One of the nicest things someone has ever said too me about my guitar playing took place at a small club I was playing in City Island NY back in the 90's . I noticed a young lady in her 30's who need crutches just to walk and stand . She had came out to see me play every time I did a GIG there which turned out to be about once a week . At the end of this gigs night she hobbled up to where I had been playing in the area where I was now packing up my gear she said " Can I talk to you for a moment " I could see it in her eyes that she was energized and filled with positive mojo so I bent over a little and leaned in to meet her at her eye and height level . She asked me if I believed in Reincarnation and I said" Yes I believe in that " . Then she put a big wide smile on her face and blurted out "When I die I want to come back and be reincarnated as your guitar ." I was like wow ! I can tell she had become super embarrassed because tuned redder than an ripe Apple and I did the only thing I could do . I leaned in and put a hug on her that to this day I wish I could experience again . I felt so much emotion stir up inside me for this woman at that moment in time and I asked her was she local and how was she getting home . She told me she lived around 3 or 4 blocks in the area and she had walked to the club. So I strapped my small Fender combo to my motorcycle and left it in front of the club . The I slung my guitar in a gig bag over my shoulder and walked her home . We stood outside the fence of the lawn where she lived under a tree and talked for hours ....I felt so much of a connection that took place in the moment that to even touch her or kiss her would have taken away from the whole wholesome experience ...I figured she had seen and knew how my fingers moved on a guitar and I didn't want to spoil the moment ! ? When the Sun came up I said my goodbyes to her . To this day I have always kept a place in my heart just for her . Kenny Why spoil it

It's time for" somebodies turn " to put on the red prosthetic nose , wear the big shoes , and drive the tiny little red car ! ? Hey Milo ! Get off the hood of our car . I can't see the road ? Kenny -

? You just might be right on that one . Today I had one of those old man moments . A really good produce store in my area offers seniors a 10 % discount on Tuesdays . As I'm paying I fished out some loose change so I didn't have to break a bill . I'm sorting the coins out and 2 of them drop and hit the floor .I bend over to get them and I couldn't reach them . After something like 25 seconds I started turning red so the fella next in line a you guy in his 20 's swooped in a picked them up for me ...All I could do was say thank you and laugh ... I did tell him getting old sucks !And that I used to make fun of those I have fallen and I can't get up commercials. Now it seems I'm just about living it . Kenny -
About 20 years ago I was playing at an open mic in a coffee house in the San Fernando Valley . I get up plug in my guitar and sit on a chair on the little riser stage . A young guy with shoulder length hair wearing a fashionably in style plaid flannel shirt walks up gets on his knees and places his elbows and upper body partially on the riser stage and leans into my direction watching me like a Hawk as I played my guitar . So I'm in the process of playing a Jazzed Up version of Little Wing and I say to myself I hope the guy digs what I'm playing . When I get done playing the song he says to me "Did you finally get your guitar in tune "? Kenny

Yep ! If I had access to a fully functional Time Machine I would go back to my first guitar lesson . When my teacher asks me what music do I want to learn to play on the guitar I would still answer him what I told him back then . I want to learn how to play Secret Agent Man . This time when he says no we are not here for that and hands me a Clarinet Melodic Studies Book with the Mickey Baker Jazz Guitar Book I will then set the Time Machine into the edit mode , erase his memory and have him brainwashed by using modern A I . Then he would be convinced with out a shadow of a doubt that he wrote the song Secret Agent Man and that I was only there to carry on with spreading the gospel of his music and songwriting . Kenny -
When they do I can take all the things I learned about music & music production and bring my knowledge back with me to the past . I would then be able to spare myself all the mistakes and rabbit holes I willingly dived head first with out a clue into . Yep ! And when I'm not doing my music I will be checking out some of the girls I used to know . Kenny

