One would think that after all the books, stories, etc. of issues with machine control limitations, the creatirs of these commercial products would take such in consideration. A simple over-ride on power outtages?
Shame on you corporate semi-humans...

Very sorry for your loss.

It's got to be something that's tricky to fix. There was a lot of work done on zooming a year or so back which improved things a lot, especially with folders, but this just seems to be the last hold out.
That said, for me it's more of an irritation than a show stopper and I'm glad Articulation maps and Arranger tracks and that kind of thing got the attention lately - that's making a BIG difference to my workflow. Hopefully the lanes zoom will get a look in soon.
I agree on all counts.?
I simply post reminders of this topic whenever I get bugged enough... ?
I don’t use or need the articulation maps at the moment. I haven’t had much need and always found ways to deal with it, but I see the value and glad to have the feature. Personally I was pleased with the disable button for display muted clips.
Arranger tracks I don’t need as I find it simple to do this with the other tools available, but again... good feature to have available.

Throwing in my usual +1 to this.
Thanks Tim...
I'm always surprised that more people aren't disturbed by this as it's such a constant in-your-face kinda thing.

Yeah. Absolutely. We need the same height for the lanes with the track when we zoom.
As a workaround I use different shortcuts for different heights to achieve this with the Autohotkey.
If you want to use it, you can change the shortcuts to your needs by changing the script or also you can load the exe file directly.Shortcuts:
z & x : 1 bar (minimum) height.
z & c : 2 bar height.
z & v : 3 bar height.
z & b : 4 bar height.
z & d : 5 bar height.
z & f : 6 bar height.
z & g : 7 bar height.
z & e : 8 bar height.
z & r : Full Height and a lane.
z & t : Full Height
z & Space : 1.5 bar height (I use that in the PRV for the note height)
z & a : 1.25 bar height (I use that in the Drum Grid Pane for the note height)Zoom Track Heights.ahk 1020 B · 0 downloads Zoom Track Heights.exe 1.21 MB · 0 downloads

An interesting approach/work around. Still too fidgety to satisfy me. There was a time with Layers where it was as simple as zooming tracks with Lanes not visible. WYSIWYG... i should get a full screen-area display of the area I select in respective zoom.
This must be very difficult to implement as it’s been a topic since day 1 of silverlight and Lanes.
My associated discomfort with the parent track imaging is another issue. I don't want to see the parent track promoted clip images while editing Lanes. I find it very uncomfortable for my eye always getting confused. I wish they would simply add a switch to enable/disable such. I can easily see my selected clips by highlight/dim status.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... It's me again. With one of my classic issues...
Zooming Multiple Tracks With Lanes
If I zoom-select two or more tracks Instead of getting both tracks with their respective lanes within the zoom, I get a zoom of only one Parent track track without any lanes let alone the second track included in the zoom.
Where is the logic for this?
When I do this to a single track with lanes displayed, it gives me a zoom of a large parent track and minimized lanes. While I'm not happy with this behavior at least I see the logic.
We could really use some more attention to these issues. This has been an issue since the introduction of Lanes. It has been addressed a tiny bit long ago, but is forever an in-my-face issue without resolve. I spend far too much time twiddling with lasso'd zooms to get what was once following my choices.

Thanks Bakers and Bandlabers!
You continue to advance, refine and improve on such a great device. My thanks once again!
Something came to mind about re-authorizations and I thought to ask.
Now that update and authorization are available within Cakewalk itself. Will an online machine automatically re-authorize if we continue to regularly use the program? Might this give you what you wish and remove regular users the involvement with re-authorizing?
Thanks again!

Almost anything you can buy today will be more than adequate. (Within reason: a 1.3GHz Atom-based tablet with 2GB of ram isn't going to cut it. But any reasonable laptop or desktop with 8GB ram and an SSD of some sort will get you there.)
I'm still running a 4-core i7-950 system with 12GB of ram that I built in 2010 (upgraded from win7 to win10 at some point), and I'm able to put together projects with 30-40 tracks of content (audio + fx and VSTi's). Yes, I freeze most of the tracks, but that's not a very big limitation.
Just be sure to get an audio interface of some sort (Focusrite Solo is a fine choice). Running a DAW on the onboard Realtek chipset that most machines have is just begging for 'hurt-me' problems.
Thanks John...
I kind of figured this. I’m just not used to spec'ing a minimalist machine.
So an i5 3Ghz 4 core with 8G RAM, would be a reasonable machine. I've always been too nervous of anything below an i7.
Ha already has a Presonus USB or some such which I know will be sufficient. He has a Presonus Studiolive 24 on his other
machine.

