  1. There was a group here in Boston (if I remember correctly, they were called 'Band in Boston') that had great horns. The best horns I ever heard live were the E-Street Band. When they came in on Tenth Avenue Freeze Out after the band cooked it on low for about 30 seconds, it about blew the walls off of the Boston Garden. I believe a couple of people actually melted a little.
  2. Yes, three vocals, using Melodyne to fine tune. On all of the vocals, I used iZotope Nectar 3 to process eq and compression decisions. Overall, on the master buss for everything, I used the UAD Capital Mastering compressor (which I love for one feature, the saturation button).
  3. Thanks John - I used Session Pro Horns on that one - perhaps I put too many effects on them! Steve
  4. Hi Jack - thank you. I think you probably mean the effects on the 'POWER UP' vocal. I sent the vocal buss to three fx busses: cakewalk sonitus delay, pultec room verb, hitsville verb I automated them to kick in just for those parts. I'm going to try a screenshot here to show the settings. If you meant some other part, let me know.
  5. Thank you for your feedback! Steve
  6. Thanks Kevin - I agree, it reminds me of Harrison as well. Steve
  7. Thank you Kevin!
  8. Recently added lyrics to this one - I'm planning out my 2024 album and this will probably be on it (later this year). The last verse I had some help from Bard - not word for word, but it did come up with the Window Panes Weep idea - One I really liked and was surprised by. I had to coax it along a little with 4 or 5 suggestions, but it basically worked as a helper tool for when the words just won't come. https://baselines.com/?p=6968 I am right here Waiting for you to come back It's been a while since you've been seen around here Every one is ve - ry concerned We hope that you haven't gone south But who could blame you if you did There's only so much drizzle that a sol can take. Come and break the spell... And melt away my shell Power up --- Power up my soul With your stunning warmth Window panes weep their dusty tears, Empty chairs hold echoes of your bright smile Conversations stutter, ice falls on the sill Aching for warmth, a tender touch.
  9. That lead synth sounds a little like a theremin. Very well put together. It made me think in places like Ruby Tuesday. Steve
  10. Nice job Jack - I like the way the bass fits the track. Steve
  11. Great vocals sit perfectly in the mix. Nice work!
  12. One of the best guitar sounds I've heard here. Cheers! Steve
  13. Cool - sounds like you must've fixed the snare - sounds good to me! Steve
  14. That sweet strat sound! Nice work.
  15. Amazing what you can do with old tapes these days...great work on that. I like the tremolo effect whatever it is - it doesn't get used much these days, but should be. Steve
  16. Another quality production Nigel - well done. I like the way the keyboard propels it along. Steve
  17. Thanks for the feedback Keith - if I ever get back to this one I will remember and try to adjust. Steve
  18. Thank you! I love that picture as well - really fits with the song. Steve
  19. Thanks Lynn! Good to hear from you.
  20. Hi Gary thank you for the feedback. I have all the instruments going into one bus and the vocals into another - I'll try to adjust those balances a little. I still think I am using way too many of the UAD Spark plugins, but I find over time, I calm down a little bit. Perhaps that is part of the problem here. Steve
  21. Thanks! The older I get the more I realize that what you say is true. Just be nice to people and help when you can and that goes a long way. Steve
  22. Thank you for taking the time to listen and leave a comment. Steve
