David Bendeth compressor . . . I recall that from years ago, was it a pro channel add on, or just a regular plugin ? Anyways, I also recall it was very pricey, so didn't bite, you've used it very effectively here !

Great sounding piece, crisp recording, excellent vocals, enjoyed it very much ! . . . thanks for posting here.

Metal masterpiece guys ! Comes complete with glissando synth, totally works here. Also, shout outs for that low growly vocal harmony, not overdone, but so effective. Those are some cool protest lyrics, makes me want to kick something, but I got neighbours, and can only enjoy in the safety of headphones, for now . . . Great stuff.

Truly hypnotic groove Mark . . . this one will be top of my listening list for quite a while ! Really like the separation you got between the left and right guitars, leaving so much room in the middle. The kick may be a bit distracting on headphones, but it seems perfect on smaller speakers, and I think it's essential to be up front as an overall rhythmic drum hook, just like in the original. Myself, I would probably have played with some of the kick accent volumes to take it down a bit in a few places (intro ?), more like Mick. For the vocal chorus harmony "Got me Hypnotized" . . . the original has that little higher note turn in the higher harmony, then goes down a step. On my first listen to your version, something sounded different there, so I had to go listen to the original. Either way, your more laid back version works great, and granted those high notes are female vocals, so you've totally made your version your very own. Most impressive guitar licks and smooth vocals all through this, your brother had a very good idea !

Great piece Wookiee . . . and I'm appreciating the audio recording here as well, how your bass arp has such clarity, without sounding muddy. I imagined how a symphonic orchestra might do this, as the horns suggested this to me. Enjoyed my listen very much !

FIXED!!! Another Song Crash on Export to wave.
noynekker replied to Max Arwood's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I had an issue with instant crash on export recently as well. In another thread here, Noel Borthwick suggested turning off "plugin flushing" before export in the preferences. Here's a link to that thread, not saying it will fix your issue . . . but I haven't had an export crash since I disabled this. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/50209-is-it-me-or-a-bug-with-cakewalk-export-audio/ -
Great job Andy ! I remember this song, you've done a grand version of it . . . just bring those shy vocals up a tad ? Guitar solo is excellent, such fun was had ? This was a classic song back in the day, you've really captured it well ! Thanks for posting it here.

Most enjoyable Sunday night listen, warm and melodic, great sax parts . . . really laid back and well conceived !

Hi Ken . . . really liked this one, vocals are great, with that doubled low growl accompaniment, excellently mixed and recorded. The guitar solo caps the whole piece off, though, I found the transition back to verse after it sounded like a sudden engineered volume turn down, instead of a musical transition, just what I heard. I also really like both the intro and the outro, very creative, and unpredictable. Overall a quality piece and well written song !

Is it me, or a bug ? with Cakewalk Export Audio

Hi bitflipper . . . thanks for that. Fxpansion sold BFD3 to InMusic Corp . . . so not sure if they intend to develop or fix issues. -

Is it me, or a bug ? with Cakewalk Export Audio
noynekker replied to noynekker's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Hi Will, to simply replace, the only other drum synths I have is the Cakewalk Session Drummer, and some Kontakt sets . . . and they fall well short in capabilities compared to something like BFD3 . . . it's like having intricate control of a fully mic'd real kit, when you don't have room in your tiny studio. I do have FabFilter EQ, Cake Adaptive Limiter, and Craig Anderton KickMaster in the FXbin, and have used those for many years before this Export issue appeared, somewhere around the time they updated the Export module. -

@Noel Borthwick . . . Hi Noel, thanks for the tweak . . . I'll surely give that a try, and report back here. Here's a WeTransfer Link with a few recent dumps if you want to have a look: https://we.tl/t-AqW3hX3CIR -
Fourteen Years (original song and animation)

Great sounding piece with smooth flowing synth wash . . . You know the vocal sounds like Jim Morrison (The Doors) , intentional ? Or maybe you just got natural swagger If you're going for the "chill out" sound, that works for me, except on my headphone listen there's a regularly occurring high pop crackle sound in the percussion that takes some of my chill away, but overall I certainly enjoyed watching and having a listen. -

@bitflipper I found your suggestion very interesting, so I installed Windbg, and loaded the recent minidump files to analyze. It found an exception . . . so I clicked to analyze that exception and it came up pointing to my BFD3 drum synth . . . hmmmm . . . maybe the results pasted below will mean more to you, but either way, BFD3.dll appears to be the culprit , , , so what next, reinstall ? live with the crashes ? contact the new giant corporation that assimilated BFD3 ? ask on the BFD3 forum if there are any Cakewalk users having this issue ? Is it me, or a bug ? with Cakewalk Export Audio
noynekker replied to noynekker's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Hi Will, thanks for responding . . . I would never have thought a plugin might cause this, since the track plays and sounds fine . . . and as I mentioned, it happened on a very simple project with just a drum synth and a bass guitar synth, a few FabFilter EQ's . . . stock stuff I use frequently . . . but, I tried bitflipper's suggestion below , and it may be BFD3 drum module. -
Hey Nigel . . . FYI, the drum programming here is BFD3 Thanks for having a listen !

I seem to keep getting this issue happening, I keep causing Cakewalk to crash instantly when exporting to audio. Doesn't happen all the time, but a lot, and I think it might be me, something I'm doing that breaks the code ? I just want to make a new version of my mix, so I click File, Export . . . and in the "Filename and Location" box, I give it the new name . . . click on the right settings I want, click Export, instant crasho ! I look in the folder, and it has created a 4k file with the name I gave it. So I re-open Cakewalk and try exactly the same thing again, and select that 4k file, click Export . . . it asks me to Overwrite, I say OK, and it works as expected. Tonight, I was working on a very lightweight project when this Export issue happened again . . . so it made me wonder. Hopefully, I have described this clear enough, has anybody else run into this at all ?
-
@mark skinner @KSband Thanks for the positive feedback, much appreciated ! Yes Mark, I hear what you mean about the vocal EQ, a little too thick in the bottom, and I also listened on some different systems today and concluded the Kick really needs more definition in the mix, a certain higher mid frequency to help it punch through, I think the overall drum feel would be better . . . so still working it some more.
-
Steve . . . another great sounding cover . . . guess this one was never a huge hit parade thing, I don't think I've ever heard it, but your version is excellent, including that 60'ish horn section, Burt Bacharachish and all. Enjoyed it in my retro brain very much !

Nigel . . . super interesting piece, particularly liked the mannequin image in the video, and the drum and instrument rhythm of the Bridge section was an excellent change up musically.

Bapu, your son has really created a great orchestral mood here, most impressive and thoroughly enjoyable ! . . . now, that sudden ending just makes me yearn for the sequel to this one . . .

Nice one David ! . . . I'm thinking the "inner logic" will be different for everyone who watches and listens to this. It certainly kept my interest, lots of interesting visuals. Musically, I like the groove, easy going, starts in the country, then city, dancing . . . sonically, maybe the organ melody needs some ambience around it ? Haven't seen you around these parts for a while, nice to hear you're still making some cool music.

Hey Everyone . . . something I've been tinkering with recently . . . a bit different for me, since I had lyrics completed first (guess we just call that a poem) then built a vocal + song + chord structure afterwards, poof, a song . . . let me know if it needs more tinkering ?

The expression in your guitar playing here is simply remarkable Mark. You ever listen to Ray Charles ? . . . I think your voice is able to wrench out the blues much like his, even a bit edgier. And much appreciation here for your jazzy piano stylings, bang on, really adds to the whole atmosphere of this piece. Now, just don't mess with this mix too much
