So, I had this song in which I wanted a little saxophone break. I posted a note here to see if anyone was interested. There were no takers for a few weeks, but one day I saw Mooch was online. I sent him a PM linking my post and asked him "you play sax, don't you?" He replied quickly and said he would do it. I emailed him an MP3 of the song and in no time at all, he sent back a clip which I used. Just about the only collab I've participated in. That was years ago, and the project is still sitting there, waiting for me to re-sing the lead and tidy up some guitars. Hopefully, this is the year!

I thought I remembered that you open the stand-alone version of D-Pro in administrator mode to enter the numbers. Then it would work everywhere. I never had Pro, just LE, but that's what I remembered from reading here.

I am in the same boat, but it's a familiar vessel and it will eventually land at an inspiring beach. I have hardly touched my DAW or any instrument for months. It happens to me every few years and passes in its own time. Particularly galling is the fact that I have 2 or 3 projects almost finished, including 1 with the legendary Mooch4056 playing sax. Maybe next week.

Do you mean "set the patch"?

I remember this glitch from a few months back from another user, but a search for 'waves' gets a thousand hits, so I don't know if the other poster resolved their problem.

Cakewalk by Bandlab?

Welcome to the forum. Most of us have been in your situation. When I got started in 2002 with Cakewalk Music Creator 2003, I was also a new computer user. I knew none of the terms used in the DAW or Windows, so I was doubly lost. I didn't even discover the Cakewalk Forums until 2004 or 5, but I still managed to learn enough from the manual and Help files and tutorials to record several songs. For what you say you want to do, record songs, you don't need to know everything, and this forum will be your greatest asset. There are lots of folks here willing to help, with links and direct assistance, and searching the reference guide for unfamiliar phrases can help a lot. Most of the time I find that "I don't need that" and forget it. I'm just a recorder, too. Good luck!

If mousing, you don't need an input channel. When using multiple tracks, use different channels or a change of value in 1 track (velocity, volume) may affect another track using the same channel. That is if they're using the same synth. I think that's pretty much it.

And it's Dell that has had some problems in the past... getting it set up right. Anyone got links to the threads?

That's a question for the technoid folks, but I would guess that it's because it's from Microsoft. WASAPI is relatively new, and is Microsoft's response to the poor audio implementation previously. Apparently, they listened.

Without reading through the entire thread, what brand of computer is it? Some brands need extra care. This kinda reminds me of a problem I had in the aughts; I used a Sound Blaster Extigy (yeah, I know, but it was what Best Buy had. And it was a fine device even though there was no ASIO driver for it). The onboard RealTek kept grabbing the audio, no matter how many times I set it to the SB. I eventually deleted the RealTek HD Manager from the computer and all was good. It was an HP Media Center computer, which might have had something to do with it.

What about harmonica players? They can carry an entire orchestra in a vest. I've been a bass player, guitar player and keyboard player in different bands. They're all weighty, but bass was the easiest. One bass, one amp, one cable. That is if you don't help out with the PA.

How would you play them?

When Cakewalk started their Instrument Definitions forum, I wrote that I had a lot of old Yamaha IDs which I think I downloaded directly from Yamaha around 16 years ago. I just checked my hand-written list of the IDs in it and lo and behold, there is the SY 77. I hope it works for you! You should be able to open it with notepad, as I did. Is the "name of a track" the track name all the way on the left in the Track Pane, or a clip in the track? If it's a clip, you might be inadvertently clicking in something.
