This is a beautiful piece of music and indeed a lovely, relaxing. Gee, just looking at the picture and listen to your music, I already feel more relaxed. Very nice work!!!

This is a beautiful song with wonderful performances by both son and daughter. For a live performance your recording and mixes are great. I'm a fan of live recordings -- not only because I don't understand all those pieces of equipment in the studio but there just seems to be a bit of humanity that comes through in a live performance. Listening to the work of Tom Dowd (RIP) confirms that. As I stated before both versions are great but the 1st version that you posted (second one in this posting) seems to have a warmth that really appealed to me.

Hi Bjorn. Thank you. I really appreciate the kind words. I was not happy with this song until Lynn came to the rescue, and then it was a barrel of fun. Thanks again. Hi Jack. Thanks very much for the listen and kind comments. I appreciate the UK reference. I have been listening to a lot of music coming out of the UK recently. What strikes me most is the diversity in genre, styles, and talent in what I have been listening to. I appreciate your taking the time to listen and comment! Hey Lynn. Thanks so very much for your collaboration on this song. I had a skeleton of a song that needed help. It needed a bit of "sizzle." That is the best way I can describe it. Well, you certainly gave it the sizzle and much, much more. Given my limitations in mixing, I really appreciate your taking over that task also. Hopefully, we can do another one in the not to distant future. Thanks pal!!! Thank you Tom. Your thoughtful comments are always very much appreciated! I am glad that you are keeping "WiFi" in the possessions that you are keeping. In that way you can keep sharing your work on the forum. You will do that won't you?! And kudos indeed to "Lynn the Lynn the Mix Whisperer! Hi Joad. Thanks very much for listening and taking the time to comment. I'm very glad that you liked it!

Brilliant!!! This was pure entertainment and an absolute hoot. Great video (cleverly done) and a great song with cool lyrics. Oh ya, great performance and production on the song and video. I can't remember the name of the film but I do remember the quote by one of the characters in it: "... old men are invisible." The quote might be appropriate to this production. Being a "Boomer" it might even apply to me. Y'all look like you must put on a great show. -
This is a lovely song David and the video complements it very well. I also loved the percussion and thought the bass lines added a lot to the flow of the song. Nice guitar work also. IMHO some times the simplicity of a song that is done well can carry the day. I think that you have matched that goal in this song.

Beautiful song Rex with beautiful sentiments. Your vocals are terrific as are the BGV's and harmonies.

REVISION NOTES: First my apologies in my brevity but it is raining buckets outside and we have had gusts up to to 40-45mph. The electricity has been out for about 3 to 4 hours but it is flickering and I'm not sure how long it will last. Yesterday I received a new mix on this song from Lynn. Lynn was responding to some of the comments below. The vocals were increased in the verses, the drums were brought up in the choruses (to make the Tom Toms "pop"), and to my aging ears his excellent harmonies are coming through a bit stronger. I thought the first mix sounded good but what he did with this second mix sounds even better. Many thanks Lynn. I have been working on this song for a few years now. I have tried several iterations of it but these always would end up with me being frustrated and storing it away - only to pull it out at a later date and becoming frustrated again (is this another run on sentence?). I recently pulled it out again but this time I got smart. I have always admired the songs that Lynn has been posting on this forum. I contacted him and asked if he might give me a hand in completing it. Fortunately he said yes. I forwarded him an mp3 of what I had done in my last attempt along with a few WAV tracks (e.g., drums, 2 rhythm guitar tracks, lead vocal and bass) and my plea to do whatever he could do to rescue this song. Well, Lynn certainly came through in grand fashion! He not only improved the tracks that I sent him but added: harmony vocals; a hot lead guitar (pan C) and rhythm guitar (pan R); some incredible synth riffs on the choruses; and cool E-Bow sounds on the outro. I didn't even know what an E-Bow was until I looked it up. As my mixing skills are limited, he even agreed to do the final mix. Needless to say I am very grateful to Lynn for his help and rescuing this song. I hope that you enjoy it and as always comments, suggestions, etc. are appreciated. Hi Josie, Thank you for listening and thanks also for your comments. This is song is just a fictional tale that I made up as are many of my songs. I have committed to saying "I Love You". When we were just 17 years old I met a girl and fell in love. We married right after college and have been continuously together for many decades since. I have said I love you (to her) too many times to count. I mean it every time that I say it. I have put these feelings in my songs also (e.g., my SoundClick website page: Hot Dog (#15), Forever (#20, Crazy About You #37, Day's End (#43)). These songs are personal to me. I do have a tendency to observe things (personal, social, political, and scientific). I sometimes use these observations to tell stories in my songs. For example (SoundClick website): Poor Little Darlin' (#4), Truth & Reality (#8), Hey There (#19), Life: The Ultimate in Procrastination (#6), etc. Many of these songs might be based on observations/interpretations but they are all fictional and non-personal. I hope this explains the subject of the song "What Was I Thinkin'." I do not feel this way nor am I this way. The subject of this song is a collection of several personalities that I have been acquainted with and I just mixed them up in a song. Thanks again for listening and taking the time to comment.

