  1. Hey, Ed (not Bapu), did you know Melodyne was on sale? ?

    No Sound

Output timing master is the output, natch. Recording TM is also self-explanatory, the input. Being computers, they have to be synched together, or 'timed' the same to work properly. For a beginner, those terms are irrelevant; just trust that in most cases, Cakewalk will set things up to work well, based on your hardware and processor's capabilities. As you progress, you can dig in and learn more about the innards of CbB and your computer, and why dithering at a different rate may be worthwhile and how a higher sampling rate may benefit you work.
  3. Thanks, Steverino and all. Yeah, another trip around the neighborhood, feels so good. Sixty-five today, got no time to play, I have to mow the lawn. Then ?
  4. I would first check each MIDI track's outputs and channels/patches, etc. to see if they go to the right place. i.e. your MIDI device and/or soft synths and that the audio is set up correctly for the soft synth outputs.
  5. Also, if the headphones are USB and the Scarlett is using the recommended Focusrite ASIO audio driver, you can't. You would have to change the driver mode in Cakewalk to WDM/KS, or MME or WASAPI, but then you would have a delay (latency) from the time something is played to the time you hear that sound. That kinda defeats the purpose of a metronome. In any case, more info on how you're routing things and what your headphones and driver mode are would help us help you.
  6. To insert a measure in the middle of a track, place the cursor where you want the new, empty measure. Go the Project at the top. Select Insert Time/Measures. Choose the number of measures (or time) you want to insert. Click OK. This will insert a measure in ALL the tracks of your project. To insert a measure(s) in a single track, place the cursor where you want the measure inserted. Select the track. Right-click, select Split. Drag the right-side clip to the right for 1 (or more) measures. Having Snap set to Whole or Measure will allow you to move the clip the exact amount.
  7. Wow. I'm really thankful my life is so simple. Most of my songs have 0 plug-ins. That may be reflected in how the song sounds, though. ?
  8. Is it gear? Then I vote yes. The answer is always yes.
  9. And jiggle your cable ends when the sound diminishes to see if they're going bad.
  10. That is the original title, "not a Cakewalk problem". The problem was a computer beep he couldn't identify.
  11. Thanks. I don't know how to do that. Should I delete that link, ya think?
  12. They're from South Carolina, not Georgia. ?

    How to hire an expert

A new thread for each topic would be better, I think. That would make finding the right one easier.
  14. Sounds like more than a hobby! I have always used off-the-shelf computers that cost, at most, $500-$700 US. One, I'm cheap, 2, I ain't rich, and 3, they've always worked. I must admit I don't use a lot of soft synths or audio plug-ins, so I don't need a supercomputer. I managed to open up the DAW and work on some of my songs this week, inspired by this thread, I think. And like a lot of other folks here, I'm kinda old (65). And retired, too. I have plenty of time to work on a lot of things, barring a visit from the Reaper.

  17. My cousins, Ryan and Atom (Adam) Parks have a band, Flying Moon In Space, based in Leipzig, Germany. They announced today that they're going to tour Europe starting in June. Bristol, UK and Paris, France are on the schedule. They play experimental/EDM. Get your tickets today! https://fb.watch/cpl3IVMnMO/
  18. So, I had this song in which I wanted a little saxophone break. I posted a note here to see if anyone was interested. There were no takers for a few weeks, but one day I saw Mooch was online. I sent him a PM linking my post and asked him "you play sax, don't you?" He replied quickly and said he would do it. I emailed him an MP3 of the song and in no time at all, he sent back a clip which I used. Just about the only collab I've participated in. That was years ago, and the project is still sitting there, waiting for me to re-sing the lead and tidy up some guitars. Hopefully, this is the year!
  19. I thought I remembered that you open the stand-alone version of D-Pro in administrator mode to enter the numbers. Then it would work everywhere. I never had Pro, just LE, but that's what I remembered from reading here.
  20. I am in the same boat, but it's a familiar vessel and it will eventually land at an inspiring beach. I have hardly touched my DAW or any instrument for months. It happens to me every few years and passes in its own time. Particularly galling is the fact that I have 2 or 3 projects almost finished, including 1 with the legendary Mooch4056 playing sax. Maybe next week.
  21. I remember this glitch from a few months back from another user, but a search for 'waves' gets a thousand hits, so I don't know if the other poster resolved their problem.
