  1. On FB I still get friend suggestions for Jimmy Gentry, RIP.
  2. Are you expecting to hear sound from the Korg? Is it connected to an amplifier and speakers or can you plug headphones into the Z1 to hear it? Or are you expecting audio from your computer speakers or headphones? The way you show it as connected will send a MIDI signal from the Korg to the UM-1 and computer DAW then out to the UM-1 and keyboard to play the notes you play. (?) If the audio output of the Z1 isn't connected to anything, you won't hear it. Also, the Z1 seems like an old piece of hardware, possibly made before USB was a thing. It may not work with a MIDI-to-USB converter. If it was instead connected to an audio interface which has MIDI ports, you would probably get better performance. Are you using an audio interface?
  3. I don't think I would want a jar of pearl jam on my table.
  4. I remember you saying you were there at the same time as we were. As you may be able to tell, we were kids; I was 12 and Mike was 13. Plus, we had just returned to Frankfurt for our second tour. Later, my first 2 concerts were there, Grand Funk and Ten Years After at the Messe in '71 and '72.
  5. So this young news reader was announcing upcoming events. "And next week Rio Speedwagon is going to be at the auditorium". WRAL channel 5 in Raleigh. I'll see if there's a video.
  6. Or, skip all the hassle and move the clip to another track. It looks like you have plenty to choose from.
  7. Wear a funny T-shirt. That way they'll be looking at the shirt instead of you.
  8. Welcome to the forum. Since this thread is almost 2 years old, it would have been best to start your own thread, but here you are. Check the Steinberg web site for a Steinberg ASIO driver for the UR22. The RealTek ASIO driver is not good and shouldn't be used. Download and install the Steinberg ASIO driver and try that. Often, a periodic pink noise sound is a symptom of a plug-in that is in demo mode or hasn't been activated/registered yet. If you have audio effect or soft synth plug-ins running in the project, try turning the plug-ins off one at a time to find which one is misbehaving. Good luck.
  9. Got you beat. The Fields Brothers in concert Oct. 1969 in Frankfurt, Germany.
  10. ? Still using it on an old XP system, but because of incompetent, modern computer for CbB. This one is a slow, off-the-shelf box bought about a decade ago.
  11. I bet you still have the gear, or their VST equivalent. Nice.
  12. There was a piece on 60 Minutes a few weeks ago about this doc. Their take was that this version would show how well the Beatles got along and their collaborative process better than the original. "Let It Be" was sad, to me, perhaps because I already knew what happened afterward. Still, I liked the music and all the joking around they did. And seeing all the gear they used. About Billy Preston, in the first flick, they kinda indicated that it was George Martin's idea to bring him in and maybe put the boys on their best behavior, but 60 Minutes said it was George Harrison's idea. Or maybe I've got my Georges mixed up. On a related note, I just watched "Under The Volcano" last night, a documentary about George Martin's studio in Montserrat and all the musicians who went through there in the decade it was in operation. Pretty cool.
  13. Reverb Nation is like sound click or sound cloud, etc. I've been there for a long time. Greg Fields Songs | ReverbNation
  14. I would check to see if I had a track(s) going straight to the Main out, thus bypassing the Master and the limiter. Check your Track Manager (H) for any hidden tracks. I assume while playing the project in Cakewalk that the audio behaves as expected?
  15. I think the "-18 and -12 peak" refers to recording level, not necessarily the output level. Right, Cactus?
  16. I think he means that the Master is set to 0.0, the double-click default, but when he plays the song, the output on the Master is not 0.0, but -8.9. Is that right, Richard? If that's the case and you want the output higher, turn up the tracks feeding the Master. Unless they're already too high. Typically, I have a vocals bus, a guitars bus, a synth bus, keyboards, bass, drums and a Master. Maybe strings. All sent to the Master bus. The Master bus is where you would put any mastering plug-ins, and that is output to your main out, your sound card or audio interface. After these plug-ins are manipulated, the volume may go up, and you can reduce that with the Master volume slider. But, there are those who say you should never touch that, it should always stay at 0.0 (unity). More experienced folks than me. Lacking that experience, I do what I want. ?
  17. I thought Lebic was a French ink pen. Or razor.
  18. If I understand what you're trying to do I think I can help with this part. Before you Insert the synth, set the desired synth bus as the default. For those who don't know how to do that, right-click in a grey area of a bus pane and select Set As Default Bus from the menu. Then you won't have to reset each output. After you're done, reset the Default bus to whatever you normally have it set to.
  19. I bought several of them and hung them around my gazebo. Keeps the rain and wind out and the heat in from my little propane heater.
  20. Saving as MIDI file will allow you to open the MIDI on just about any computer or DAW. When I double-click a .mid it will open and play in Windows Media Player or Groove Music without a problem, except the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth sounds are not so good. You would also still have access to the notation, which is part of the MIDI standard. And open them in just about any modern DAW. Not if you also saved the MIDI. In most of my projects, I bounce down or record all my MIDI to audio, archive and hide the MIDI and soft synth tracks. Keeping it all audio is easier for me to mix.
  21. What were Beatle boots called before the Beatles started wearing them? Boots.
  22. It's good to see folks getting out and playing again. My friend TJ's band Inanimus just played their first gig in almost 2 years, a party, but that's a start.
  23. I believe that if you've exported to MP3, then it is audio. MIDI itself makes no sounds; it must be played through some sort of synthesizer which makes the sounds. You probably already knew that. Furthermore, no VST or DX synths or effects are saved in any format, just references to where they are on the computer. Saving MIDI as .mid should open and play forever on a MIDI-capable machine, but the synths won't be there. Saving a Cakewalk by Bandlab project as a .cwp or .cwb should open in any Cakewalk program, but not on any old computer without Cakewalk. Just a note about .cwb (bundle) files. There have been reports of instability with them, but I've never had a problem. I would save my songs as audio and .mid, mixed down and separate tracks to CD, DVD, external hard drives, thumb drives, the cloud, etc. if I wanted to preserve them for a semi-eternity. All that being said, I'm on my first cup of coffee and may be blowing wind.
  24. Could you elaborate? There are probably a bunch of us thinking, what?
