How control different Instrument VST with different midi key
scook replied to midris_syafii's question in Q&A
Vital has a single stereo out but it is possible to drive multiple synths from a single MIDI track with a drum map. In fact, each note in a drum map may be routed to a different synth, so a single drum map could drive 128 different synths. Of course, there is no need to have all the MIDI data on a single track, each instance of Vital could just as well have its own MIDI or instrument track, one for each instrument in the drum kit and use the piano roll view all the notes for all the instruments in a single "track." A free take on a KORG Mini Pops-7 Rhythm Machine is available from full bucket music. It is called BucketPops. It is multi-output and has a lot of control over the sound of each of the 15 instruments. The sounds may be triggered by the rhythms in the plug-in or by MIDI or any combination. Most drum synths are sample based. Another free drum synth is Poise. It offers a little more control over the samples and pads than Sitala. -
@abacab compiled the spreadsheet. The latest version is linked in the long thread referenced in the post above.

I started with an advanced install selecting minimal install of X2 for V-Vocal and plug-ins not in X3 followed with an advanced install of X3 for plug-ins not in Platinum and a full install of Platinum. Also check out my post above for details on installing legacy products.

Drag the clip edge as long as necessary When using the extra note method, to avoid having to edit the unwanted note from the frozen track, set the note velocity to 0.
-
A simple uninstall does not. A clean install might but may be avoided by modifying step 9 by temporarily moving "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins" and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins" out of the Cakewalk folders before deleting the Cakewalk folders then reintegrating the Vstplugins folders after re-installing. If you still have the full CbB installer, a clean install is not necessary for what you are doing.

Every release announcement has a rollback installer. The rollback installer for the current release is in This is in the track view Options menu

This leads to a pretty in-depth discussion of how to install SONAR and Cakewalk One thing I don't mention is using allowing the installer to use previous settings. As a rule, this prompt should be answered with "No". Also, if one wants to redirect file such as Cakewalk Content, the directory junctions may be made at any time.
-
If a directory junction exists pointing "C:\Cakewalk Content" to another physical location such as "E:\Cakewalk Content" even though the installer writes to "C:\Cakewalk Content" the actual data is written to the physical location pointed to by the directory junction.

I don't know if there is a single file size limit. There is a per-user total quota. Rather than mess with uploading to this site, I use imgur.com to host images and videos and google drive for themes and other CbB related files.

I believe you may be thinking of MME When a real ASIO driver is not available WASAPI is the preferred driver for Win10 WDM is the preferred driver for older OSes MME usually works with anything, but it is the poorest performer.

Yeah, it's not a matter of adding a node, it's a change to a different curve like this
-
For now, rather than adding and dragging a node to change the envelope, change the curve from jump to one of the other curves.

(not a bug) Sustain pedal not released on Stop
scook replied to Jeremy Murray-Wakefield's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Not being very sophisticated when it comes to CC data. I wonder if this makes the case for "zero controllers" being a per-track option or overriding the global setting per track. -
Still using SPLAT - am I missing out?
scook replied to Russell Alexander's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
The DAW has regularly received bug fixes and enhancements. Browse the new features section in the help. Unlike SONAR Platinum, Cakewalk by BandLab does not include much 3rd party content. But, as noted above, all the content installed with 64bit versions of old Cakewalk products may be used in Cakewalk by BandLab. Here are some tips for installing legacy content. -
Studio Instruments is a separate download. It may be found in the "Install Addons..." menu option or in the Cakewalk Web Installer.

In the export dialog, set the Channel Format to "Follow Source". set the Source Category to Tracks. select the tracks to export set the other options as desired For more info, see http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=0x2026A

Drum maps have no sounds associated with them. They are primarily for transposing MIDI note data and providing labels for the drum grid pane. Hardware synths and software plug-ins are responsible for generating sound based on MIDI data. For drums. Cakewalk includes Studio Instruments Drum Kit and TTS-1. There are quite a few free and commercial third-party drum plug-ins. Here is a thread about free plug-ins that includes some dedicated drum plug-ins.

Prior to SONAR 2016.11 the synth rack was not a separate view instead; the synth rack was a tab in the browser. Starting with 2016.11, the synth rack tab was replaced with the notes tab and the synth rack view was created. It is important to include version info when posting about any DAW. The version info is in the about screen. The about screen is on the help menu.

Open the drum map and verify the output column is set to the synth. I stopped using drum maps for most cases starting with CbB 2021.06 when persistent per-track note names were added. Here is an instrument definition for SD3.

128GB is a little small for a system drive. If you are not familiar with directory junctions, it may be good time to learn about mklink. Years ago, when faced with a full system drive, I moved "Cakewalk Content" to my D drive using this two-step process: Using Windows Explorer move "C:\Cakewalk Content" to "D:\Cakewalk Content" Open a command shell as administrator and type mklink /j "C:\Cakewalk Content" "D:\Cakewalk Content" This solution works for other programs as well.

Is autosave or versioning enabled?
