David . . . nice bit of synth bass bop, particularly liking that cat splat synth at the end . . . yes, that's where my stocks went as well . . .

Nice one Jesse, you've done something interesting here with the vocals and the melody that catches my ear, and some sonically interesting effects along the way . . . perhaps you could have expanded the song format a bit longer, but you may be on to the next one already. I'm not sure how to interpret the lyric . . . dark, or optimistic, so maybe that's the thing I like about it.

Hi Lee . . . another good one, yes, those lyrics really hit home . . . and lyrically could be written anywhere in the last 5 decades, same news reports over and over. It's a very thick mix, but you've got the message and those great vocals very clear throughout. Always like your stuff posted here !

Wookiee thread with vocals ! . . . now, I just had to click on that. Nice mix, super clarity, and you sing pretty good for a wookiee . . . singing through your paws I think, this track totally works for me, like the melody, the piano thing, and your backup singers are awesome. Just think the drums could have rocked or swang a bit more ?

Closing Cakewalk Causes Kernal Corruption
noynekker replied to Jerry Gerber's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Jerry . . . do you have a startup template for every project that has some things preloaded ? . . . ie. what happens if you start a brand new blank project, from the Normal template, type in a few midi notes, and close Cakewalk right away, does it still do it ? You could also do the same test, and record a bit of audio. (if you even use audio) Just to narrow down the causes. Or, does this only happen on your larger projects ? -
OK got it now . . . the trick is to not actually click the play button ? (just spins), click on the name of the song. Great sounding jazz piece, perhaps the streaming volume a bit low, I did turn it up a lot it seems, compared to others, but like this one a lot. "Test with jazz stems from internet- headphone mix v1+testing plugins...freq & balance check..." ?? what are we / you testing ?

hmmm . . . link not working right now

Bats Brew . . . this sounds majestic and powerful, very anthemic . . . bring on the spring, blow out the cobwebs ! You have amazing control of those guitars and effects, the harmony and bending of the electric lead parts sounds incredible. Just great stuff (as per always) . . . thanks for continuing to post it here for us all.

Really well done Bjorn . . . instruments blend together perfectly, like you knew what you were doing. Now, with a name like Bjorn you're probably not from Scotland, but you have so captured that sound with authenticity, very admirable composition skills . . . and yes, I enjoyed it very much, relaxing at the end of the day. I hope the O'Groats family gets to hear this .

Thank you Douglas, I am still in awe of the guitar parts Mark came up with for this one . . . he is a fine player with a super creative approach. Glad you enjoyed it.

Appreciate the listen and comment Andy . . . and very interesting it sounded live to you, I think most recordings I do are meant to sound like a band is playing it, though, many of the newer ones don't have a live band actually playing it.

David, this really takes me back to my music college days, a time when life was much simpler . . . I just don't listen to classical orchestrations enough these days, and I enjoyed this piece a lot . . . yes, I wanted it to be longer . . . but that's all Torroba wrote I guess. Your mix and rendition are excellent here.

David . . . such a nice comment, wow . . . thank you so much !

Nice input Tom, glad you liked it . . . I think I hear what you're alluding to in the first verse, very subtle, but I'll monkey with the timing there a bit. Mucho Rubato, just channeling my inner Sinatra ? I did add some 500hz to Mark's bass part, but I think you're suggesting more volume or more lows ? Thanks for the mix suggestions.

Thanks Bjorn for having a listen . . . and your positive comment !

Smoothly strummed, upbeat, interesting FX . . . so cool when old projects get rescued from the past . . . if this is the last from "Regeneration", hope you have another one in the works ?

Outstanding track Glenn . . . very interesting, unique and different, like how you laid down a rhythm without the traditional drum kit, and that middle solo section really bends the mind, with the panned efx, especially on my headphone listen. Great stuff, liked the lyrics a lot as well.

Another one very well done Douglas . . . got a great chorus going in this one. Always a top notch recording with you . . . edgy guitars that really work, and the drum recording / mixing is spot on . . . somehow you get those crash cymbals sounding very natural and balanced.
-
Super tune Keith ! . . . and an interesting recording, really like the way you've panned things around. The way you double tracked the vocals works pretty good in this one, I liked the vocals a lot, it does come across that you had some fun singing this.
-
Jack . . . smooth + relaxed groove, a great listen !

Hey, you gotta' be good to be lucky !

Thanks for all the great comments folks ! @garybrun . . . I do have a darker mix of this, but it seemed to be missing the mid range 1K, might have brought in too much, hard to say, still comparing on different listening systems. @Wookiee . . . that's a great compliment for a first time listen ! @DeeringAmps . . . Tom, your clapping is much appreciated @jack c. . . . thanks for listening, and positive comment @Johnbee58 . . . John, great compliments, thanks for the listen.

Hey Cakewalkers . . . so this one started out a few years back, just strumming around the campfire on acoustic guitar, which I then recorded when getting home from the camp trip. It sat around quite a while in my studio . . . recently, I sent the acoustic track over to fellow Cakewalk forum member Mark Alan Skinner, who came up with some super creative guitar tracks (panned left & right), we also came up with a bass guitar part, which he played on his Ibanez. I pulled some vocals from deep inside . . . distant memory of a high school love. Thanks Mark, for your help making this old dream come true . . . as always, let us know if the mix (and song idea) translates out there . . .

Mark . . . what great art you've made here in this one . . . the opening plucked parts are so playful, painting the sand pipers darting in and out of the waves . . . and when the cello enters, for me it evokes a somewhat emotional feeling of longing. Maybe that's just me, but some of my favourite classical music has that ability to be beautiful and painful all at the same time, depending how you interpret as a listener. There's a part around 2:33 where you add either some extra delay or reverb to the cello, in a rising melody . . . really liked that effect, and got me thinking there were a few other places in the piece where you could do that to add some depth and ambience. Enjoyed my many listens so much !

Hi John . . . I'm a liker of this one ! So many interesting moments along the way, great instrumental surprises . . . I actually found this very theatrical in it's presentation, like something you would hear in a musical stage production.
