    Into the Night

Hey PhonoBrainer, I took your advice, an exceedingly wise idea indeed! I cut the bass quite a bit in the verse areas. What a difference! Your idea was EXCELLENT! The bass needed to come down quite a bit. Many thanks for that awesome bit of advice! I hope th sinus infection gets better quick, been there. Thanks for the great compliments you and Jack, many thanks Jack buddy! I didn't cut the bass per se much in the intro but I did cut it quite a bit in the verses. I need the intro loud so the main vocal when it comes in is not too loud. The intro is only boomy for a short while...

    Sunny Day

Big thanks for the lovely comment Wookiee. I'm glad it resonated with you! I am always glad when I open my music up for critique here on this forum. I receive such great ideas. Luckily I have some time to incorporate some of your suggestions in the final mix of this song before it gets published. Thank you Mark! Unfortunately, I did not play or mix the acoustic guitar here in this song, it was self contained in a royalty free music loop I bought. The loop is so beautiful I had to write a song for it. I did use an Isotope imager to give it more space though. ? Many thanks Cakewalk peeps for the really helpful and flattering comments! You are all very awesome! ? I will give you a heads up when I make any changes and let you hear them. Best to you! RexRed

    Born To Love You

Thanks a lot for the tips ant_in_wales. This is a song loop I bought, so I am stuck with the way the music is, it is all fused into one stereo track. I need to put out songs faster, so buying loops cuts days out of the process. I will still make my own songs from scratch here and there but this is another avenue for creativity. Your suggestions are really good, best to you!

    Fly Away

Wow, wow! Your comments are all so very fine and lovely to read! Hello Andy, when I was about 18 years old I lost my falsetto and with a lot of vocal exercises around that time I was able to fully get it back. This was the most challenging song I have ever sung pitch wise Jack. Mark, your comment is very touching, sorry for the confusing waveform display. The initial time I uploaded the song I had an orphaned event at the end of the song which manifested itself as a long section of dead air. The song waveform actually ends before the limiting section. (Good eye!) Reverbnation only allows one draw of the waveform in first upload (I have meant to ask about that to their technical support). So the song has no limiting, since I peak my songs at -14 db, no limiting actually occurs in my music. This leaves it friendly for further mastering someday. Hey Antler, I had to search all around for that drum loop, I knew in my head what I wanted but it took me a while to precisely locate the groove. The loop is called "green train" on splice.com. I did turn the drum loop up and down during the song, it seemed loud at sections and too low in others. I really appreciate these comments from people here on this forum with whom I shared a mutual and fond love for Cakewalk! Best to you and love always! RexRed

Here is my new song, "Fly Away". Thanks to the fans who bought my last song! Big hugs and lots of love! RexRed ?
  17. I really wish I had purchased the Nitro instead of the Turbo. Too late now... One thing I did was place the brain in between the snare and cymbal 1 and I put the high hat where everyone else (on Youtube) put the brain. (on the end ) The order goes, high hat > snare > brain Now the high hat is directly over the high hat foot pedal. This also allows me to use my right hand for the brain which is also more intuitive. I contacted Alesis with a question about changing the note numbers, they said in the email form they would reply within 48 hours, days later no reply at all. I can't figure out how to change the velocity on the Turbo and the manual is useless. It would not have hurt to document more in the manual. I love the feel of the drums but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired.

New tune Cakewalk peeps! I hope you enjoy this song! Thanks for any feedback! Best to you! RexRed
  19. There has got to be a way to change the note numbers for these drum controllers within the device itself. I figure if I can find a basic kit that works, I can lay down the midi then change/edit it afterwards. The drum pedal is not like the Nitro it is a switch, on or off no velocity sensitivity. So, every time I hit it, it is like full blast. The high-hat I can't even hear hardly at all, and the cymbals are quiet too. For 100 dollars more I could have gotten something with a velocity sensitive kick and more editing capabilities on the controllers. I will have to make this work for now, I already threw away the boxes.
  20. I am now trying to figure out how to save a drum map... Changing the number from the controller would be optimal then i could hear the various kit patches in realtime.
  21. I think I have figured out a workaround. I used the drum map manager. I can input the current note number values and then input new note number values. It routes them to new drum notes. It is working! It is rather complex because I need to open two identical synth kits so I can figure out what I want to change the values to but it does indeed reroute the drum controller note values to other values. Thanks for the help! Now that I have them routed maybe it will work across other kits. It would have been easier being able to change the note values directly from the controlleer drum module. I will call Sweeetwater or Alesis tomorrow and see if the note values can be changed. I assume if I can change patches for each drum within the module maybe there is a 1-128 bank of blank patches too. Or maybe a user bank that can be reassigned. I will try that with the GMIDI switch for AD2 also SCook!
  22. BD is C3 36 Snare is D3 38 HH is A#3 46 HH Pedal is G#3 44 Cymbal 1 is C#4 49 Tom 1 is C4 48 Tom 2 is A3 45 Cymbal 2 is D#4 51 Tom 3 is G3 43 This is what I have, When I record each drum in Cakewalk these are the corresponding note numbers. I think they are all coming across on channel 10 If they each had different channels my problems would be sort of solved (i think).
  23. When I open MIDI-OX I get this really fast stream of events coming from the Turbo Mesh "timing clock" I have not fugured out what this is or how to filter that out so I can isolate other parameters. I am not sure if Cakewalk will work with MIDI-OX they seem to have sharing issues.
