I don't think Celemony/Melodyne has a forum... I think a lot of hate was spewed there with the anti-autotune folks, so they shut it down. (just a guess) But you can email Melodyne directly and they are very nice to respond within a few hours to a day. The new Melodyne is much better than the old one. I rarely have multiple Melodyne instances within the same track. I just comp whatever takes I want and then delete the muted takes and then apply Melodyne to the whole track. The multiple Melodyne tracks in one view is sure helpful in aligning tracks. Make sure your takes do not overlap. I never bounce/freeze my Melodyne tracks, I just leave Melodyne on them through the final render. I am always going back and tweaking things. https://www.celemony.com/en/help/forum

Cakewalk slow at adding new tracks and other things I have an RME Fireface UCX II interface. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? My recollection from older interfaces is, adding a new track should be instant. Cakewalk is also installed on a M.2 drive and my content is on a solid state drive. I just did a test, I turned off my RME interface and opened a new project. Cakewalk complained there were no outputs for the master. But the audio tracks then insert instantaneously. So it is the RME device that is slowing down Cakewalk. Why is this happening?

Thanks for the awesome comments. I especially love the comments I get from this forum, they mean a lot to me. Cakewalk forever!

Hello Cakewalk peeps! I changed the instrumental arrangement in this song. I hope you like the fiddle and pedal steel

For your listening pleasure... ? All the best Cakewalk peeps! RexRed

Thanks for the awesome replies! The saw lead in the center of the song is a hold over from when this song was made back in the late 80's. All of the other tracks have been remade but that one. I plan to revise that too, perhaps with a pedal steel. That saw lead was recorded on a reel to reel from a Yamaha DX27 synth. It has lost some fidelity and harmonics over the years and that fidelity is only recoverable with redoing the track entirely. I will probably use a different sound/instrument when I do remake the track. Thanks for the kind comments Cakewalk peeps! Love always! Rex

Well, somehow it got fixed. Now it says 24 bit when I open projects. I am not sure how it got fixed. I changed audio preferences to 24 from 16 and I reinstalled CBB. Then I found I had two Breverb instances in my VST .dlls program files (64 bit) One in a Breverb for Cakewalk folder and one in an Overloud folder. I uninstalled Breverb and then deleted the Breverb for Cakewalk folder then I reinstalled Breverb. Now my projects do not crash when I open them when they contain an instance of Breverb and it reads 24bit for recording. I am not sure what exactly fixed the 24 bit thing but having two folders for Breverb was definitely the cause of my crashes. Now everything seems to be working right. Also it seems a bit more peppy when I add a new audio track or effect. This Breverb thing was really giving me problems. I am REALLY glad this is solved. And, I learned some more of the finer details of how Cakewalk works from all of your helpful replies. Thank you Cakewalk peeps! You are all awesome! Best to you!

I know I recorded these projects at 24 bit but now they only open at 16 bit. Like some plugin is forcing them to open at 16bit.
-
Why are my 24bit projects now only opening as 16 bit? It says 24 bit as the audio bit depth driver in the audio preferences but it is also grayed out. I know I recorded these projects as 24 bit but now everything is opening as 16 bit. I have a RME Fireface UCX II interface and in the windows sound setting almost everything is set to 24 bit 96khz. But still Cakewalk is only opening files as 16 bit? Thanks for any help on this.

Cakewalk crashing when opening some older files?
RexRed replied to RexRed's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
It turned out to be Breverb, It seems the old Breverb I had on my other computer is not compatible with the one I downloaded on my new computer. -
Cakewalk crashing when opening some older files?
RexRed replied to RexRed's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks, I will try that Scook. ? -
I have some older files I am attempting to open some older song files and something in the file is causing Cakewalk to crash. Probably a VST incompatibility, I recently redid my system. These song files are only about a year old. How do I isolate which plugin is causing the problem?

My projects folder is on a M2 drive.

Due to unchecking the unused inputs and outputs I am now down to a long second when inserting a track with the audio engine engaged. When I disable the audio engine it is roughly the exact same time. It is not instantaneous, but it is not 4 seconds either now. One good second is not bad with audio engine on or off, I can definitely live with that. I think this has sped up things considerably! Then, I also went into Windows device manager and disabled the ADAT sound devices and a few ins and outs I don't use and this has lowered the heat problem considerably of the unit. Now the unit is just moderately warm (not hot). You have all been very helpful in assisting me with these inquiries. Many thanks!

Okay, I seem to have had some luck. Thanks to your suggestions, I went into Cakewalk preferences and unchecked all of the inputs and outputs except for 1+2 that I use for my mic inputs and 5+6 that I use for my Cakewalk master outputs. I unchecked all of the ADAT and other ins and outs. Now it takes a good second for me to add an audio track. I assume other things will be faster as well. I also uninstalled Voicemeeter Potato and the 4 virtual cables I had installed (just incase). I have not had a use for Voicemeeter since I have had dedicated ins and outs. Now I will consult RME and see about if there is a way to turn off internal components to cool down this rig. Voicemeeter had its vital use for me but I have not needed it in a long time. I will look into the Windows Defender scan and even OneDrive and my desktop, what a mess that is. OneDrive used to be simple to use and now it is one big giant spyware "octapus". OneDrive backing up my Cakewalk files while I am recording, not good... Oh well.

Hello Noel, the RME device does not insert immediately, it takes about 4 to 5 seconds before Cakewalk asks if I would like to add the RME device. It takes about 10 seconds for Cakewalk to ask if I would like to reroute the output to another device once the RME is turned off. I do record 24 bit 96kbps (if that matters).
-
I installed the latest RME driver, now it takes about two seconds for the new audio track to be inserted in track view. So it is better but not perfect. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any suggestions concerning this. I am wondering if there is a way I can turn off some of the hardware inside the Fireface. Like the extra ADAT ports that I do not use. It runs hot, I am thinking that disabling them could cool the unit down a bit.

Okay, I think I have figured it out, sort of. I am sorry to have implied that Cakewalk is sluggish. The problem I am having does not seem like it is Cakewalk itself. When I unplug my audio interface, the problem goes away. So now to figure out why my RME Fireface is causing Cakewalk to be sluggish...

Cakewalk says "no control surface", perhaps if I add one and remove it? I am using a RME Fireface UCX2 interface. I will check today for an updated driver for the RME device. Isn't there a way to run Cakewalk in safemode or a diagnostic mode? Perhaps if I reinstall Cakewalk? Any suggestions would be great, thank you! ?

I recently had to reinstall Cakewalk so I had to reinstall it from X2-X3-Platinum-CBB to get all of the plugins/VSTs from earlier versions. Cakewalk plays fine but when I add a new audio track it takes longer than expected like a few seconds. Is this the way Cakewalk is supposed to be? Have the new updates to CBB created this behavior and if not, is there a way I can fix this? My project files are on SSD and Cakewalk is installed on a different SSD drive as well. I don't really need the older versions of Cakewalk but they really do not take up much space. Cakewalk seems stable but it seems sluggish. Is anyone else experiencing this?

New song! Still a work in progress, comments and suggestions welcome! ☺️ Enjoy Cakewalk peeps! Best to you! RexRed

I did not use any harmony VST Jack, just multitrack recordings, me singing all the parts. Oohs, ahhs, harmonies, dubs and lead vocals. Thanks Jack and SupaReels for the awesome critique and compliments! ? I tried to sing a higher vocal harmony up in the soprano range and it was just not going to happen.