I have a friend with a pc setup for CbB which he leaves at his band's rehearsal space.
He wants to setup a small system at home just as a scratch pad of sorts. Few if any plugins and maybe a handful of audio tracks.
what is considered the lowest realistic specs for such a machine?
Thanks

I’m trying to install on a machine that once had both Sonar Plat and Cakewalk by Bandlab.
it is win7
the c drive was partitioned by asus when built with 4 partitions on this drive. Two of them being designated as C and D.
C no longer has enough space to run CbB so I installed an extra drive and thought I would delete the D partition, expand the C partition and relabel the new drive as D. But I've been stopped at every turn. I can’t delete the D partition. I resized it to minimum but I cannot expand the C partition?
So I next opted to install CbB on the D partition but 3 attempts to install (only allows me to redirect cakewalk core) fail during an attempt to install some version of TH3 due to insufficient drive space? What's going on here? What does the old TH3 have to do with a new install?
The D partition has approx 500M free space?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty Impressive.
Some very cool presets to start with. Very nice quality. It reminds me of the surprise when first using a DX7 ?
Gonna take a bit of use to get used to it's controls. I've got a basic grasp of the ui, but not a complete picture of how this thing creates it's sounds.

I haven't taken Proteus VX back out of my scan path and would be willing to try it if someone can provide steps on how to convert it to a rewire application. Reading the Reference Guide provided no clues that I could see for converting plug-ins to rewire applications.
UPDATE: For what its worth, I just found an old thread about the Proteus VX (and other E-Mus) in a previous forum. There are other threads there, too.
No. You don’t convert the plugin. The OP said that there is a standalone version that does work. Rewire that!

Might it be possible to run the standalone as a rewire device? I know that's a stretch.

This has been an ongoing issue since the very first release.
While I'm grateful and pleased with the continued development of Cake, The installer issues have have been continuous.
Bandlab assistant always fails it’s own updates requiring a fresh download/install.
The progress bar can not be trusted. Sometimes it works fine and other times takes very long times to download and gets stuck without completion successful or not. I don’t know what the issues are, but it scares me at every update on every machine/os. It is not only win10. I suffer it on win8.1 and some of my students have the same on win7.
I keep hoping for a major revision on this system soon! I miss Cakewalk Command Center?

Also note that most manufacturers require you to setup an account and include access to their' forums. Thanks ou need not use the forums.
As to installs? Bandlab Assistant is their' download manager. Tiny with little if any time/attention to install. It offers many tools other than that should you ever chose to use them.

...Just a thought.
It would likely be very handy to have a discrete Volume Slider for each Lane...

By your description, I'm not following. If you take a video of the behavior, I"m happy to chime in. I do a ton of zooming in and out and don't have too many frustrations with it. So maybe my workflow is just different. But I'd like to understand
Hi Josh. I can’t make a vid at the moment but some instances are easy to see. Open Lanes on two adjacent tracks and try to zoom lanes (use zoom lasso) from both simultaneously. Or a simpler version. Zoom a small area of a few lanes on a track that has many lanes.
Thanks for looking into this.

I bought into Cakewalk when it came on a 3.5 inch floppy disk and I loaded it onto a Huge 40mb hard drive. But I've been using the current lanes for so long I could not remember how layers worked. So I opened SONAR 8 (which seems to run very well on this W10 machine) and reminded myself of the difference between lanes and layers.
@Keni, you can now consider me a convert to your cause. The way layers are displayed in SONAR 8 should definitely be an option in CbB. I know less than nothing about writing code so maybe it's not something that can be done easily. If that is the case it would be nice if the bakers would just say so. You have been complaining about this for a long time and the silence from their end has been deafening.
Thanks Base57.
Nice to find another believer. Mind you know though I would love that, I no longer even try to fight it. There are many new features they've added to Lanes that are not available with Layers and are important in many other situations. I’m only trying to regain what was lost and it's mostly two items. These zoom issues and the display of promoted clips on the track while Lanes are visible. You can see I've again posted that in a separate thread.
The zoom issue is by far the more important, but the promoted clips issue I don't think difficult to implement.
These issues have been all-day/night difficulties for me since silverlight and Lanes. How many years?
Not headline grabbing new features, but incredibly settling and fulfilling to many users!

Does anyone else ever edit Lanes in more than one track simultaneously?
Try to zoom a few lanes on both tracks simultaneously and tell me what you get?

Yeah... I’m sorry I started getting carried away in my zoom thread about this. They are very related.
This is simple. Please.
Some way to disable promoted clip view on track while Lanes are open.
This is always so frustrating for me.. I'm looking at a screen of mixed tracks/lanes and having an image on the track simultaneously with it's Lanes displayed. The additional track image is totally cluttering in a very confusing manner.
Maybe a simple switch to enable/disable the image?
Thanks

I can't duplicate this.
However, I do find it annoying that Zoom expands all of the lanes in a track.
You just did! You tried to expand specific lane(s) portions and instead got something else!
I guess if that's what you’re used to, you might not think of it but many of us old timers remember when this was not the case. An area zoomed is what you got.
As for the "promoted" track image. I doubt there's anyone out there who hasn’t had their eyes confused looking at multiple tracks of Lanes with the extra promoted/track simultaneously!

Not only difficult to download, but a bit confusing to download and install to me.
It looks interesting, but I get distortion with it no matter what I've tried.
Hmmm. Just thought to try increasing the latency. I forgot that.
