It's official: CbB will not continue for long.
Kevin Walsh replied to John Vere's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This news is a lot easier to swallow than when Gibson announced that they were shutting Cakewalk down. That was a real problem to deal with, hard decisions had to be made. No matter what happens here, we will have options, not problems. -

I'd love to hear about these free DAWs that can do what CbB can do. Tell me more. -
Very lovely, really well-thought out piece, and the mix sounds incredible.

Pretty hoppin' tune, Steve! Great lyrics and a very engaging arrangement. Love it!

Man, this is a very nice recording! Great vintage vibe here, love the smooth tune, really nice performances too.

Nice work on both the tune and the video! I love what AI helps us get done!

The 70's yes sounds seem pretty pristine to me, with a pretty deft hand and a light touch on post processing, just great performances by incredibly talented artists at the top of their form. The artistry in the mix lies in a wonderful balance of a lot of sounds, particularly with the drms and bass. I've seen yes perform many times and to my young ears their live sound and their recorded sound were pretty similar. Of course i may be way off base because i only have my ears to judge, i know little about how those seminal works were actually made. I guess the prog works that i am most fond of focuses on the musicianship of the performers and tries to capture the sounds the are making live rather than trying to apply a signature veneer in the mixing desk.

Nor mine, Timbo, but it's nice to fail so quickly.

I've been using Slate VSX since version 1 and I love them. I also use them for most of my listening, which, as has been pointed out by others, really helps. I'm no professional mixer (or any other kind of professional when it comes to making music) but since I've had VSX it's been MUCH easier to put together a mix that I immediately find playable on my room stereo and in my truck and my wife's car. That's something I was unable to do before VSX. One other thing; I've had a few problems with earlier versions of the headphones. Two pairs over the course of about three years broke. And every time, a simple email to Slate resulted in a message: "New phone on their way!" Slate has astoundingly superb customer service. The final pair I received are significantly better structurally, and I've had no problems since receiving those. Enjoy your new VSX phones, you will be amazed at how effective they are. I'm wearing my VSX headset now listening to Tom Petty's "Damn the Torpedos". Bliss.

Nice system! Sounds like your good for another decade or two! I upgraded a few years ago to a Ryzen 3950x - based system and I'm awestruck every day by how fast this thing is. That said, I'm still hungry for more.

I love shiny new software. I'm just a sucker for v-next, so there's no doubt in my mind that I'll buy both of them. And keep CbB and Sonar Platinum on my computer. And Reaper and Ableton too. Tally ho, Cakewalk! Onward!

thanks jeff, very much appreciate your feedback!

Thanks for the listen and the feedback, I appreciate you lending yor ears!

I like this one, very cool laid back but still driving arrangement. Your voice is fine, you just need to work with it awhile like you do with any other instrument. Soon you'll be comfortable with how it sounds and you'll start writing stuff that plays to your sound. John Lennon, one of the great voices in rock, hated his voice.

Reaper nuked Cakewalk? - SOLVED - Sountoys Update Problem
Kevin Walsh replied to HOOK's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I routinely run both DAWs on my machines with no issues. You might want to check to see if your ASIO drivers settings in Cakewalk have been changed. -
Thanks so much andy!

Many thanks daryl! You are apparently not the only one. ?

Staypress strikes again with another clever and very well-produced song! The vocals are so great in all of your songs and every aspect of the arrangement in this is characteristically sophisticated. The mix is beautiful. Really enjoyed it!

Between this forum and the last one, since 2007 I have maybe six or seven hundred.
