Access violation and crash with Sonitus effects
Terry Kelley replied to rev's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I use the Sonitus delay a lot. I was looking through my Melda stuff and a delay isn't part of their free/limited package. -
I notice that when I go to select measures for punch-in/copy, etc. , there isn't any highlighting in the tracks below until you set both markers. At that point the shadow shows up. It would be nice if just selecting a measure point (start or stop) would have a line that goes down through the tracks so we can accurate position the markers. Once the shadow does appear you check if you got it right but any adjust doesn't change the shadow position until you release the mouse button - if that makes any sense. I'll try a short video to demonstrate. It would be similar to the Now marker line that extends down through the tracks. I did read through the manual to see if there was some setting but didn't find anything in the marker sections of the various functions.

No audio unless whole project in solo
Terry Kelley replied to Michael Reynolds's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I am on the latest version ( 015.) A buddy tried to play a song I did on this newest version and just ran into this problem. He had to update to 015 to get it to play without soloing. His version was a couple of months old and I asked him to try and remember. All he remembers is is was a a June version. This implies the newest version is creating files the older versions can't read correct. He had the exact same issue as the OP. -

Up above the track list is Options. In there is Track Manager. -
My understanding is that CW will update recent only on a successful program project/ file close. A crash isn't a close. I recall reading they already understood this. Maybe I'll submit it as a feature change at some point. Edit, I should have said project/file close, not program.
-
Right, if I was using versioning I could do that. What I want is for any file that is save to be placed in the recent window and not be dependent on a successful exit of the program to show up. I can save the file, have Cakewalk crash and it won't be in the recent window. Minor and not worth pursuing.

The only reservation I have about Auto-Save is that I am trying to avoid losing some work. When it saves isn't tied to what I am doing so I just got in the habit of saving before I change or add something. If there is a crash I can just go back to that last save. And you can save while it's playing in case terror strikes you after you hit the spacebar. I do wish the last save before the crash was in the recent file screen. It appears I have to exit CW nicely (not crash) for it to show up. I figure that if I saved it, odd are I would want to recall it first thing in most instances. Not a big deal though - I just have to find it via Existing.

Not me! I love the punishment! Hurt me TTS - hurt me! Ok, yeah, I tend to veer away from TTS-1 for the most part but there are some sounds that I like to use. I'll freeze as soon as I can. I don't recommend anyone using TTS or even speaking it's name.

I've developed muscle memory to do a ALT-F-S or CTRL-S very often. I will add a letter or number to the file if I need to keep an older version. Anytime I am about to try something I know will likely crash, I save a version. It's fast and it's free. I won't touch V-Vocal, TTS-1 or Sonitus Reverb without saving first and then I save often as I work through it.

I switched to Solocontutti.

Virtually new install - TTS-1 missing already!

There are a couple of things still available that often just don't work at some point. If they could fix them, they would. There is a time when you have to just move on. -
Do you care if it throws the tempo/beat/measure off or do you just want it added for the export? I usually do some post processing in Cool Edit like adding some empathy silence. Adding that via Cakewalk could be useful but adding "time" could have some effects to the timing.

Some of you folks would bitch if you were hung with a new rope.

I use MyDrive and save them locally. Wave, MP3, 4-bit Atari, whatever.

How to muffle/soften a TTS-1 instrument?

Do you have any way to fashion a rudimentary lathe? -
How do you know when a plugin doesn't handle64 bit correctly? Crash? Noise? Bad results?

It sounds AWESOME right up until they explain it.

More info is needed. Does cakewalk even see it? And if so, what is happening that is the issue?

Check out AZ Web. It’s the basics but works . https://www.azslow.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=41 https://www.azslow.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=downfile&id=41

Try selecting the tracks you want to change and then press CTRL, hold it and change one of the tracks. This works to change multiple tracks at once for many parameters. See if it works for your change.

Well ok then.

Does winning or losing the KVR contest matter to ANYONE?

Sez you can't vote for freeware.

I recall Noel saying there was some architecture challenge (or limitation) to doing this. I agree, it would be nice. It might be on their to-do list though.

At least rule out that the CPU is not overheating and throttling. Get something like Core Temp. You have to eliminate all possibilities. I had this issue on my laptop. And for some reason recording increased the CPU temp and it hit it's limit and I started getting static. Just a thought.
