UVI Introducing Augmented Choirs - Pristine voices reimagined
Vernon Barnes replied to cclarry's topic in Deals
I have the Sonic Pass sub so I downloaded it last night. I only had time for quick run through some of the presets. First impressions are it sounds good, there is a faur bit of variaty and importantly will be useful. -
Mmmm. I quite fancied this one but the price was too high. Even now it's not cheap but it's a awful lot of synth for the money. Tempted.

Free Upgrade - Ample Guitar V4 with Guitar promotion
Vernon Barnes replied to Jason Morin's topic in Deals
I think Amplesound has more potential if you can get to grips with riffer but you have to be able to think like a guitarist to get the best from it. Both sound good, preferences depend on the individual guitars. -
I have not seen one of them sampled before, it looks interesting.

My first reaction was "another two oscillator mono synth" but having watched Tim Shoebridge's intro video and trying the demo I decided it has a lot of potential and bought it from JRR. The two signal paths open up a lot of options particularly with the envelope filter effect in FX section.

Roland Cloud Digital Polysynth Collection: 100$ off
Vernon Barnes replied to agosoiu's topic in Deals
Yeah, I bought the D50 last week, it's nice and unlike other synths I have. The others are not on my "to get" list but I would have probably gone for the bundle at the JRR price if I had waited. -

Looks like I can get it for $79 by upgrading my complete bundle. And I have some orange slices to bring it down further.

Good price for a versatile synth, but beware, you will be tempted to add more modules.

I don't think anyone's music has meant so much to me over the past 50+ years than as Dave Cousins, front man and primary song writer of the Strawbs who sadly died last week. RIP Dave and thanks for all the music. https://www.strawbsweb.co.uk/index0.asp

Don't think I would pay full price, but I have the email and I am tempted.

The only one I don't have is the Americana Autoharp, so I have signed up with that -
IK Multimedia Pianoverse Concert Grand YF3 for $29.99
Vernon Barnes replied to cclarry's topic in Deals
All individual Pianverse instruments are 29 Euros on IK's website. I bought a couple recently. -
I have not had an extensive play with it yet but on first impressions the instruments are better but you don't get the World Traveller stuff.

Installed. (I have the sub). There are some nice sounds in there on a quick run through.

Spaces is a goto for me, by far my most used reverb. Ghost Writer was the library that temped me to try the Composer Cloud sub. While it's very good I can't say it gets much use here. I came for Ghost Writer and stayed for the orchestras, choirs and pianos.
-
I will watch you video later, I have installed it from my CC sub and had a quick look and there is certainly more to it than meets the eye.
-
Downloading now. Larry beat the notification from Composer Cloud which has still not arrived. I am not sure I will find much use for this one, but I will keep an open mind.
-
That is a deal! I know some people are totally anti sub but this gives you access to a massive sound pallet. I have found libraries I would not have considered to be the most useful.

(Not a Deal) UVI Workstation Update - Now includes UVI Starter
Vernon Barnes replied to ZincT's topic in Deals
I installed 4.0 with the new browser and tags last week so probably not the "something big" they were teasing. For me the best thing about the new browser is it gets rid of the long time it was taking to load the library menu. The NKS style audio previews are pretty handy too. -
Well this update is a real PITA. After jumping through several hoops, despite migrating settings it needs content locations to be added manually and everything to be rescanned which took an age. It seems to be working OK once installed but I have not given it an extensive test. 90% of my drum work is in Toontrack these days and I don't see much to tempt me back to using BFD more.

Dreamtonics Synthesizer V Studio 2 pre-order offers
Vernon Barnes replied to audioschmaudio's topic in Deals
I will probably upgrade, but having to upgrade the voice will push the cost up a bit. I will have to investigate further. While don't envisage using it for a final vocal part I find it a valuable tool when writing and creating a guide vocal to send to a singer. Hopefully the new version will remove some of the clunkyness. -
I may have been a little harsh in my initial assessment. The architecture is pretty much a basic two VCO analogue emulation and while its a good sounding one with a bit of character its hardly ground breaking but GForce's Xmod additions to open it up a bit. I particularly like the additional resonant high pass filter which can be controlled by the XLfo or XADSR and has variable key tracking to get the kind of sounds I reach into Voltage Modular to achieve. Given what other options I have available I doubt I will buy it though at this price point.
-
I really like GForce, they make some of my favourite VSTis so I am trying out the demo version and it's not really doing it for me. It's probably a very good emulation which maybe my problem with it.

This is a really nice freebee. I was playing around with it last night and was immediatly inspired to start writing a new track in 7/8.
