Not all plug-ins support a sidechain input. In order to use Waves plug-ins that have sidechain support in CbB the VST3 format must be used.

The move to 64bit started over 15 years ago. Most plug-ins that are still 32bit only are that way because The tools used to create them were 32bit, for example SynthEdit The manufacturer replaced 32bit plug-ins with different products. For example, Cakewalk Sound Center was replace by Rapture Session. The product was discontinued. Regardless of the reason, almost all plug-ins that are 32bit only are pretty old. Due to their age, some plug-ins fail to scan because they violate current Windows security policy. Changing permissions in the registry or drive can fix some scan issues. Installing in non-restricted areas of a drive avoids the drive permissions problem. Some plug-ins have no remedy other than running the DAW as administrator. Bridging was created to buy time for developers and ease the transition for users migrating to 64bit software. It was never intended to extend the life of unmaintained and unsupported plug-ins indefinitely. Relying on unmaintained and unsupported software is not a good idea.

I do not know anything about the driver other than its name. It could be a re-badged ASIO4All driver. It could be a manufacturer or 3rd developed ASIO driver. It may be a good driver. It may be a bad driver. In some cases even though an interface comes with a custom written ASIO drivers performance is better using a different driver mode or even ASIO4All.

It mean that is the only driver available to CbB when running is ASIO driver mode.
-
If ASIO4All is not referenced in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO then the software does not exists as far as Cakewalk is concerned.

MAJOR problem witha VSTi - Hypersonic - crash

Updating everything except plug-ins is asking for trouble. 32bit bridges were created to give plug-in developers and users time to transition to 64bit. They were not intended to extend the life of 32bit plug-ins indefinitely. It is well past the time to look for 64bit replacements for software the manufacturers abandoned years ago. -

No. When using ASIO4All the devices available to the host are managed by the ASIO4All software. Even when multiple ASIO drivers are available the ASIO specification requires hosts to use one I/O driver at a time.

It may go by different names, I suspect large sample-based pianos stream samples. Certainly the one that has a buffer size setting sounds like a streaming setting. Synths that do not stream load all samples into memory at once and typically do not have any options at all for buffering.

Unless volume automation is desired, there is no need to add the envelope. One thing to keep in mind about automation - the act of opening automation lanes when a track has no automation automatically creates a volume envelope. This can cause problems if no automation is desired. To remove unwanted automation envelopes, right-click on the envelope and select "Delete Envelope." Simply deleting the automation lane does not delete the automation envelope.

Turn off Always Echo Current MIDI Track and take manual control of input echo. If all you want to do is play both synths using the same data, record one instrument then copy the clip(s) into the other instrument track making sure to link the clips (an option in paste special). Linked clips allow edits to propagate to both tracks. Clips may be unlinked at any time. Streaming samples my reduce the load on the PC. This is configured in the plug-ins that support the feature. It is also a good idea to post separate threads for unrelated topics. Adding multiple topics in a thread does not help other users looking for solutions.

Database Error and Database Update Failed
scook replied to Jerry Gerber's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This is why I wrote This will work fine unless you need to (re)run some of the Platinum installers. Some of the Platinum installers only run if Platinum is found in the registry. The act of uninstalling and re-installing CbB restores the shared files removed by uninstalling SONAR such as library.db. -
Database Error and Database Update Failed
scook replied to Jerry Gerber's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
SONAR and CbB share many files. There used to be a warning when updating SONAR that uninstalling a previous version would damage the updated version. The impact of uninstalling SONAR after installing CbB is the same. In the case of SONAR Platinum, Bandlab recommends installing SONAR Platinum in full, then installing CbB and leaving both DAWs on the PC. Uninstalling SONAR has removed files used by CbB. At a minimum, you need to uninstall CbB and re-install it. The best solution is uninstall CbB, install SONAR Platinum then re-install CbB. Any custom category assignments are gone unless you have a backup of %appdata%\Cakewalk\Library\Library.db Re-installing restores the default database. -
Addictive drums shows as an FX not Soft synth. How?

Run a VST Reset from Preferences -
If it was the full version, the installer may be in your Cakewalk account. I am not familiar with how the synth was delivered for that promo.

The plug-in is not part of SHS At least according to http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Comparison.html Or is this an older version of SHS? I don't have any experience with that part of the CW product line.
-
That's right. I was just about to post the section for z3ta+.dll. It fails too. Could try re-installing. What versions of SONAR do you have? The plug-in was not bundled with SONAR Home Studio.
-
Upload the log somewhere and post a link to it. I will look take a look at the log. Does z3ta+ show up in effects? If so, what are the names of the FX entries?
-
Always unless support suggests otherwise
-
restore the file names From preferences run a VST Reset with "Generate Scan Log" enabled If the plug-ins do not show up in the "Sort by" layouts bundled with CbB, review the scan log for details about Z3ta+.
