  1. To be fair this was nothing you find in the manual directly. That said , the OP did have the answer in the very first reply but then claimed they had checked this and it was fine. Possibly this is just another one of those language issues that seem common here because we are very global. This is why screenshots are important. I’ve seen plenty of 3 page threads that if the OP had posted a screenshot in first post would have been resolved in first reply.
  2. Why use bounce? Just create a mix and export it. Drag it back to the project. To create the mix you just mute the unwanted tracks. It this is not feasible because project is ridiculously large then create a sub bus and send the tracks you want mixed to that and mute all other buses. My solution allows you to mix these tracks into a sub mix you can export and bring back.
  3. You could try changing your on board audio settings in Windows Sound Settings. All my on board audio can be set to use 48/24 which is better for compatibility with movies etc. Then if you use WASAPI exclusive mode you can change your buffer settings. This is possibly a good reason to purchase an audio interface which would not be as limited as using on board audio. Instructions for how to do this :
  4. Yes exactly an issue I ran into years ago with my Motu and Scarlett. To prevent that what I did to use the 3/4 outputs was I create a second master that goes to 3/4. . I then add a send pre fader on the master bus that goes to the second master bus. This way I can use 2 different sets of speakers solo or both using the send and the master fader. Now my Zoom L8 has 3 Auxiliaries so it is controlled with the interface not Cakewalk. I have lots of older projects that still have that second master. And of course that doesn’t interfere with the audio if the 3/4 are not connected to anything. The master is still available to 1/2
  5. The year is 2030, The Rolling Stones are on tour again and this thread is still here!
  6. You need to be patient. They said they will make it available. It is free software and they are basically done with it and moving on to Sonar. They need to focus on the 2 new products not worry about a half dozen off line users. I used to be off line and sure it was a hassle but I would just take my computer to town to my brothers house and update stuff then take it home for another year. Personally if I had no options about the internet I would never depend on software that does.
  7. The above was your first reply. So the answer/solution was given 3 days ago. I missed this answer as it was on page 1, This is also due to when you set the Master to "none" I just tested this. Setting to none turns off the audio engine. The reason most likely is this project was saved when no audio device was present. This defaults to "None" I didn't know this until I tested. Took a project and I set the output to None, save it and close. I open another project and it is correctly set to the hardware. Re open the project I saved with None, and it is still set to none so no Audio. If it's always been this way I've never noticed before because I guess I always have something connected. But problem solved and I learned 2 new facts.
  8. This is the problem with threads like this as I think we all ask this question at least 5 times and we’re told it was set to the hardware. It is most likely just a communication problem. I guess best to ask for screen shots at the start as they often resolve issues that texting in different languages might not reveal. And then toss in all the geeky terminology. And the OP might not be aware of the hidden hardware bus. It's a hidden secret. The master output was the very first thing came to mind.
  9. I mostly use a Shure Beta 58, or the much more expensive SM 7B ( same mike in a sexier package) but I have others by AKG, Audio Technica and Sennheiser. You get what you pay for applies to mike sound quality. A plain SM 58 is pretty flat sounding but the Beta 58 has a much wider frequency response. There's a huge difference when you try them side by side. LDC mikes seem to pick up every noise in the house as well as I make a lot of noise when I sing and it is not very flattering to capture that! What ever the mike, you will always need to try a lot of them before you find that perfect match. And yes a LDC might just be the best mike for you. But you will need a better room. I think noise removal plug ins have their place in this world for things like live recordings where you cannot control background noise. To me it's unacceptable to capture unwanted noise when recording in an environment where I have some sort of control over it. . I kick the cat out, close the door and tell my wife to stay out of the kitchen which is above my basement studio. My computer is buffered behind a 3" foamy. But it is still faintly there if you listen to the blank spots between singing. So I delete that. I guess that's my noise Gate/ removal plug in. Delete. Not much I can do about my old Fender Princeton tube amp, but I consider that hum part of my sound. I just don't leave quiet spots! The OP's mike sounds like it would get shelved by me and I would keep looking.
  10. The OP was trying Next because they are using a Mac. I don’t think there’s any plan for Sonar to be cross platform. Probably the big reason the developed Next in the first place.
  11. This is why I sold all my LDC mikes. I use dynamic mikes because they are dead quiet. As well as they suit my vocal style. People seem to choose LDC because they see them in the big studios. I think in most cases they are a bad choice for a home studio environment.
  12. So what is important is exactly what do you have in mind that would be different? Generally the way this is done is simply adding or subtracting parts. Example a crunchy guitar only plays during chorus. You don’t want to use volume change for important tracks like vocals or bass. The drums have always been used to add more or less energy during a song. I can’t see why you would bother chopping up a song like that other than applying different effects at different points. But this is why we use automation which gives you all the options during mixing to make changes. The automation can be as simple as using bypass to take an effect in and out during the song. So my usual method Use instrumentation to add different sounds at different points. bring them in and out. Only fill between vocal phrases. I call this ear candy. I need the vocals recorded so I can accomplish this properly. Drums. Use subtle velocity changes to snare and hi hat / ride and even ride bell. Change the kick pattern. Vocals. Add harmonies to chorus or middle 8. Decrease delay/ reverb for verse. Guitar Change guitar pick ups or add more drive for chorus and solos. Change effects. All this is easy to do track by track with out splitting it up. Actually it’s nice when there’s overlap so it’s not that obvious.