I have 10 years worth on my music on my Soundcloud page . Most of my time on S.C. for about 8 years was as a paying Pro customer . After missing a couple of months I went to go back to the Pro plan and over a short period of time they wanted twice what I had been paying for the whole previous 8 years of monthly membership fees ( non negotiable) Sure they have a right to run the business the way they see fit .Yet the audacity this company has thinking if I don't get with their agenda simply pisses me off . Having said that It would be safe for me to say I'm not seeing this the way most of the people here that are OK with this are seeing it . For what ever so posed security and peace of mind this way of signing seems to offer it is BS In My not so H.O. I would like to be given a plain and simple choice such as if I want to add their security fine if not let me take my chances . I am not being given a choice between complying and using the app / sign in process . As far as I'm concerned it goes a lot deeper than that for me . If I do not comply with this intrusion I will effectively become locked out from my acct and I will no longer be able to sign in and even edit my older songs and content from the previous 10 years ...let alone add something new . That process in effect means S C gets to hold my hard earned musical offerings as HOSTAGE . Anybody here remember PhotoBucket and the move they pulled ? Yep That was another take it or leave it company move that literally ruined things for every thread and online post where Photobucket was involved ? Kenny PS :This reminds me of a time in my youth when I was in Reform School during the hard winter Christmas season of 1856 . I was asked to chose what I wanted for my Christmas gift .I had to chose if I wanted to still receive my daily allotment of Becan . So YES I had to chose wisely . At the time my only 2 choices were a brand new sledgehammer for pounding rocks in the yard or a brand new shiny set of full body shackles ? I decided to escape and I eventually made off with the wardens daughter .After 8 years on the run we eventually received a pardon from Honest Abe .... This story contained is the PS was spoken to honor the immortal words of Pinocchio. Whom after telling his side of the story said to his wife ! " Yes dear I'm coming to bed now that I got my nose ready for action"

Jeremy Oakes ! According to your post it seems this process is no biggie for you .I do appreciate you taking the time to share you thoughts and feelings about this topic ? I used to enjoy social media , buying software on line, sharing / posting tunes and making contacts with people I may never meet in real life ... Those days seem over for me now because the overall general vibe of the internet and how these big companies talk a big game and don't respect a persons right to privacy nor do they allow a person to maintain their personal autonomy ... In a nutshell, I am absolutely fed up with the amount of overreach Goggle and many of the online social media companies have been trying to force down my throat all these years..... all in the name of trying to protect me.... ( Yeah Right )..... I think maybe " these powers that be " should just cut to the chase and put an implant of a butt bar code reader on my keister . This way they can scan and run a DNA test on everything I have drank and eaten as it leaves my body ... Who knows maybe in 6 months they may even offer me a loyalty upgrade and give my 2 boys a motion detector to keep track of their libido . Kenny

Why Music Recording Had Advantages Before DAWs
kennywtelejazz replied to kitekrazy1's topic in The Coffee House
I have been so conflicted about the role The DAW has played in my musical life . Overall it's nice to have a DAW but The DAW been such a major time suck with me trying to catch up and crest multiple learning curves that seem to change every time a DAW has a major version upgrade . On many levels this BS does not help my music . How would you like it if I took your guitar and changed the strings to heavy gauge strings just before your performance ? What about me hoping on stage and switching your right handed guitar over to a lefty guitar ? or hows about me taking your rows of keyboards and changing all the notes and sounds from black keys to white keys and all the white key notes and sounds to black keys ? Before I got involved in recording with a DAW I had been striving to play my chosen instrument with my feet firmly planted on a pathway to achieving a personal virtuoso level . I used to listen listen listen , play play play and try to emulate the musicians I resonated with . I did my best to copy and learn from them ... I'm not gonna drop any names here ....FWIW it seems like a lifetime ago and Yet I did get a little respect and get taken under a few great players wings ? For the record I am grateful to have a DAW but in the end I wish I hadn't wasted all the time I eventually did dicking around with it .The same goes for social media I'm just not gonna pucker up and get on my knees just to get people to listen too me? I have gone full circle and my guitar playing comes first . I treat The DAW as a beefed up tape recorder and I wont waste my time sitting here trying to look up the horses AZS trying to figure out why my cart is not moving because the horse belongs in front of the cart not behind the cart .... I'm glad I caught this musical performance while having my morning coffee this fine morning .It brought me back to how I feel about musicians that can actually play . I don't care what genre music is in . If it's good it's good . Apparently these 2 don't need a whole bunch of cwap to sound good . ?
