Hi Mark . . . you've sure got those acoustic guitars recorded very well in this one, never hear the song before, so for me it just sounds like you ! Great vocals, and like the way the drums are balanced into the mix, just the right hint of kick, when it gets going. A thing I noticed listening along on headphones was around 3:20 there's a "HEY" which sounds kind of over compressed, and phases a bit . . . just sounds a bit electronic in an otherwise totally organic recording. Always look forward to what you're up to, never ceases to amaze.

Introducing Cakewalk Next and our new brand identity

Catch 22 . . . After I replace my old dual monitors with dual 4K monitors to actually utilize the vector advantage, there won't be a lot of cash left to pay for a DAW. -

So, will there be any Staff View updates ? Sorry, had to ask . . . I'll get me coat . . . -
Hi Paul, another great creative song here ! . . . you've really got an excellent interplay with the guitar and vocals going back and forth in this one, and some interesting chord changes. Always a fan of your vocal delivery, just enjoyable to listen to, and you really lean into your electric guitar in this one. with a great tone. When you mention the timing issues, it's usually all about the drums . . . and it occurred to me if the kick drum had way more bottom, it wouldn't be as obvious in certain sections . . . audio psychoacoustic phenomenon, the ears hear the low end differently. Just my opinion that the drums should occupy the whole audio spectrum, but your drum mix seems only concentrated in the very middle. The harmonies and lead vocals reveal a lot of work went into this, and I look forward to your more polished master mix version.

Is "Cronus" - V Vocal plugin no longer supported ?
noynekker replied to noynekker's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Hi scook . . . we always defer to your expertise, thanks for the DX correction, can you offer a solution for this most recent post here ? If he has X1 installed, shouldn't the CbB install migrate everything ? -
Is "Cronus" - V Vocal plugin no longer supported ?

Make sure the "cronus.dll" is in the VST scan path / folder for CbB, in preferences, so it can find it. -
Wow Lynn ! (and Markno999) what an incredible project collaboration you've done here, loved every moment of this, headphones and speakers. Lynn, your projects here I recall as usually very guitar based, but this collaboration seems to add a different dimension to your writing skills with some sample (keyboard) textures, I'm thinking that is the Markno999 contribution ? Also, I think this is the clearest I've heard your vocals recorded, every word / lyric very clear. Much admiration for the ending / outro section where you start echoing the vocal textures. Simply brilliant overall, but FYI the hook that mostly grabbed my ear was the keyboard riff after the vocal lines "the sun finally set on my dreams" and "remember the sun on your skin" . . . so well done, and top notch pro recording.

Well done John, the background bird ambience and the flutes work most effectively . . . yes, most amazing sampled flute sounds I've heard, interesting blend of technology and nature you've accomplished here !

@KSband Very enjoyable, and a great recording, sax is very breathy and smooth sounding . . . nice change ups throughout ! You have the instruments very out front, I wonder if the drum kit needs a nudge . . . I hear hand percussion blending in very well, but the kit seems in the outback. Great Friday night listen for me, certainly helps take the edge off a long week, merci beaucoup from Canada !

Hey Everybody . . . thanks so much for your support of this project, appreciate the great and helpful comments . . . @Paul Bush by now you know I'm an 80's fan, just like you, for me, mostly English bands back then . . . thanks for compliments on the guitar tone, never was much of a lead player, just a strum whacker @Jesse Screed thanks for having a listen, and positive comments "radio ready" . . . you got a radio station that would still play this stuff ? @jack c. I'm happy you're happy with it, appreciated @KSband thanks for the voice comment, the singing voice emerged from the need for songwriting @bjornpdx I'm such a fan of your creative projects, glad you think the orchestra worked on this one @Lynn Wilson thank you sir ! And I always look forward to the many "polished" pieces you post here @mark skinner always appreciate your creativity and support for my stuff . . . and since you asked, my guitar set up is ancient and simple. Electric guitars are always on my Gibson Epiphone, using a Korg A3 Processor . . . it's a hardware rack mount that has a 6 effect chain possibility, 1 mono dry direct out, and 2 wet stereo outs. The Epiphone has lock nuts, so I can make full use of the whammy bar, which I had great fun with in this one ! FX EQ added was Fabfilter , lows cut, mid accentuated 300hz to 2k, highs above 4k rolled off substantially. @freddy j Most appreciative of your great review of my song ! (And glad you mentioned there's a message here) @treesha Thank you for listening in, and your comments about vocals . . . when you say it sounds "professional" well, I'll let you know I learned how to do audio right here on this Cakewalk forum, over many years. @AndyB01 Thank you for "enjoying the listen" great to hear from another 80's fan ! (Thanks also for all the listens you've had over the past few years, really helps!) @whoisp I didn't use an "orchestra bus" . . . but what a great suggestion . . . I was just panning the orchestra parts in this one to get clarity above that driving bass line. Maybe you want that guitar to come in sooner, or a few introduction guitar notes, over the pizzicato . . . @DeeringAmps I always feel much better when I see your hand emojis on my cake thread ! and always glad for your listening . . . also, your comments on my Soundcloud channel, thank you so much !

