Hi Tim, this is a long way from the great Celtic tunes you wrote a few years ago. I really appreciate your lyrics, which are timely and prescient. The song rocks very hard and loud, in fact, I had to turn my monitors down a bit, so you have no problem with enough volume. I wonder what it would sound like if you raised the vocals a db or two and lowered the threshold of your mastering limiter a few dBs (that is, if you're using a limiter or compressor). This song is gold and worth a few tweaks, but I love it anyway!

Dang, Paul, this is some serious sh#t. I want to emulate you! If you do nothing else to this, it's solid gold! More please

Rob, thanks a million for weighing in on this! I've learned a lot from listening to you over the years. Nobody does it better than you. Your words are very encouraging! -
Keni, I just happen to be working on a song with A5. I froze the track and unfroze it with no problems. Your problem may be system specific?

Thank you, Terry! I'm glad you're back on the forum! Good to hear from you, Freddy! Give Daryl all the credit for the feel and format. I love that style, too. All in all, we're just trying to keep up with all the prolific songwriters around here like you. Ross, thanks so much for your encouraging words! It means a lot coming from you! -
Very cool, Steve, I never know what to expect from you. Your versatility pays off!

As always, you've given us a cool video with thought-provoking lyrics. Your work has given me the impetus to do better! Keep it up, and you'll get that mojo back.

Another inspiring track from you! It's already hard enough keeping up with you guys. More, please!

Steve, you are too kind! Much appreciated! Mark, this means a lot coming from a master like you! Give Daryl the credit for coming up with some inspiring tracks. Thank you, Nigel. You may have had a role in this by raising the bar around here! Thanks for your kind words, Larry! I had hoped that I trimmed the fat off of this enough, but perhaps not? -
Terry, this is one of the best songs I've heard from you! The mix is big and clear, and the performances are tight. I love the bridge and total arrangement. You've become quite the producer! Encore!

Well done, Gary! This song sounds huge on my speakers - like I was right in the room with you. Keep it up

"Back in Time" Featuring Cole the VII. Something Very Different for Me.
Lynn Wilson replied to PavlovsCat's topic in Songs
Well, this ought to impress your son! Everything sounds right and tight, and this made me a fan of a genre that I don't listen to very much. Take a bow! -
I like the style of this song and the fact that you're stretching those creative muscles! It's like comfort food for the soul. On the technical side, the vocals seem to be narrowly panned, though not the guitar. I wonder if it might be useful to EQ your lead vocal slightly different, say a mild boost around 3k, or maybe roll-off some low end? Otherwise, this is a fine addition to your extensive collection of songs.

KS, thank you for your time and comment! Give this credit to Daryl. p.s.- I raised the volume of the guitars that Bjorn mentioned. -

And, it started with you, mate! That awesome guitar riff was a good starting point! Thanks, Bjorn! Your words always mean a lot to me. You're right about the guitar - next pass. -
Two weeks ago, Dary sent me some instrument tracks to develop into a song, and here is the result: https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14668987 I received from him tracks with drums, the opening guitar riff, synth bass, a sampled funk guitar, and a synth rhythm track. These became the intro, verses, and pre-choruses. I wrote the chorus and provided the words, melody, bass, additional drums, and more guitar. Daryl sang backup on the choruses to supplement my vocals. Considering how fast this came together, we come here looking for your ideas and suggestions. As always, thanks so much for your time and effort!

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! I've actually remixed this just minutes ago, using suggestions from above regarding the ping-pong delay. I hope you still like it.

Well written, well played, and well mixed! This makes a great template for the rest of us. Keep it going, Ross! A+

Gentlemen, thanks for your responses and time! I'll be taking your ideas into consideration when I get back to the studio. You're not alone in your take on the vox, so I will benefit from trying a new approach! Stay tuned