Hey Wookiee. Thank you my furry friend. I appreciate the encouragement and your taking the time to listen and comment. Hi Hidden Symmetry. I am very glad that you enjoyed it Thanks for listening and commenting. Hi John B. I did have fun with this song. I am doing this stuff for a wee bit of learning and self entertainment. So, having fun is a big part of the formula. Thanks for the kind words! Hi Allan. I very much appreciate the very kind words. While I'm sorry that it disoriented you but I am glad that it took you somewhere. Thanks again!!! Hi Lynn. Thanks for listening and the encouragement. Thanks also for agreeing to "give it a go" with the stuff I sent you. Given your talent - you can only make it better.

This is a beautiful piece Bjorn. That VST guitar did indeed sound good. Well done!

Hi ya pal! Well you have gone off in another direction - again - and doggone if you haven't come up with something different and ultra cool -AGAIN!!! I was just listening to some rockabilly. So, in the vernacular of the 1950's --- That was real gone man, I dig it the most!

Absoflippinlutely, Bond-ish. I love your take on this. Excellent guitar playing on this also. I always enjoy your instrumentals!!!!

I loved the intro. You really have masted the synths!!! It certainly pulled me into the sounds and created all kinds of mental images for me. Oh ya -- the ending was most cool!
-
Good comments given above. Given that - I really like the song and your vocals were great. Ya, it does have a Talking Heads meets Lou Reed sound to me.
-
Biiiigggg sound indeed. Love the delay on the vocal . Also really like the driving hard sound. As usual top-notch!

Some different interpretations as to what this song sounds like and yet I'll add another. To me the melody sound like an early 1960's song as done maybe in the style of the Mekons. I liked their early stuff especially "Where Were You?" I really like the minimalist nature of this song!

Hi Jack C. Thanks very much for listening and the encouragement! Hi Douglas. I threw in a bit of Do-Wop on the ending vocals. I guess that makes this a dowopabluesabilly song (?). Thanks very much for listening and for your comments! Hey David. You're probably right -Mars attacks. I appreciate your taking time to listen, for the kind words, and for the probable solution of Mars attacks. Hi Bert. I'm very glad that you liked it! Thanks for listening to it and for your kind response! Hi Makke. Thanks very much for listening and for the kind words. BTW, I really liked your last song post! Thank you very much Gary. I very much appreciate your taking time to listen and comment! Hey Bjorn. I have been listening to a wide variety of music recently and I enjoy much of it. However, it always comes home to the music that as a wee, little, pre-teenie bopper I grew up with. Yup, good old Blues and r 'n r. Thanks for the kind words pal!

Excellent playing and a most enjoyable listen!!!

Perfect - I wouldn't change a doggone thing! You have written some great, uplifting lyrics. The minimalist instrumentation is absolutely perfect in completing the package. When I listened it sounded like a guy and his guitar expressing some happy thoughts and it was more like a personal presentation for the listener. I am not sure if the volume was adjusted when I listened. However, even when it got soft it served only to draw me into the song further. The way it is presented now makes it very personal. I did not notice any little glitches but if they were there they only added to the humanity of the song. Very well done!!!

That was just downright cool! I like that rhythmic piece panned center that drives this song along. I also have to agree with the comments concerning the bass --- nice! Given the idea of quantum super-positioning perhaps speed isn't important but what determines where you are and how fast you get there is the interference of the observer. Nah, that only occurs at the sub atomic level. Doesn't it? I'm just sayin'. Well done Wookiee - I enjoyed it!
-
A really beautiful piece David. Me grandma would be luvin' it. Well done!!!

Hi tom. Thanks for trying again! I appreciate it. I get nervous using reverb/delay on vocals because of my tendency to abuse it but I just had to use it on this song. Thanks for listening and the thumb!!! Hi David. Perhaps it was "Mars Attacks" or perhaps the super Sun flares that we have been warned about? Probably not. ? Hi Nigel. I have to go back to the basic, raw side of the Blues every once in a while. To misquote John Lee Hooker - it's in me and gotta get out. I appreciate your taking the time to listen and for the kind words.

Wow -- Excellent!! Judging from work that you have previously posted I am guessing that the photography was done by you. It is absolutely excellent. The music that accompanies the photos really enhances the majesty and wonder of the subject matter of the photos. I regret that I have only been out west, in the USA, two times. If this doggone pandemic ever abates, I am going to have to make a concerted effort to get out there! Well done Bjorn!!!
