show "Use ASIO Reported latency"
  17. That seems odd that a Midi track wouldn't record the events and a Simple Instrument track would? Something else must be going on. Possibly a midi loopback from another track? This can be fixed by making sure none of your Instruments have Midi output engaged. A workaround would be don't use Simple Instrument track but use Split Instrument tracks
  18. I see, no problem, I usually try to just post the link. On my cell phone the option seems to have disappeared since the update. I hate the way the video shows as this giant picture. If @Jesse Jost is listening it would be nice to be able to re size any picture or widgets like that. A tiny thumbnail would be great.
  19. Why is that confusing? Many people don't learn the basics of Cakewalks Workspaces. New users and even long time users often jump right into recording stuff without first learning the basic navigation of Cakewalk. This thread is a classic example of not understanding how Cakewalks workspace/ Shortcut keys/Skylight interface functions. The default for the PVR is the Multi Dock. This is part of all the preset workspaces. If you want to change this you set it up how you like and save as a new workspace. The multidock works best using a second monitor but it's real easy to use it on one screen once you learn the shortcut keystrokes.
  20. To see if the wheel is causing a problem insert a midi track and set it to record the controller. Don't touch it. Open the event list or PVR and see if it recorded CC events.
  21. This might be an issue that @Noel Borthwick will understand what that error message is pointing at. Like Tim I have installed dozens of versions of both Cakewalk and Sonar and that's never happened. Could be a C++ issue. The TTS-1 has been causing issues for many users for a few years now so is is best not to have projects depend on it. I would hate to see it totally stop working because I use it to pre view downloaded midi files. If I keep the file I immediately replace all the instruments with much better sounding VST's. But I might leave TTS-1 in the project just for weird things the composer used like the helicopter.
  22. Welcome to the Cakewalk Forum- You should start your own thread as this is an old thread and most people won't see your question.
  23. Every once in a while I go into plug in manager and I exclude all the plug ins I haven't been using. I don't bother un installing them because someday I might want them back. I might occasionally remove ones I know were real bad news so I won't be tempted. to use them again. But excluding them takes them off the lists and keeps things tidy. Don't forget that you might have installed 3 versions of the same plug in. The 32 bit, 64 bit and the VST3. Take note of the colour of the name on the list.
