I was thinking along the lines of "Dedicated Follower of Fashion" as I was writing the lyric. I mean in the vein of not a love song, and something that no one would ever write about. Whoever wrote about a work a workaholic woman that gave up a normal life for a career, even though it happens all the time now days. Thank you for listening and sharing your thoughts with me! Terry

I wrote the song "You Don't Want to Be Her" with a workaholic in mind. From what I've observed in business, workaholics almost always find success. I also imagined what Ray Davies from The Kinks might say, as I've always admired his quirky and insightful lyrics. https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/terrycarroll/you-dont-want-to-be-her-rm1 Cheers, Terry Carroll

Very well done! sounds very much like a movie part. There does seem to be some parts that go on without getting to the place it feels like it should. Without seeing it in a movie, it's hard to understand the tension you created Comes to a good close. Cheers, Terry

My song "I Was Born to Be a Cubs Fan" should be no surprise for that know me. To get past the Cubs thing, pretend it's about your favorite team, that is if you have one. I find that a lot of musicians don't have much time left in their demanding life to follow sports. https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/cubsfan/i-was-born-to-be-a-cubs-fan-ins Cheers, Terry

Thank you for your kind words. Lyrics are hard for me. I always thought lyrics would get easer as I wrote more, that didn't happen. We always want every line to be great. Right? Needless to say, I never achieve that goal, I end up settling on a line because it wears me down in parts of the song. I try to write what is true to me and hope someone will relate. Thanks again Cheers, Terry

"I Just Want to Understand" is a philosophical exploration of the intriguing paradox that the simplest aspects of life often carry profound complexity. The song delves into the enigmatic nature of existence, where straightforward concepts can unravel into intricate webs of meaning and interpretation. The central theme revolves around the idea that what appears simple on the surface frequently conceals deeper layers of complexity. This duality is a fundamental aspect of philosophical inquiry, where understanding a seemingly basic idea often requires grappling with intricate details and multifaceted perspectives. In the chorus, "I just want to understand," the song captures the universal human drive to make sense of the world. It reflects the frustration and curiosity that arise when we encounter situations or concepts that defy easy explanation. This pursuit of understanding is emblematic of the philosophical journey, where each answer leads to new questions and each discovery reveals further mysteries. The verses may explore various examples of this paradox, such as the simplicity of a single moment that holds a lifetime of experiences, or the straightforward nature of a concept like love that encompasses a vast range of emotions and connections. These examples highlight how the simplest things in life are often the most profound, requiring us to look beyond the obvious and delve into the deeper truths. https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/terrycarroll/i-just-want-to-understand Cheers, Terry

This would make a top FM play list in the late 70s. Sounds a little like "Death Cab For Cutie ", that's cool thing. I Like this

Always cool to hear a Blues/Rock track with a pop side it. Nice. Would love to hear more stuff like this -
I believe this song was inspired by "We Are The Champions ",, but it also has a inspiration from Katy Perry's "Roar. When I first heard "Roar", it made me think of "We Are The Champions" right away. There was another song of Queens that I found impartation as well. However, as funny as it may sound, this may have been inspired by "Roar" as well. The song is really not about having an ego for Power. It's about believing in yourself. Having a vision and knowing that only the person that has the vision can make it happen and succeed , Win , or, loss, you have to Leave it in the lap of the Gods. No excuses .
