Questions about Midi and Alesis Turbo Mesh Drumset
RexRed replied to RexRed's topic in Instruments & Effects
If I could change the note numbers from the Turbo mesh drum module my problems would be solved. I can't find any documentaiton on how to do that. -
Questions about Midi and Alesis Turbo Mesh Drumset
RexRed replied to RexRed's topic in Instruments & Effects
When I insert a soft synth drum kit and play the Turbo Mesh drums the drums are all mapped to the wrong sounds. I wonder if i were to fix this problem if ther might also be velosity problems where certain drum sounds are too quiet i.e. cymbals, HH. I kinda expected with general midi for this to work better but I have not found a kit that works yet. -
Questions about Midi and Alesis Turbo Mesh Drumset

I am up to my neck in trying to figure out a solution. Your options give me hope but I am still swiming in complexity. I don't think the "turbo" mesh has a way to change the drum note numbers within itself. The control module seems rather limited. I use a lot of AD2 kits and I also use NI kits and a ton of others, Dimension Pro has a few nice ones too It is just 9 drum controllers but I have not figured out a way to reroute them yet. MIDI-OX is complex also. Maybe if i can find one kit that works right with the Turbo mesh I can use that to record then drag the midi around for other kits. -
Questions about Midi and Alesis Turbo Mesh Drumset

Thank you SCOOK for your fast response. I am really liking the drum map method from what I can tell, I still need to test it out. It takes a bit of getting oriented to it but it seems like once I get familiar with it I can route each drum controller's midi exactly where I want it. I don't see Alesis turbo drum module listed as a preset but ther are only 9 controllers. It should not be too much effort to enter them in manually and then save the preset. This information is very useful! Much appreciated for the help! -
I recorded myself in Cakewalk hitting each drum and the default layout is BD is C3 Snare is D3 HH is A#3 HH Pedal is G#3 Cymbal 1 is C#4 Tom 1 is C4 Tom 2 is A3 Cymbal 2 is D#4 Tom 3 is G3 These do not seem to correspond perfectly with my various kits. Does anyone know how I can use Cakewalk to reassign the midi note for each drum, footpedal, cymbal so they align with the sound in the software kit I want?

Since I am on a roll here... Maybe you can investigate another issue with Melodyne. Now that the ability to mute Melodyne has been remedied. When you record a new take over Melodyne the new recorded take mutes the old Melodyne take and the overlapped area of the new take grays out the Melodyne take. If you then delete the grayed out Melodyne take and add Melodyne to the new take clip, When you open Melodyne and look at the new take the old deleted take is still left in the buffer also. They are superimposed over one another. You have to close Cakewalk and reopen the project for the old take to go away. If that old take could be discarded from Melodyne’s buffers when it is deleted that would be great! I hope I explained this clear enough.

Many thanks for this very useful addition to the software. Now there is a perfectly uninterrupted flow to spontaneous creativity. Best to you!

As you can see/hear, during the guitar lead if I softened the sound it might not work as well. But still, the tone and EQ presence is not quite right on the guitar lead. Too late to fix it now... ?

My YouTube videos are "gay romance" so, if you are interested, then here is the link. ? ????

This song "Chivalry Is Not Dead" is already edited to the Spartacus movie series (the recent one). I have agreed with you all about the guitar being too aggressive and harsh but considering, it is edited to men battling it out to the death.... A softer solo may not have carried the content as well. The main guitar solo is playing while Spartacus lay dead on the ground... I probably could have picked a better distortion preset... But it is done for now. Perhaps if i had used my hollow body with the P90 pickups instead of the Strat. The preset I picked does have a really nice sustain but it is the tone that is off. I may revisit it in the not so distant future. 100,000 views in 5 days on YouTube... Not bad...

Okay peeps, thanks for the awesome suggestions! I decided to change the lead guitar solo. It is now a nylon guitar solo. The electric was too noisy and jarring. I also added a cello and organ (very subtle in spots). Thanks, your suggestions helped complete this song! Now it fits well (MUCH better) with the video content I chose to use with it. Best to you Cakewalk peeps! ?

Ahh, that makes sense. ? It is then useful that way, scrolling effects is contextually better than the track view in that area. I seem to have a habit of scrolling in that vertical column. But I can see why it is better the way it is. Excellent, thanks for the quick reply Scook!

I use the mouse wheel a lot to scroll track view. It seems dead spots have been created over the effects bins. If my mouse is over top of an effects bin the mouse wheel scroll won't work. Could those dead spots be activated so the scroll wheel will work while over top of them? Thanks ??

Mark, you have provided a lot of great insight in your replies, thanks for your effort here. I have been a bit muddled in my request here. It seem I have been asking for things to work the way one might think they would. But due to complex factors that is clearly not as easy as it seems. If I could clarify my greatest need here... That need is to be able to simply mute Melodyne during record. I can manually insert a record take into the take myself. When I mute a Melodyne clip and record a separate take in the same track it simply does not mute. That is what I need fixed. When I mute a Melodyne take and hit record it does not mute when I am recording in the same track. Punching in a clip automatically is secondary to the Melodyne muting problem. Please find a way to make Melodyne mute work. When a Melodyne clips is muted it simply should not be heard. I hope this clarifies this request. I am aware there is complexity involved here and that complexity supersedes my own knowledge of how this all works. I simply need mute to work as it seems it should. Thanks. ?

There is a Rickenbacker bass all through the song, I have not added drums because the song is so slow the drums seems to throw off the timing. Do you think the lead guitar is loud enough or too loud?

I made a new tune awesome Cakewalk peeps! I have time ( maybe a day or two) before this song is published so any critiques/suggestions would be very helpful! ????