Great listen Bjorn . . . your musicality shines once again, it's a cool wall of sound, c/w lush guitar thickness . . . just lightly riding that whammy bar off into the horizon . . . (oops, maybe a gentler fade ending)
-
Great stuff Freddy ! Really like your vocals on this one, lots of character there, and well written horns. You got a catchy reminiscent guitar lick in there which works very well . . . hey, the intro is about 1/3rd of the whole song . . . so, technically it's called an overture, LOL
-
Always fascinated by the sound of a rock band playing with a symphony orchestra in the back, so I tried to do that here. By the time I added some vocals, a lot of the orchestral parts got mixed back, the rock band moves to front, so I'm still trying to get the mix right . . . let me know what you hear on this one.

Hey subvibe . . . great 1st post here, yes very laid back, great and smooth pop listen ! . . . I did wonder about the volume being quite low, compared to my other listens tonight, and I'm not familiar with "Audio Station" that you're using, seems it defaults to 50% volume ? Anyways, once I cranked the volume, well, you've captured an interesting and chilled back recording here, especially liked the thick synth wash sounds, enjoyed it very much !
-
Very cool piece Treesha . . . an excellent sonic painting, enjoyed on headphones and speakers . . . you've certainly captured a feeling of stress and uneasiness, sounds modal, not tonal . . . did you intend that, or did it just work out that way ? Either way, really like the different feeling it evokes.
-
Nicely done ! . . . does it come with an Elvis or Andy Kaufman vocal emulation ?, LOL . . . yes, I actually really enjoyed this, reminded me of a fun radio commercial advertisement I heard recently . . . but for musical theatre you could really do some cool things with this !
-
Hey Mark . . . another fab creation from the southern stringmeister ! . . . amazing guitar work, you always deliver the goods. Really enjoyed this, it's very catchy, the piano gives a jazz combo feel, but the Monterey eventually steals the show. You really hit every fret on this one ! How many guitars do you actually have, not sure we've heard this one before ? (that's a nice looking guitar, you shouldn't just leave it laying in the leaves like that)
-
Hi Dean . . . I was actually referring to a musical style . . . the bolero (not the dance style) "Boléro, one-movement orchestral work composed by Maurice Ravel and known for beginning softly and ending, according to the composer's instructions, as loudly as possible." . . . but glad you had a good laugh
-
Hey Candy Man . . . really enjoyed this ! . . . rocking bolero building thing that it is. Certainly is great at keeping a listener's interest with all you have going on, the way you introduce different instruments is quite effective, element of surprise, and love the guitar work. Did you ever play with a band called Kansas, maybe a fan ? Ha, reminded me of them a lot. Again, super enjoyable listen !
-
Really enjoyed this . . . all the way through ! The guitar really sings it out, and some excellent vocals and BG's . . . "back seat of my car" indeed.
-
Lots to like here Lynn ! Interesting, swirling and evolving as it goes, cool sound effects panned all round, you've really experimented in the audio recording here. (Yes, I think you always do) I found the verse chord progression very different, and really like the way it chromatically bends my ear. Also, enjoyed your guitar playing and effects that you use there. The ending, hmmm. sounds like someone pulled the power plug. maybe that's what you intended . . . to tie in the lyrics . . . though, I kinda' wish "musically", maybe an explosion, or edgy sound effect might have wrapped it up it better. As always, just a great inspiring listen !
-
Liking this one Wayne ! . . . you've got a good pop voice, and nicely intertwined with those alternating electric guitar melodies . . . nicely surprised when the strings came in, and totally works the way you've done it . . . glad to hear you posting here with your long white hair and all Looking forward to some more . . .
-
@treesha . . . I really enjoyed listening to this one . . . and agree with @Johnbee58 that it doesn't have an obvious genre, the harmonies are perhaps medieval sounding, but of course you've put it against an interesting and modern rhythm track, it's also a very sound audio recording, well done there . . . just very fascinating to my ears, thanks for posting it here !
-
Mark, a bit of a different collaboration here. You suggested your "Sunrise Funk" groove might possibly need a vocal, so I threw you an idea . . . and you totally ran with it, and created this whole authentic storyline. It was just amazing to watch it unfold into this great and fun song . . . your creativity always inspires me, and many others here I'm sure. Bruce

Paul, this one sounds great to my ears, it's a very well written song ! lots of different pieces that keep the interest . . . from your introduction at the top of the thread, sounds like you ran the gamut of feelings about it, but trust me, this one turned out really good. The harmonies really stand out, and I always love your lead vocals, you've also got a warm expressive and melodic sound to that lead guitar. If I were the drummer on this one (only in my dreams) I would be banging those toms a lot more, (hint, hint) Mix wise, the one thing I noticed was the 3rd chorus volume or intensity dips a bit. Also, it sounds like you were inspired by some of those same British bands I admire as well . . .
