This might be a long day! ?

Won't be long now...

I see what you are doing: making this thread catchup with the KVR thread on its own! ?

Not all models of the Volt has these. Only the higher priced models. The ones that do not have '76' in their name do not and are, of course, cheaper. But they all have tube emulation!
-
Similar kind of bundle you get with other interfaces like the Focusrite. They even provide the same Softube bundle that Focusrite does, it's called the Softube Time and Tone bundle.

Don't want to make more fuss over this, but he did say: "I feel bad for all those who have complaints with Waves but I've never had any real negative experiences." --- Tommy Byrnes I too was able to upgrade without problems in Cakewalk, but it does not mean I don't feel for those who do have problems. I do. It is just information that says: on some systems/configuration it works. Nothing more. Not a statement that you are wrong, at all. And I believe it is the same sentiment in the quote above. Or maybe I missed something... It is certainly up to you to decide if you had enough headache with Waves to quit them. I totally understand. I don't like their WUP either. There is something wrong when a company that does not want to listen to inquiries about their product unless you pay upfront! Not being eligible to updates is one thing, but products that you own stops working and they won't answer your questions, it's a different matter. In fact, good companies have this kind of info in a FAQ on their website for everyone to see, free of charge. For me, I use a couple of their plugins, mostly Scheps Omni Channel and R-Vox and will continue to do so... unless I ever run into the same mess you did!

IK Multimedia: High CPU on latest AT5 and Lurssen

Crackling : exactly what I am experiencing! Even before CPU is too high, crackling happens. Probably short burst of max CPU usage too short to be visible, but enough to heard! -

True that LMC is not intended to be used on tracks. But it can be used on the master bus to get a quick master for a quick test. But not with that kind of CPU impact unfortunately. -

I also use the standalone + Task manager in Windows as an easier way to gauge AT5 and LMC. But getting CPU usage of a stack of plugins together, man that is nice! -

Thanks for this. I am kind of glad I asked the question! I do think though that it can sometimes be overused to the detriment to the song in the name of goodness. But that is like any other effect. You get instant gratification (ear candy) without realizing what you are loosing to get there. Mostly clarity I guess. I remember many years ago when I discovered SACDs, how ecstatic I was about the jump in clarity and detail over CDs. Hotel California in 5.1 SACD is so clear that, on a good sound system, you can easily pickup on each guitar part individually. Avalon SACD by Roxy Music is another great example of feeling in the studio with the band and having Brian Ferry feel like he is singing in your living room. The digital medium, to me, is not cold and lifeless as some describe it to be. I guess I am just not one to give up clarity over warmness. But like spices, it is how things are blended tastefully. I totally agree on guitar sound! That is certainly an area that is very complex and where linearity does not work in its favor. And it does not take much of the wrong distortion and/or response to kill the vibe. I found that the hard way in the 80s when I was building my own effects and amps. Not as easy as I thought it would be! But the journey was a great learning experience and fun part of my life! Luckily I had help in Craig Anderton's book Electronic Projects for Musicians and his columns in Guitar Player. -
IK Multimedia: High CPU on latest AT5 and Lurssen

Thanks for doing that! I wished there was something like that in Cakewalk! That would be useful for people with older machines, to gauge which plugins are worth the cpu imprint or, for comparable plugins, which is easier on the cpu. -

Using Windows Task Manager cpu usage %. I am doing my tests with the standalone version of LMC. What is asio meter? -

Very good point Zo. I did make sure in my test that it was the same configuration, but I have redone the tests with and without HD to see what difference it makes and if it is an avenue to save some cpu. From the numbers below (average I mentally made since the numbers vary) you can see a small gain if HD is disabled, but not as much as I would have expected. Without HD 1.0.3: 2% 1.1.1: 6.5% With HD 1.0.3: 3% 1.1.1: 7.2% I did not take readings, but with DDM off you have a very small difference, but nothing worth not using the feature. -

Sometimes I wonder, if digital would have been invented first and now we where just starting to get analog gear. Would people complain that analog is not as crisp as digital? That it introduces distortion that we didn't have before and therefore not as clean as we are used to? Is the human such a creature of habit and nostalgia that whatever it has been accustomed to for years is always better? Hum, I wonder... ? -
Yeah, but after you take out Peter's well deserved big bonus, how much is really left? ? But I think the calculation should be done with a more realistic average of $100 per entry when you factor in jam points and the gear credit route.
-
I entered using AT5 at 199 (minus jam points, etc) and I picked full MODO drum, MODO bass, Sampletron and much more stuff that were 199 when logged in. I hope it answers your question Zo.

Yep told you in the other thread a few weeks back! ?

IK 25th Anniversary Group Buy - Your best product purchases

Don't forget the calculator app! -
This is probably the only feature of v13 that I benefit from. But it is great! The Scheps Omni Channel benefits from being larger and the new graphics make a very nice improvement. Luckily I was still covered and didn't have to spend a dime to get it! The Scheps Omni Channel as got to be one of the best channel strip! Instead of trying to emulate too much old gear, it focuses on functionality, ease of use and giving you the tools you need. It is not restricting itself with how an old gear used to work, but instead it makes sure you have as much flexibility as is possible so you don't need to rely on your DAW's routing or special techniques to achieve what is needed. Highly recommended.

I know what you mean and have tested on my i7 4790 different iteration of Amplitube. You can find my findings elsewhere on this forum, but in a nutshell, cpu usage has doubled twice. Once from AT4 to AT5 5.0.3, then another doubling from At5 5.0.3 to 5.1.0. I have made IK support aware of this and they are looking into it. I am ok and understand the jump in CPU usage from AT4 to AT5.0.3, it is a complete new beast and the changes are incredible. But I am not ok for the change between 5.03 and 5.1.0, where very little change for the user happened for so much cpu usage increase. You may want to voice your concern to support. The more input they have the better. -
I must say, I picked the right year to finally enter the group buy! I double dipped, once at 199 and once at 99. That will be 48 freebies in the end! ? Thanks IK! There is no other company's sales that comes even close to this! ? Truly the sale of the decade!
-
Yep, 1904! Should take a few days, but will make it! This is the little group buy that could! Well, it started little, but with the number of freebies we are getting, its pretty darn big now!