  13. Ok progress. So it is only one project that has no sound. More questions. In Console view: Do all the track meters show activity? Do all the buss meters show activity? Does the master bus meter show activity Does the Hardware strip show activity? A screenshot of your busses including the Hardware bus with this project playing might be a good thing.
  14. Actually the post just above this has links that take you back there. Then you can read all about what happened between November 2017 (Gibson) and February 2018 ( Bandlab)
  15. It really doesn’t matter it’s free. I’m sure once Sonar and Next are bought you will have a proper serial number. But good point as I’m in the habit of always blacking or cropping that out. I have to be careful when making screen shots or capture that personal items are cropped out. I just love the YouTube videos where the dudes desktop shows and you can spot all sorts of junk that gives you an insight on the person’s habits and love life.
  16. @JoeGBradford Just so you are aware as there still seems confusion over this. Cakewalk will not die because of a windows update. It will stop working when Bandlab stops re activation. Sonar we have been told will be available at different price points just like before. Example I had Home Studio which I got on sale for under $40. For sure no guarantee this will be the case, but why not? Nobody knows how much longer Cakewalk will stay functional. All the developers have said is they will give people enough time to transition once Sonar becomes available. Funny how so many people are chomping at the bit to get Sonar. The developers seem to be dragging their feet but the longer the better I say. It will be probably baked and this also means we still have a really good DAW for the time being.
  17. But now we ruled out that part didn’t we. Now we know you have your sample rate is set the same in Windows, Cakewalk and your audio interfaces control panels. Now we now you have sound to your speakers from your interfaces because you tested it in Sound Settings We know that you have disabled all other audio devices other than your interfaces. Now we know you are using the most updated ASIO drivers for your interfaces. And that is driver mode you are using. Now we know you have made sure your Audio interface is is the only device showing in all the dialogue boxes in preferences. We also now know that all your inputs and outputs are selected too. Open a basic project and play the metronome. Observe the bus pane and the metronome bus. If you don’t hear it then check the output is correctly set on your master bus. A wild one i just thought of, is I sure hope you were not using the MS GM synth? That has been disabled now. He said Sample Rate, not bit depth. Cakewalk doesn’t care about bit depth. It can play all of them. But sample rate is important and explained in the video. You don’t mention if you tried other projects? This is also why I said load a new basic project as that rules out a plug in causing the issue.
  18. @Byron Dickens. Gave you a troubleshooting tool and you come back saying you don’t need instructions? Then why are you here? You obviously do need instructions because your issues are most definitely your Audio Settings which the video explains in detail.
  19. As said Next is a completely new DAW aimed at electronic music production and probably doesn’t have a staff view. This forum is for Cakewalk. I would imagine there’s a help menu inside Next with links to information and a community group. Probably one on Facebook already.
  20. Just to be clear. Cakewalk doesn’t care we’re the plug in is in regards to old projects as long as it is scanned and on the list. Example is I use multiple computers and the various plug ins are always going to be in completely different folders on each. Those projects all open and work just fine. So feel free to move VSTs around as long as you place them in a folder that Cakewalk scans. My scan path has only 4 places. And yes use Excluded to get rid of plug ins you no longer use. It’s easier than deleting them Most dll files are tiny so it’s not a storage issue unless the unwanted instruments have large libraries attached to them.
  21. Two ideas worth a shot: First: there’s always that chance that the Bandlab sign in screen is hidden behind or on a second monitor that is not active. Check the task bar or even open Task Manager to see if it’s just hidden. Second : For me on one computer I had to wait about 8 minutes for it to finally appear. A few others mentioned this as well it’s like the server is ignoring the request. So I just distracted myself playing my guitar while waiting.
  22. I have a MXL mike and it’s in my drawer full of spare parts.
  23. I most certainly have read all of this thread. And to re cap. You claim Melodyne doesn’t erase deleted clips. It most certainly won’t until you render the regional effect back to normal. Your only objection to this is your belief that rendering will degrade your audio quality. This apparently is not the case as clearly explained by @David Baay Did you not learn anything from that ? I most certainly did. So you are alone with an issue you created for your self by trying to do something that was never part of the way things were designed. The simple solution is to get over your paranoia about rendering. For your own satisfaction run some experiments and try null testing as David has done. That would be time we’ll spent and you could get back to work. signing off , JV
  24. The thing I find odd is people ask these questions and all they needed to do is Google it and get an instant response. Here’s what I got by asking “Is Cakewalk Obsolete?”
